Alright so I have about 10k dust at the moment and I've seen a lot of people say that you should wait for the meta to settle down, but on the other hand I'd really like to craft a deck so I have an actual deck to play in standard. Is it absolutely stupid for me to craft a deck or two now rather than waiting?
The only Legendary that's safe to craft right now is Baku. Everyone thought Shudderwock was OP, now it's only tier 4 atm. If you really want to craft a legendary, go with Baku.
Look for a deck that looks fun and that you have most of the cards for anyway. Also only craft stuff that has very high future potential and open up a lot of deck building choices, such as Baku and Genn, don't craft things that are obviously very situational such as Prince Taldaram.
Well I already have Baku, and would only need to spend about 2k if I were to want to create an odd paladin deck. I've been primarily looking towards a steal rogue kind of deck with Tess and whatnot, or as much as I hate the deck; Cubelock. I'm kind of in doubt though

What do you think of doing something like steal rogue with Tess or Cubelock for example? I'd assume Cubelock is a pretty safe bet but on the other hand it doesn't seem as fun as a lot of other decks I could create
Personally the only legendaries I crafted are Baku, Genn and Lord Godfrey. I consider those to be safe crafts for the whole rotation, and even though I really want to try out The Glass Knight and Prince Liam, I'm going to wait a little to see if they have any real potential.
If you craft Baku, I wouldn't craft Genn. Unlike Baku, Genn is only used in even paladin (at least as of now). And if you already have Baku, you can already play aggro odd paladin. Genn would allow you to play another variant of aggro paladin, even paladin, but do you really want to have two variants of aggro paladin? Plus Baku enables much more viable archetypes in other classes.
Lord Godfrey is almost certainly tier 1 for the rest of it's time in standard, and forever in wild. However, If you don't have the card for cubelock or control lock, then there's no point. So it depends on what classes you want to play and the kind of collection you have.

My collection isn't exactly amazing at the moment. The only decks I have are Quest Mage & Kingsbane Rogue so overall I don't really have the most spectacular of collections. But as mentioned above I do already have Baku yes, but on the other hand I'd like to try something that isn't just mindless attack the face decks, rather something that's fun to play

Sounds like you like more controllish decks. Control mage has a positie winrate (barely), but requires no new legendaries. Odd rogue is quite fun, but is quite face-ey. Probably the most viable (and in my opinion, fun) control deck is control warlock with Rin, no weapon and no doomguards. Goal is to outlast, not tempo and burst. Other slower decks that are quite good and fun (although not for your opponent) are the spiteful decks. Spiteful druid is currently tier 1 on hsreplay.net at around a 60% winrate, and is not too expensive. Spiteful priest also standa a chance against warlocks due to having mind control.

Hmm yeah, a friend told me to try odd rogue but yeah as I mentioned I'm not really too down to do full aggro decks. I'd also like to do multiple decks of possible to have some variety instead of just running one deck to the ground and then get bored of it
I just think people are going about Shudderwock decks in the wrong way. Everyone is trying to make an OTK deck with it. Why not just make a good shaman deck with Shudderwock as another tool to use with a couple good battlecries in the game. Once people start not trying to do the OTK I think he will be pretty good. Especially with the fact he will be around for 2 whole years and a bunch of new battlecry cards will be printed.
It looks like Genn is a pretty good craft too right now. That is the only other one I would say is a safe craft though.

Sure waiting for meta to settle (at least one more week) is smart thing to do. If you want to be responsible with your dust go for it. But i did it last expension and i was just so bored. So this expension i just crafted whatever i liked and went nuts with gen pally, gen rogue, baku mage, elemental shaman and all other decks i wanted and so far Im having most fun I had in Hearthstone since it went to open beta. I mean i will probably regret crafting some of the cards but maybe they will get some love later when other expensions come into HS. So sure being responsible with your dust is smart thing to do but if your main goal is to have fun with some new decks that will probably not be viable in a week maybe should just say f*** it this time around and spend your dust. But i realy want to stress out that this is not a great strategy if want to go on some tournamets with ideal lineup later or go for top 100 legend or something like that.

Play budget decks, wait some more.

i am in the same boat, have dust burning a hole in my pocket but don't see anything i must have (i play wild mostly)
