How annoying is it that Flare doesn't effect counter spell? ( I know it technically triggers it ) but it keeps any other secrets safe. - I been running a double flare hunter in Wild, more so trolling all the secret pallies just to smile at the turn six rage quit, or the rare and even better flare the few secrets before turn 6, and hit the second flare as they drop Dr.6. But that's besides the point, and that being I've run into quite afew mages having multiple secrets and I of course flare and it being saved by Counterspell. I find it very annoying that there is a SPELL designed to clear all secrets yet it's countered by a SECRET /Facepalm.
I think it's kind of an oversight by Blizzard to have Flare been a spell at all. I know, it's just one small interaction, but having the "Flare" effect attached to a minion instead would avoid stuff like this.
I know we have eater of secrets now, tho I find it redundant to use it in a hunter deck, it's at worse a 4mana 2/4 vs a 2mana draw a card. That being said in hunter especially late game i'd rather the draw.

Yeah but this effect on a minion would cost more than 2 mana. Even a 1/1 minion with Flare battlecry would cost 3.
Honestly it's fine as it is, if counterspell is the only secret, it doesn't matter if flare counters counterspell, or if counterspell counters flare, the end result is exactly the same, you spent 2 mana to remove the secret. if there are two or more secrets, then the hunter must play around counterspell before he uses flare. It's a stupid interaction, but at least it takes some skill to play around it, so it's good.
The problem with playing around it is in the I guess let's say "common" hunter deck is limited on spells. We all know the ones, Quick shot, companion, kill command, and maybe a hunters mark. All of which would suck to waste and would cost on avg 4 mana combined with flare to play around the secret.
Well, there is still The Coin, and On the Hunt that is imo a spell that every hunter should run x2.
On the hunt, I've seen used very rarely, aside from Yogg hunters. And aside from that maybe 1 copy in afew decks, if the hound had charge like the others I think I'd be more useful. But yeah, u can use coin to bait.

would have to be a 2 mana 0/0. even a 2 mana 1/1 that drew a card and destoyed all secrets would be unbalanced
but then again, we have Dr. 4 so I don't think Balance is a consideration at this point

Great points, hadn't thought of those interactions myself. If that's the case, flare should be able to bypass counter spell.

Not that on the hunt is totally "bad" just it's what do you cut for it, not going to cut hunter mark, quick shot, companion, kill command, and then there's the minions. None of the top decks have room to fit it, minus Yogg hunter.
