Aggressive Mech Shaman (not final)

Hey everyone! If you don't feel like reading just scroll down to the "Summary" section. I'm glad you were interested enough to check out my mech shaman deck. This deck is not final and i will be updating this deck page until i find the best combination for aggro mech shaman. It is my favorite deck theme in hearthstone. I'll be more than happy to walk you through and explain how & why i use this deck.

Backstory

Do you remember crushing your opponents while playing mech themed decks? Or how people were easily reaching the LEGEND rank with their mech decks when Goblins VS Gnomes first came out? Well, ladies and gentlemen, those were the golden days of mech themed decks in Hearthstone, the very peak of this powerful minion type. If you thought it would be a fun throwback to try out mechs once again i am sad to inform you that although the decks and play style are similar, today's mech decks are different then how they used to be.

The biggest game changing factor for the mechs in hearthstone was getting kicked down the endless dark pit called "Wild Format" where it now stands amongst all the forgotten, Over powered, weird/scary and crazy combo experimental decks where every new expansion only adds more total chaos. But even in a harsh environment such as this one where the motto is "every man for them selves" i believe that mech shaman can strive, survive and come out on top! So without further ado, welcome to my AGGRO MECH SHAMAN!!!(test)

The deck

I'm pretty sure you've already taken a quick peek at the deck so without stating the obvious ill just start right away with why i have picked these cards. remember this deck is just a test and not final.

Shaman Exclusives

Lets start with the Core cards of this deck. The exclusive unique Shaman mech cards.

Whirling Zap-o-matic Powermace

Although there are only two, These cards make the shaman class probably the very best option for a mech deck. Lets start with the Zap-o-matic. As we can see, this card is a face magnet screaming out loud (AGGRO SHAMAN). With the windfury and low mana cost attached to it there is no doubt this card was specifically made to be limited to aggro decks. This is going to be your biggest early game threat. slamming this bad boy on turn 2 or even coining it out on turn 1 will make it a top priority for your opponent especially if he doesn't have a direct answer right away. Since this card is an auto add for any aggro mech shaman deck and exclusive to the shaman class this would suggest that the best mech is aggro mech for shaman.

But what about the Powermace? "This card doesn't seem purely aggressive to me" you might be thinking, and you are absolutely right! This card allows us to experiment and try out all sorts of mech decks due to its flexibility, awesome stats and effect. As of the recent nerf patch this is basically a Fiery War Axe with a value effect! This card is straight up just plain good. Even though we will be playing aggressively, playing this excellent turn 3 drop should, in most cases, always be used carefully to clear out the board since we only have 2 charges and a deathrattle effect that will need to be used appropriately. This card is perfect for this deck since straight off the bat you can see that it synergises with the other exclusive shaman card Whirling Zap-o-matic. The main strategy with this card is to eliminate your opponents early drops while already having played a small drop yourself so you can have control over the board already at an early stage. Basically if playing this card on your turn 3 seems like the best play, and you already have something on the board which in most cases you will, you should always look for a minion kill so you can have board control and be set at 1 durability so next turn if your opponent plays a minion again you can smash its face and give your mech +2/+2 which will surely seal your control over the board and lead in the match. This is the main winning strategy of the deck. This will be, in most matches, your first way to assure dominance.

Mech synergy cards

Now that we learned our promising main victory strategy, lets try to polish and reinforce this game plan. So as we know by now, the powermace's deathrattle effect can combo well with the Whirling Zap-o-matic but about half of the time your opponent, unfortunately, will have an answer and what good is a Powermace if you don't have anything on the field to buff? If only there was a low cost card that can be played before turn 3 which can combo with the powermace and at the same time help out our zap-o-matic on the field... Maybe something like *this ? Ah yes! the Annoy-o-Tron. Perfect card for this love triangle. Now with the flexibility of the powermace we can go in both ways, aggressive or defensive. Annoy-o-tron is excellent in slowing down your opponent's attempts at clearing the board early on and is going to help out a lot with its divine shield and taunt. now that we can hide behind our cheap divine shield taunt minion, what else can we squeeze in behind it? I'm thinking something that could further synergise with everything we have so far. This is where the last piece of the puzzle comes in place. Mechwarper. Perfect coin card for turn 1 if you have a follow up on the next turns. This card will allow us to quickly play our mechs and what better thing could an aggressive deck want more? Now we can play our mech minions at a discounted price. Now we have a bunch of minions to play before turn 3 that not only combos with Powermace but also synergises with eachother! This is the core family tree.

Father:                         Mother:                          Little brother:                Big brother:

FatherMotherLittle brotherBig brother

Even though we now have our main start up game plan and our family, we still don't have anything to play on turn 1. I've mentioned the coin a few times by now but what if we start the match? How can an aggro deck not have 1 mana drops! Say hello to your top priority muligan search card Cogmaster. This guy can fix anything.

Focusing on aggressive plays

Now that we have figured out our early game we need to focus on how we can drop that 30 to 0 as quick as possible. This is the best part of Shaman. SPELLS! Shaman has the best board clear and removal spells in the ENTIRE game. I'm talking about Lightning Bolt Lava Burst Crackle Rockbiter Weapon. These are just a few examples of what you can add to your deck. these are excellent single target spells to wear down your opponent. The trick here is to hoard as many low cost spells as you can so that when you have lethal you can destroy your opponent into oblivion in 1 turn so you wont have to worry about the overload penalty on the next turn. Remember also that we are playing shaman which means getting a spell totem would help out here but as we all know the totems are random and sometimes we dont get what we need (sadly). This is where Bloodmage Thalnos comes in handy. 2 mana for spell damage which is a guarantied spell totem with a card draw. Now you can pump elemental fury into your opponents face while your mechs are ripping him apart!

Alternative plays

As much fun as aggro can be, we all know that in the end, this is a card game and luck will be a part of every match. we wont always win on turn 5, sometimes our opponents will have answers to everything and worst of all, this is wild format so anything can happen. And so, sometimes we will have to hold back and think through on our plays. This is why i decided to add Bloodlust, it's very useful as it can seal the deal and at the same time help you with a last stand if your opponent is winning the board. Having 1 copy of it is perfect since 99.99% of the time the second copy will be warming the bench in your hand. At 5 mana for a card that ends the game you don't really need a second copy of it. I also decided to add Lightning Storm x2 in the deck. with Bloodmage Thalnos in here already this could really help out on keeping the board nice and clean on my opponents side. But lets say your opponent got rid of your early game scheme and now you've taken back control of the board... now what? no more Powermace no more buffed up mechs. Well, only one thing left to do. A BIG GIANT HEAVY MACE TO THE FACE! Doomhammer but you know whats better than that? A BIG GIANT HEAVY MACE ON STEROIDS TO THE FACE Rockbiter Weapon. The classic aggro shaman combo. Both of those combined together and its 1/3 of your opponents HP chipped off and thats not even counting that you have 6 other weapon charges and x2 Rockbiter Weapon in your deck. Pyroblast got nothing on us now! This isn't much of an alternative play as you'll be looking for this combo almost every match but 5 mana overload 2 sometimes can't be played. Always play smart and look for the right opportunities. The best way to play out this finisher combo would be to have Doomhammer already equipped with Rockbiter Weapon in hand with a few spells and obliterate your enemy in 1 turn with all your spells plus the hammer smash on the face. Avoiding all that overload like a champ! This is the game plan B

Extras and Musts

By now we have established the core play styles(Game plan A&B) and cards of this deck. The family cards above and the giant mace to the face combo is a must in all aggro mech shaman decks. But you know what is even more mandatory? The one card you cannot play ANY mech deck without? The one and only ultimate lord of turn 7. that's right, it's Dr. Boom. Dr. Boom

If you were thinking about playing mech decks without this guy you can forget about it all. This is the heart of mech decks. When GvG came out i disenchanted my GOLDEN Lord Jaraxxus for this card so you shouldn't have any excuse. There's really no explanation for this bad ass card. A must have!

Even if we have a small family army on the field, it's always good to have a few back ups. There are many good minion options you can add to your deck like the Spider Tank or Mechanical Yeti and Gorillabot A-3. I've seen many decks with different amounts of these and other minions with good value effects. But most of the time i would end up with x2 Mechanical Yeti in my hand just sitting there next to my 1 extra Spider Tank so in the end i just decided to add 1 of each which honestly, is working out really great. Cards like Piloted Shredder are an obvious must to the deck. Ever since the Goblins VS Gnomes expansion came out this card was one of the best value card which even sees play in non mech decks. just watch out for that Doomsayer. But remember this outcome is a double edged blade because sometimes when things aren't looking good for you, you can always crash your Shredder into a minion, killing it, hoping to receive THE COMING END! If that ever happens you'll look like a bad ass pro player as if you *Knew the outcome. Cards like Tinkertown Technician can also be beneficial but from time to time they just sit in my hand when i don't have any mechs on the field. This is a straight up dead card if you are losing the match but at the same time a setroid card if you have a mech. This is the type of card that is all or nothing. Even though its a must in my eyes i would suggest to only have x1 always. No matter what.

Summary

Epilogue

That's pretty much the deck as of now. As i said before this deck is not final, i am still playing/testing it to see how i can improve it so i can then create the ultimate Aggo mech shaman deck. If you liked this make sure to *check back once in a while for updates. I'll keep changing things until this deck theme has reached its maximum potential. Thanks for reading and if you have some interesting opinions on this topic or if you'd like to play with this deck please leave a comment on how its working out for you.
