Just piloted this list to rank 1 legend on NA. I encountered a lot of rogue and zoo with some pirate warrior here and there. This list does great against all of that.
Vs Rogue
Keep the quest, you want to look for dirty rat to disrupt their quest plans mainly. Remove all the creatures that they are trying to combo/quest with.
Vs Warlock
Mulligan the quest, you will never complete it by the time you win anyways. I would look for war axe and aoe (whirlwind and ghoul) and tar creeper. Just clear the board when you can via brawl and sleep with the fishes and it should be an easy game.
Vs Warrior
This was a bit trickier. If it's a warrior you are playing for the first time I would keep the quest just in case its a mirror match. If you know they are pirate warrior then mull it. Look for early anti aggro tools: war axe, ghoul or ww, tar creeper and sleep with the fishes if you have an aoe already otherwise dont keep it. I think we all know their gameplan by now. Kill their pirates to stop their upgrades. I originally had oozes instead of sleep with the fishes, it was okay but dead in too many other matchups. I found that removing their creatures was much more beneficial even if they had an upgraded weapon because I was able to just throw out taunts to eat the charges up until they ran out of steam. It's a close matchup and many games I would stabilize under 10 life.
Vs Shaman
Keep the quest, shaman is pretty slow and you pretty much play like you do against zoo but slower. Clear the board efficiently and eventually they run out of steam and thats about the time you complete the quest as well.
Vs Mage
I only encountered the infinite fireball combo mage. Keep the quest and look for dirty rat to destroy their combo.
Vs Hunter
This was actually the hardest matchup but I did not encounter any in legend. I would mull the quest because its very important to remove all the weenies they are dropping. Stampeding Kodo destroys this deck. Also if they adapt a token and get poisonous its pretty bad. That's what happens if they high roll you but most of the time youll be okay. You play similarly as the rogue matchup.
I didnt see any druids or paladins except for 1 jade druid who got destroyed by fireballs.
replacement for curator?
You can try out second Tar Lord or Ornery Direhorn cuz we got no 6 drops, but The Curator is so much better for his draw ability.
any reason your not playing I Know a Guy, Stolen Goods, or Stonehill Defender?
What about Deathing ??
So far I haven't really encountered many situations where having deathwing would have saved me. Maybe against rogue after they complete their quest but most of the time it would just be a dead card for me.
Im playing this deck with Deathwing and he's saved me so many times from bad starts against aggro decks.
I did:
-1 Direhorn Hatchling
+1 Deathwing
I'm playing a variant of this except no Dirty Rats - I swapped them for Stonehill Defenders. I'm sure Dirty Rat works for some people but I seem to have terrible luck with it so I just try to avoid it. I'm 22-10 so far. Mage and Rogue are my only losing matchups (2-3 and 3-4, respectively). When they get their quests or the infinite fireball combo with mage there's just nothing you can do. Best matchup is warlock where I'm 6-1, and I'm 5-1 against other warriors.
Overall it's a really nice deck and is pretty fun to play.
Yeah I'm starting to realize that may have been a little foolish, although I did have decent success without them. They just always make me nervous that it will pull something big I can't deal with (e: in the non-rogue/hunter matchups of course). I've swapped them back in just to deal with rogues. It's still my worst matchup though.
Prety decent list thanks for sharing m8.
Hey guys! Swapped out 1 Sleep with the Fishes for Cleave. Great help versus aggro when you got no activation for Sleep with the Fishes.
Whats the win conditions if you mulligan away the quest? Doesn't seem like that's ever a good idea yet you suggest it multiple times. Have you ever actually cycled the quest away?
Unfortunately right now outside of Rogue it's hard to tell what is aggro. Warlock could be zoo, discard or handlock. Shaman could be murlocs or elemental. Warrior could be Pirate or Taunt. The only class i know to probably mull is vs Hunter since they are almost all the same right now.
Suggestions for tech card vs priest?
This version of the deck only wins against pirates and murlocs. Loses against literally every elemental, jade, rogue, handlock... deck out there
PS: The "proof" is no proof at all.
Don't blame the deck because you don't know how to play it. I've been playing it a couple days and only have losing records to mage and rogue, and those are basically even, only one more loss than wins. I get that people want to trash any deck that claims to be rank 1 legend, but maybe make sure you play it right before trashing it.
I've drown leg sham card with dirty rat))))
Nice decklist Starman, I had some decent success with it so far and I guess with some more fine tuning it might be even better. From time to time it is a bit too slow, but overall still good enough at the moment!

well done! Tar lord is a bit slow, try to replace him whit something else to do the quest faster, look at my deck if u want!

Tried a mad scientist to swap a few of the high health mid/low attack minions at clutch points, surprises the opposition a lot when it comes off, but it doesn't really happen enough I suppose. Very useful in the mirror though.
