VOD of climbing to #12 ( http://www.twitch.tv/ggnomodogan/v/3830202?t=23s )

Hey, I’m Nomodogan. I got my Golden Warrior about 6 months ago and I’ve played a lot with it since. I’ve gotten to high legend ranks with Warrior many times, and I hope this guide helps you do the same! I peaked at #12 on stream recently and the full climb from ~650-12 can be viewed in the VOD above. I did lose a few ranks afterwards, but hopefully I will climb again on stream some more!

Keep in mind that this deck is built for the current meta, and will not be as effective in the future! Tune into my stream to see what modifications I make to adjust!

Card explanations and tips

2x Execute - Standard hard removal. Generally it should be used aggressively against aggressive decks and Druid and keep it reserved against control decks.

2x Shield Slam – Standard, typically just use on anything you cannot already deal with using weapons or minions.

1x Zombie Chow - Slightly unusual, great against Hunter, Shaman, Mech decks, and Paladin. Decent against every other deck, except Warrior and Handlock. Although its sub optimal in the late game, its great in the early game, and can fit well into your plays in the midgame (such as turn 6 where you play a belcher and a chow, or turn 5 where you play a deaths bite and a chow, etc.) Healing your opponent usually won’t matter because you go for the long game and you will usually Alexstrasza your opponent at some point anyway.

2x Fiery War Axe - Great early removal, standard.

2x Armorsmith – Standard, Works well with shield slam, solid early play, annoying for opponents and prolongs the game.

2x Cruel Taskmaster – Enables execute and Grommash, works well with weapons, Acolyte of Pain, synergizes really well with the deck overall.

2x Shield Block – Standard, I always play 2 because you really want them to enable Shield Slam, and they gain value and get you out of burst/combo range.

2x Acolyte of Pain – Standard, synergizes well and is essential for card draw.

2x Death’s Bite – Standard, extremely good weapon, synergizes well.

1x Brawl – Standard, although sometimes a dead card, it is a necessary evil to punish opponents that don’t play around it and it can outright win games.

2x Bomb Lobber - Slowly moving into warrior decks recently, I like 2 because they are great against Druid and mech decks, kill Shade of Naxxramas, and just a very solid all around card that works well with Execute, weapons, Shield Slam, minions on board. Just a great fit in a Warrior deck overall

2x Sludge Belcher – Standard, great defensive minion.

2x Shieldmaiden – Standard, solid body, works well with Shield Slam and weapons for lifegain.

Sylvanas Windrunner – Standard Powerhouse card that is annoying to deal with.

Baron Geddon – A little uncommon, strong all around, works especially well against Hunter, Shaman, and Paladin.

Dr. Boom – Standard. Powerhouse card, great for baiting Big Game Hunter, works well with Deaths Bite, Boom Bots enable execute, and work well with all the other removal as well.

Grommash Hellscream – Standard, strong finisher that can also be used as removal/board presence.

Ragnaros the Firelord – Slowly being cut from warrior decks. in my opinion, Ragnaros is too good not to play (but if you have no other Big Game Hunter targets, he is probably worth cutting), he sometimes makes it seem like a game all comes down to a 50/50, but without him in your deck you would lose in those situations for sure. Gains lots of value, giant threat, finishes your opponent quickly especially after using Alexstrasza. He’s just the freaking Firelord.

Alexstrasza – Standard, can be used on yourself to get out of combo/burst range, or use her on your opponent to turn the corner and become the aggressor. Either way, you still get an 8/8 on board.

Why no BGH?

Big Game Hunter is a card that shines against Warrior and Handlock which are not popular at the moment. Yes, most decks have Dr. Boom nowadays, but between all the weapons, removal spells, Bomb Lobbers, and stuff like that, I think Big Game Hunter would be overkill and dead a lot of the time. Big Game Hunter will often sit in your hand and rot when your opponent does not play a target for it, which basically makes it a dead card. And we all know that once you finally make the disciplined play of throwing it out there onto the board without a target, they will draw the Dr. Boom. So I decided to cut it.  Feel free to swap something out for it if you wish.

Why no Loatheb/Harrison/Whirlwind/other tech cards?

I feel that the cards I have included are better in the current meta, feel free to change things around or tweet at me or come into my stream and ask questions.

Alternate options: Although I do not recommend it, if you do not own the legendaries I have in this decklist and you really want to play Warrior, you can! Kinda. It will not be as powerful, but you could still get up to Rank 5 or so if you play well.

If you don’t have Sylvanas/Baron Geddon/Dr. Boom/Grommash/Ragnaros/Alexstrasza, cards to play instead would be Boulderfist Ogre’s, other legendaries you might own such as Ysera, Loatheb, Cairne, Black Knight, Onyxia, Kel Thuzad, even Deathwing! Just try to replace big minions with other big minions, and you should do okay. If you have any other questions about the deck/replacements come into my stream and ask me, or tweet at me @NomodoganHS

Hope this guide helps you guys, good luck climbing!
