after experimenting during day one this was my most successful deck. i tried a lot of different variations of this deck. I was high diamond before the expansion launch and this deck got me to legend and won a game. obv imperfect and not optimal but it was fun and worked well.
how to play:
i mostly play it like a control deck with a couple of win cons. typically try to build so much value that it overwhelms your opponent
first win con: Shuddercock Block
the first is Shudderblock which can have many different outcomes and combos but i find the best for max value is usually : start Hagatha the Fabled and draw Wish Upon a Star, then Shudderblock + Fairy Tale Slime with the Wish Upon a Star on it, then Shudderblock mini + Shining Sentinel, or Shudderblock mini + Kalimos, Primal Lord to finish. Kalimos can do 18 damage to finish. its not perfect so heres the detail
1. i figured that there should be at least 3 spell that cost 5 or more for Hagatha the Fabled. if you draw one before you play her, it would be a big waste to only draw one card when played. that being said you don't always get to draw Wish Upon a Star on the Slime, unless you drop one of the 5 or more spells and only run 2. if you do run 3, and you don't get the Wish Upon a Star Slime, then you can use Shudderblock for other combos. some i like: Doctor Holli'dae first , then Shudder or their mini + Sand Art Elemental or their mini for 2 of the Staff of the Nine Frogs Frogs. and Shudderblock + Zilliax Deluxe 3000 (summon a copy lifesteal)
2. Shining Sentinel is still pretty good even if you play Wish Upon a Star normally without Hagatha Slime Shudderblock combo. especially if you can pair it directly with Shudderblock for 4 Shining Sentinels. they don't look that great but they will force the opponent to trade badly or use tones of AOE spell to deal with it.
3. i ended maybe half of the games i played with Kalimos. as long as you played an elemental the turn before you can get the 18 damage. Sand Art Elemental or its mini is also great for triggering it if you cant pair with Shining Sentinel. i also run Shock Hopper as back up if i don't draw and play it early
Win con 2: Windfury
Sand Art Elemental or its mini will give +1 attack and windfury to your hero. paired with Turn the Tides is 8 damage. Sand Art or it mini + Turn the Tides + Staff of the Nine Frogs 10 damage and 2 taunts. Sand Art mini + Tides + Staff + lightning reflexes that pulls a Tide is 16 damage and 2 taunts. Horn of the Windlord + Tides + lighting reflexes that pulls 2 Tides is 24 damage.
Excavate:
i run Excavate for a lot of reasons 1. the extra stuff before the final reward is almost good enough on their own. 2. their bodies will get buffed from Wish Upon a Star. 3. Sir Finley, the Intrepid 4. Shroomscavate can turn any big Frog into a huge threat or win con
edits and additions:
Lighting Reflexes is really good for this deck because of how much weapon usage there is. one lighting reflexes can pull 2 Altered Chord. or it can pull 2 Amphibious Elixirs that can also give 2 altered chords
please leave any adjustments or suggestions you think you improve the deck. I'm trying to see how high into legend i can get with the deck. I'm trying a view changes to see if there's an improvement
thanks for share bro, can you please make a video playing this :)
Do you update for new patch ?? I have problems with DH matchup
I love this deck
I did take out the excavate package for some card draw and ETC which turned out amazing. ETC with Glacial Shard, Rustrot Viper and Son of Hodir is crazy. You get weapon removal and a Shudderblock Wincon. Either with Kalimos or Hodir, and on curve playing hodir and wishing it makes it pretty nice, and shudderwishing it is.. well you get the idea.
For Kalimos I added a Tar Elemental and a Air Elemental. Both are 1 mana and Wish makes them bangers.
My first heavy deck. Have a lot of fun. Thx u so much for sharing !
I went 6 wins 4 losses at diamond 5. solid deck, fun singleton gameplay going on. lots of little synergies. take your outs where you can get them. I got away with triple wish upon a star, but it was against a DK with a bad draw. I wish hagatha into shuddercock into wish upon a star wasn't too slow for this meta.
I do think this deck needs one or two more pieces of card draw, though. Card Grader looks good, Plucky Paintfin could pull Burrow Buster or Zilliax, something as simple as Ancestral Knowledge also overloads and activates Flowrider.
Sir finley is an excellent reason to run the excavate package, but it's really hard to get it even to the 2nd charge and make him active some games.
In my 10 games, I don't think I ever once played Horn of the Windlord, I usually had the frog staff up, or didn't have the time to play it. I don't know if you tried an Ignis forge package, but shaman's class forge card is pretty irrelevant. Sand Art Elemental would go really well with an ignis weapon though.
I have a crackpot fun idea. What if we found room for Muck Pools, Workshop Janitor, and Prison of Yogg-Saron. Draw 2 is really good, Muck Pools can help with early tempo, and Fairy Tale Forest draws her and makes her cheaper and activated. Adds another handful of cards that synergize with each other, draws you cards and playing prison in a control deck is always a fun time.
I don't believe in the Kalimos dream at all. We don't run elementals dense enough to activate it consistently, 18 damage when paired with shuddercock is only okay. the ONLY time in 10 games Kalimos was active is when I discovered a zero cost elemental to play the turn before.
i edged to this deck
Love the variety here. Lot's of way's to play. Solid deck.
:)
