A slightly tweaked version of VS meta report Control Warlock, this got me to Diamond 5 first time ever at 62% WR. It's mostly the same deck, except lower mana curve and Raise Dead + Rustwix.
I decided to cut out some of the greedier/costlier cards (Mutanus, Strongmen etc.) and teched in cheaper alternatives. Raise Dead pulls some serious weight in almost every stage of the game: Copying 1-drops early on (halts aggro) or giving you another copy of Rustwix or Tickatus vs Control. Scorpids are just generally good minions, and Dungar offer some much needed (albeit delayed) burst healing.
Another important swap was replacing Siphon Soul with Unstable Shadow Blast. For the most part they'll do the same, except Unstable is 3 mana cheaper, which makes it easier to remove early threats, especially those pesky 4 Health minions Warlock tends to struggle with. Sure, you take face damage, but you'd take even more dmg if you just left the minions alive. Cheaper cost also makes it easier to copy off of Tamsin.
Since Primes cost 7-10 Mana, you can corrupt Tick reliably.
I can add some HSReplays and more detailed stats if anyone's interested. Shaman is an awful matchup, but surprisingly Hunter isn't an unwinnable matchup. I've tested another similar list with few tweaks:
- 1x Unstable Shadow Blast
- 2x Drain Soul
- Tamsin
- Dungar
+ 2x Hysteria
+ 1x Mutanus
+ 2x Midway Manian (for blocking weapon hits, definitely placeholders)
The latter seems to perform little better vs shaman, but not considerably better. I've tried Death's Head Cultists too, but they seem to trade poorly vs most stuff so I ended up dropping them. So far I haven't figured out the silver bullet tech, but you can try Mor'Shan Watch Posts if you really want to. I previously tried them and they seem to attract Lightning Bolts, Stormstrikes and Serpenshrine Portals like no tomorrow. They can much up your rezz pool though, but it's not catastrophic for this deck.
Just tried this for roughly 10 games now, and it's really, really bad. Every rush/aggro deck outpaces you and you rely so heavily on rng and drawing health, or else you die by turn 6. Don't recommend for climbing.
Hate to admit it, but you're right. This worked out fairly well before recent nerfs, but now it's all Elemental Shaman, Deathrattle DH and Druids. They're all bad matchups.
At the moment it seems like Rustwix, Y'Shaarj and TIckatus (probably Tamsin too) are just too slow & impractical to use right now. And without them, Cascading Disasters are nigh-impossible to corrupt anyway. This deck would need a lot more proactiveness to stand a chance vs meta decks.
Great deck, looking forward to upgrades, any chance to add Nozdormu?
