Hey everyone, I'm Gatormatthew. I finish top 500 on NA every month, and I make educational Hearthstone content. Today's guide is on what might be the most fun deck I've ever played: Miracle Priest. It's a really unique deck that I went 9-6 with in my early legend climb (was in gold ranks, but I have 11x star bonus MMR, so it was vs 11x players). It is also extremely cheap and has an extremely high skill cap, every turn is a journey to think through. Below, I have a written guide where I discuss the deck as well as a YouTube video where I play a few games and commentate my plays, Enjoy!
So, I know what all of you are wondering. "How in the world does that garbage looking list win games?" Frankly, I'm not too sure either. The clear win condition is generating spells with Sethekk Veilweaver. This card is legitimately the only threat generator in the deck, however, we do have two copies of Raise Dead to get more of them. Another easy question to ask is "Why would you put Voracious Reader in this deck?" I have a more clear answer to this one. While it looks crazy, it has inherent synergy with the deck's low-cost spells and Nazmani Bloodweaver. The main problem with Nazmani Bloodweaver with such a low curve is you just run out of steam. There are two ways to remedy this in this list, you can play a Sethekk Veilweaver alongside it to generate value, or you can just play all of your spells and Voracious Reader after it. It essentially acts as a way to cycle and draw, combing well with Nazmani Bloodweaver.
I've tested a lot of different lists of this out and I think there are a lot of ways to take this deck. Ideas I have are things like Idol of Y'Shaarj and G'huun the Blood God. These two cards both work great with discounts and provide you fuel to use later on in the game. However, I actually never really had a problem with running out of steam with this deck. If you do, I'd try these cards. Gift of Luminance is a more practical lategame bomb in my head. It works great when generated, so why not maindeck it? If you see lots of control decks, I would include a copy (the card you cut first from my list is Whispers of EVIL). A point against the Idol and G'huun is that the deck wins through fatigue mostly, not rushing people down.
Mulligan wise, the #1 goal of the deck is to corrupt Insight at all costs. The reason we run so little minions is so this card always gets us a power piece. To mulligan for this, we always keep Insight andPalm Reading. They have incredible synergy together and work well against any style of decks. Against tempo-based matchups, keep Nazmani Bloodweaver. Don't get baited into thinking this is a combo piece, dropping this on turn 3 vs Aggro DH, for example, is a great way to contest their board and corrupt Insight.
If you want to see me play live on Twitch, I stream every weekend from 1pm-3pm EST and every Mon/Wed/Fri from 1:45pm-3:45pm EST. Link to Twitch
I replaced the whispers of evil with Inner fire, its easy to build up a minions with high health, but not high attack in my opinion. This takes care of it for the most part.
Very fun deck, good job. In my opinion 2 changes are needed: -2 Shadow Word: Pain, +2 Questing Adventurer, they are exceptionally good in this deck
If you wanted to add Questing, I would cut Voracious Reader. I don't think you want more than 6 minions, and questing is super bad with reader. They both pretty much have the same purpose/fill the same slot.
No, I absolutely disagree. You have 1 good card generator, if you dont hit it, you sit without cards in hand. You need some cycle. Cards compliment eachother. Without card draw questing is not good at all, cause when you throw all your hand to grow Questing and your opponent happens to have removal, its gg. And without questing this deck does not have any win condition
Deck does have a win condition: Fatigue, to be fair. I can see questing working, but reducing insight consistency is not something I love
so your video says f2p priest which suggests that there's an expensive version of it. Is it the case? If yes can you link it please?
As I said in another comment, when I say "f2p" in my videos it is just a deck that is cheap. I don't make decks worse for them to be f2p. This is the list I would play, it happens to be cheap, so I call it f2p :)
oh, okay. Thank you very much. I played the deck today for an hour or so and it is a blast to play. Deck shapes out a wincon out of nowhere. Matchup wise, I could win games in casual but winning games was really hard on ladder.
I made few small changes though, put 2x Vulpera Scoundrel instead of readers. It can corrupt insight and when you draw it via insight, it becomes a 1 mana 2/3 discover a spell which is nuts. Also exchanged one pain with one death. What do you think?
Vulpera sounds decent actually. Insight corruption is nice. I never thought of it, it also gives some extra fuel as does reader. Nice addition!
When i saw this deck i actually laughed in bliss.
Now that im playing it and it works miracles(pun intented) i couldnt be more happy!
Glad you enjoyed :)
Aaaaah so that's what that last priest I faced was playing!
I killed him with C'thun and Rattlegore btw....
I was trying something similar.. maybe quest adveturer can work here? i mean.. so many 0 cost spells
Questing could easily replace Voracious Reader. I'm not too sure which one is better (reader is cheaper, so I went with it)
ill test the replacement... because sometime readed is useless in hand.. specially with 2 sethekk in field
It's pretty fun when most of your hand is 0 cost.
Picture taken before plague of death o_o
I played a few games last night with this and had a very similar result! It's quite funny when you have too much value.
I have never played Priest but will try this list for sure!
Good luck!
