Hey everyone, I'm Gatormatthew. I finish top 500 on NA every month, and I make educational Hearthstone content. Today's guide is on the single best deck to play outside of legend: Aggro DH. Its matchup spread is unbelievable outside of Soul DH. In the video guide, I beat GMs like Monsanto with games lasting under three minutes :) . Below is a video guide where I play a few games in top 500 legend and explain my plays, as well as a quick written guide for the deck. Enjoy, and good luck on your climb :)
The main gameplan for this deck is to win the board early game and continuously hit your opponent in the face with it. We establish snowballing early minions such as Battlefiend and Redeemed Pariah. These minions give us an early advantage and continue to grow in stats. Then, we use Guardian Augmerchant and Wriggling Horror to push that advantage further. The deck then goes for a burn plan with cards like Stiltstepper and Dreadlord's Bite.
In terms of the deck's mulligan, you want to look for Battlefield, Blazing Battlemage, and Redeemed Pariah. Intrepid Initiate is a great keep on the coin.. If you already have a one cost, you can also consider keeping Umberwing. Bonechewer Brawler and Guardian Augmerchant can often be kept together, especially on the coin. Remember, mulligans change with each matchup, so use this as a general guide. Like a certain card in a certain matchup? Keep it. Mulligans are all about being flexible.
If you want to see me play live on Twitch, I stream every weekend from 1pm-3pm EST and every Mon/Wed/Fri from 1:45pm-3:45pm EST. Link to Twitch
Currently Plat 2 and this doesn't work anymore for me
haha
How can anyone have fun playing this mindless bs; even promoting this crap?
Game over by turn 5? much fun, much skill
Srsly, this games community is pure trash
Nope, not working well anymore
So which one is it now? DH or Paladin?

Today's guide is on Pure Paladin. I believe this is the single best deck in the game to play right now, especially outside of legend.
Reposting from other thread
Yeah, no worries. DH was the best deck to play at the time of posting the guide. The meta was unrefined, and aggro DH took advantage of that.
As the meta shifted, 2 major decks starting to show up: Control Warrior and Soul DH. As these 2 decks suddenly dominated the meta, aggro Dh's stock fell (however, I do have an idea to make the matchup vs those decks better)
Again, the guides were posted almost a week apart. Pure Paladin beats Control Warrior and Soul DH, which are the new meta decks. Aggro DH was the best deck outside of legend when I posted the guide, but a swarming of Soul DH's probably stopped that (but again, I will be testing a new aggro build that might have a better chance vs the slow decks)
I appreciate you checking the discrepancies though :)
Thank´s for the reply! I crafted your pally deck and currently grinding from Diamond to Legend. But damn those Control Warriors with their braindead weapons are tough to beat when they don't completely misdraw.
Why even pretend that "having fun" is an option?
I find the mana burn quite situational and sometimes completely useless. It's especially weak against hunters who can rush you down fast if you draw it with a slower hand and their explosive trap is also annoying as well. So I've substituted the mana burns for beaming sidekicks who can buff the health of your damage dealers so they can survive better in certain matchups and I will at least have a minion to play instead of a spell which does essentially nothing. Also, mage's flame ward will hurt those low health minions as well, so sidekick is nice here too. I will be trying this setup out in the next following days, but so far I'm on a nice winning streak after making the changes.
Agreed, the utility of mana burn seems a bit low-value in most match ups.
Manaburn is a backbreaking against slower decks. You manaburn people out of their Brawl turns, their Overgrowth turns, things like that. The change from burn -> sidekick is a fine one though, burn is one of the weaker cards and sidekick is one of the first cards I would add.

Deck is insane good for climbing, thanks for the guide as well
No problem man! I have more coming in the future! Stay tuned!
Gone from plat 8 to diamond 1 very quick with this, only noticed you've said to swap pariah and sigil for beaming and companion do you still think that's the case? Beaming always feels like a horrible draw but very good with a good mulligan.
Yeah I would still make those changes. Pariah just doesn't seem like a fantastic card based on the data.
Glad the deck is working so well though :)
Yeah been 1 game off legend like 5 times now, any tips for warrior? Feels pretty unwinnable.
yeah, man. honestly, this deck beats everything but etc control warrior and soul dh. those matchups are both pretty hard to win (but i would not call it unwinnable). good look in your climb to legend :)
This was probably a fluke compared to your usual content, but please don’t chew during your videos and especially tutorial guides. Great video still, great breakdown and explanation, just couldn’t get through the whole video personally with the sound.
I got the complaint about whatever that noise is (I wasn't chewing) only on this video. I'm going to assume it was a fluke in this video, but I still don't really know what the noise actually was :P
