Hey everyone, I'm Gatormatthew. I finish top 500 on NA every month, and I make educational Hearthstone content. Today's guide is on the single best deck to play outside of legend: Aggro DH. Its matchup spread is unbelievable outside of Soul DH. In the video guide, I beat GMs like Monsanto with games lasting under three minutes :) . Below is a video guide where I play a few games in top 500 legend and explain my plays, as well as a quick written guide for the deck. Enjoy, and good luck on your climb :)
The main gameplan for this deck is to win the board early game and continuously hit your opponent in the face with it. We establish snowballing early minions such as Battlefiend and Redeemed Pariah. These minions give us an early advantage and continue to grow in stats. Then, we use Guardian Augmerchant and Wriggling Horror to push that advantage further. The deck then goes for a burn plan with cards like Stiltstepper and Dreadlord's Bite.
In terms of the deck's mulligan, you want to look for Battlefield, Blazing Battlemage, and Redeemed Pariah. Intrepid Initiate is a great keep on the coin.. If you already have a one cost, you can also consider keeping Umberwing. Bonechewer Brawler and Guardian Augmerchant can often be kept together, especially on the coin. Remember, mulligans change with each matchup, so use this as a general guide. Like a certain card in a certain matchup? Keep it. Mulligans are all about being flexible.
If you want to see me play live on Twitch, I stream every weekend from 1pm-3pm EST and every Mon/Wed/Fri from 1:45pm-3:45pm EST. Link to Twitch
Update: I got to legend for the first time with this deck. I went up and down from D5 to D2 twice and then got to D1 and then back down to D5 again. Gatormatthew told me to keep playing the deck so I would learn the matchups and what to play around and he was right. I tested 8 versions of this deck because if it's a science project, I don't get "ladder anxiety" as bad LOL. Thanks for the deck and guide.
Hey dude this list differes from the more "well known" current aggro list by not playing Beaming Sidekick and Acrobatics in favor of Redeemed Pariah and Spectral Sight
how come you've chosen the Pariah package. Did you playtest it and found it better than the other cards, or was it more "on accident" and you stuck with it since it worked?
i mean there are only 5 cards in the deck with outcast
I do not believe that Acrobatics has any place in the deck. Assuming you are taking your list from Viscious Syndicate, I asked the owner of the site why he did not include Spectral sight, and he said there just wasn't enough data to add it to the deck. Acrobatics consistently shows as the worst card in every aggro DH its in, while spectral sight is around a mid tier card.
To speak on the topic of Pariah, I don't actually think it warrants a spot in the deck anymore. It was very good in my playing, but since so many people are playing this list of mine there is actually data on it now, and pariah looks pretty bad.
From my list, I would cut Pariah and Sigil and add a demon companion and a beaming sidekick.
Thanks for the comment, hope the video and guide were helpful :)
No i was referring to the list on HSReplay. Fun thing ist that indeed, Acrobatics has a played winrate of 48% which makes it the worst card in the deck.
A similar list that plays Spectral Sight shows a 55% winrate when played ... still the worst performing card in the deck, but looks better at least comparing numbers ...
I'm still not 100% sold wether 2 Mana draw 2 or 3 Mana draw "4" ist better ...
Played winrate as a stat is useless. The only reasonable stat to look at is drawn winrate. Acrobatics draws 4 cards on around turns 6-7, when the game is already over. Spectral is active almost immediately.
Great deck - I had a 9/2 streak on my climb from D4 to D1. Taking a pause to try again later. Thanks for the deck gatormatthew!
A good idiot-proof deck for climbing to legend. Went 19-8 from Diamond 4ish into Legend making plenty of misplays along the way. I luckily faced a disproportionate number of Shamans and went 7-1 against them. Went 4-4 against Demon Hunters.
Great to here :)
I saw this deck yesterday and i made some tweaks to make it from D5 to Legend . I didn't like the Augmerchant and the Pariah. But boy did the Stiltstepper prove me wrong after lowering the curve even more. Good stuff.
/edit : Adding Beaming Sidekick is GOOD. Don't h8 .
If you cut merchant and pariah you also cut the bonechewer brawlers and the sigil runner. Merchant is there because of bonechew and the sigil is only there for bonechew.
glad the deck worked well!
Ok deck, but it has a huge problem: it looses to any deck with taunt or heal, it just runs out of steam. Even t3 decks like deathrattle hunters can beat it simply cause you cant pass their taunts. Its good vs agro though.
.
Good deck.
I hate you. I hate this deck. But when you cant beat them, join them. So within 5 games I already had 2 friend requests from people to tell me to **** off. Good deck.
Thats's the kind of response I like to hear :) Glad the deck is working
I don't have Stiltstepper. What cards should I replace them with?
Siltstepper is the best card in the deck by a wide margin. Without him, you would alter like 7-8 cards in the deck and pretty much just play last expansion's deck. The stepper is the entire reason for the deck.
OK. I will try to craft it from old cards. Thanks.
9-1 so far. Incredible. Almost always win at around turn 7.
Awesome!
Went 18-11 with this deck from full stars at diamond rank 3 to Legendary. I did swap out an Intrepid Initiate for Kayn the last 10 games or so, but of course I didn't need to use him to beat any taunts. Thanks for posting this deck.
