It turns out it's possible to mill your opponent because their deck only resets once during the enemy turn. After overdrawing your opponent 12 cards they're guaranteed to enter fatigue and further drawing will kill them. This deck relies on an infinite combo to pull this off on turn 3 when going second or turn 4 when going first.
Going Second:
On turn 2 play coin, coldlight, and shadowstep coldlight for a 1 mana coldlight in hand. On turn 3 play brann, counterfit coin, and the 1 mana coldlight from earlier. Continue shadowstepping the coldlight and playing it again until the opponent is fatigued. Always prep shiv on face when you have both in hand to free up hand space and play the counterfit coins to have enough mana to continue playing coldlights.
Going First:
On turn 3 play coldlight and shadowstep it back into hand. Turn 4 play brann and go into your coldlight combo from above.
Geez man... this is so disgusting... I LOVE IT :D
Best deck ever! Thanks.
WTF is going on? was working fine, all of a sudden opponents decks replenish themselves during my turn. Am I doing something wrong or did they patch the brawl?
The way it works (based on what I've seen and experienced of various mill decks in this brawl), the conditions to stop the deck from resetting are that a player needs to have a full hand (10 cards) when they reach the end of their deck. In other words, it only works if they do not have the possibility of drawing anymore cards and reach the end of their deck.
Bear in mind that this actually also works for yourself, so you could theoretically self mill and die from that.
I think going second, coin+Brann on turn 2 is better (why would you give cards to your opponent?)
Because the only two decks that can actually make use of those 2 extra cards on turn 3 is the mage deck that is running Sorcerer's Apprentice without Ice Block and the buffing priest deck. And if you don't draw those two cards yourself, it's possible (though unlikely), that you run out of steam on turn 3 by being unlucky and having one of your other Counterfeit Coins near the end of one of your rotations of 6 cards.
And if it is a Sorcerer's Apprentice deck, best thing you can do is try to kill the apprentice (via 2x Preparation and Shiv, though I personally prefer Fan of Knives or 1 of those combos + hero power) dropped on turn two, so that your opponent can't drop his second apprentice on turn three and go infinite (almost) and start milling you with Research Project. And yes, I understand that hero powering on 2 to kill the apprentice results in having to hold off your mill turn until turn 4, but it's better than allowing the mage to drop the 2nd apprentice on turn 3 and counter mill you as a response.
And against priest you're already at kind of a disadvantage, since in almost all the games I've played against them, they've assembled the combo pieces and are ready to nuke you on turn 3. I've gotten lucky a few times where I've Fan of Knivesed both the Radiant Elementals on turn two, making it so they could only buff one elemental to 24 on turn 3 instead of the 28 that would have got me killed.
Yea, you're right. After playing the deck for a while (I'm at 58 wins right now), running out of steam was the cause of defeat a few times. Also, thanks for the Fan of Knives tip, I'll try that.
Can't win against any mage with ice block.
Yeah, its the rock to our scissors. But this deck is far faster than any Ice Block deck, and it has a 100% win rate against everything else except for buff priest.
And I'll take that for tavern brawl farming 100% of the time over a deck that aims to win by drawing the game out.
Has this been changed somehow. Seems like I was milling myself, but not my opponent.
This is ridiculous... Quickest 5 win brawl quest finish ever. Opened with opponent instant conceding upon seeing Rogue, but the remaining opponents stayed... I guess it is not mainstream yet.
30 wins and 3 losses.
The first 2 losses is either a dupping bug that fills my hand with Brann and Oracle. Or, I'm just unlucky.
3rd loss is to a Mage whi must have had faced this deck before as they added Doomed Apprentice to their deck which screw my comci. If this becomes a thing, equip your Hero Power on turn 3 and Prep Shiv and Stab it to death.
Shiv is replaceable with any card cycle or draw spell that costs 3 or less.
Roll the Bones Draws you a card, but no Deathrattle in this.
Fan of Knives Draws you a card. Pings all enemy minions 1 damage. It's okay, but your should be dead on turn 3/4 that I do not see the point.
Mimic Pod Draws a card and makes a copy of it. Not good if it adds another Brann or Oracle to your hand.
I will still use Shiv.
After playing a single game with this and dominating my opponent, I almost thought Sinister Strike would be a better option than Shiv because it deals more damage (not that that matters) and takes up less space (so your hand isn't so full of useless Branns and Coldlights). The very next game, I reached a dead-end almost immediately.
Yeah, Shiv is better.
Fan of Knives is the best card, even if it can't hit face.
Right now, the only thing this deck loses to is mages that run Ice Block, and priests that highroll a buffed minion on turn 3 (or 2 with the coin). And you lose the mirror match if you go second unless the player going first is unlucky on his draw order and one of his Counterfeit Coins are near the end of his set of 6 cards, because first guy coins Brann Bronzebeard on 2, and then gets to unleash the fury first on turn 3.
Nothing you can do against Ice Block decks, its the rock to our scissors. But in terms of the priest, I've had a few games where pinging both 3 health minions made it so he could only buff one to 24 attack instead of 28 on turn 3, resulting in me surviving that extra turn. If I was only able to Shiv one of the minions, the priest would have buffed the other to 28, and I'd be dead as a result of the 28+2.
Never have I had a game in the 120 I've won so far that has resulted from me Shiving that extra damage or 2 to face.
Though it has no effect on the outcome of the game, it's also extra satisfying to Fan of Knives 2x Sorcerer's Apprentice along with 2 Mirror Images.
And while I can't be sure, I also think Fan of Knives has a shorter spell animation than Shiv, which may end up making a difference if you're running in to rope issues.
absolute cancer.
replace shiv with sap and u might actually win games
I'd think both would work. I stand at 25W - 1L.
Edit: Actually.... I'd keep Shiv as it draws cards for you.
The loss I believe was caused by a bug in this Brawl. I was playing too fast that I kept drawing Branns and Oracles. XD
20 games. 20 wins. This deck is made of pure EVIL!
