Hi All
Buffyslayer1 here, multiple time legend player with my 1st deck on hearthpwn.
New expansion is out and so it's time to experiment. So here we are with Bakumental mage which I have been playing since day 1 of the expansion.
I have already gone through a few changes and the list probably needs some further refinement but right now its crushing most classes.
The great thing about this deck is it doesn't play like a pure control deck. It's more a mid range deck which can go the distance with control due to Jaina and Azalina.
We often get the board I have found and can pressure combo decks enough as well to stall them getting down combo pieces. Versus aggro is does surprisingly well though Hunter is by far the toughest match up I have found so far.
About the Cards
Arcane Artificer -1 mana, gives much needed armour and is a elemental. Nuff said
Firefly - Crucial 1 drop especially against aggro and a elemental activator
Glacial Shard - Good 1drop, great versus aggro, delaying a big threat or putting a Hero Weapon out of action for a turn.
Black cat - New Witch wood card. The spell damage is not too important in this deck but the card draw is great. This deck actually draws much quicker than I thought and I had to take out some draw I had in originally due to the efficiency of this card.
Tar creeper - Elemental, great v aggro and a staple of most decks now.
Voodoo doll - Great synergy with Frost lich jaina. Assassinate a enemy threat and get a 3/6 Water elemental at the same time
Arcane Tyrant - Actually very crucial for this deck. Often turn 5 is a huge turn with clearing the board via Dragons fury, putting down a 0 mana 4/4 which also activates your elemental for turn 6. On coin its even better as we go, coin Fury into Tyrant into a turn 5 elemental.
Dragons Fury - With only running flamestrike this is nearly a guaranteed board clear. Plus Tyrants to reload the board after we clear.
Harrison Jones - Draw 3 destroy skull of the Man'ari. Yes please.
Servant of Kalimos - Reasonable 4/5 plus essentially draw a elemental card + adds some value to the deck
Bonfire Elemental - Love this card Azure drake for elementals
Azalina Soulthief - Almost a tech card, the deck was struggling versus control a little and sometimes I was finding myself with a dead hand in the endgame. I have not had the chance to play it that often but it has won me 6/7 games I should not have won all versus control decks when we have run out of gas.
Baron Geddon - Clear a pesky Paladin board which they reloaded 500 times due to the Hero power + heal synergy with Jaina.
Blazecaller - I never liked this card in previous elemental decks I had played for some reason. In this deck it runs very smoothly, rarely not active when you need it and a great tempo swing as well.
Flamestrike - Only other AOE in the deck but still solid classic card. I have even played it on a empty board to get 2x 0 mana 4/4 tyrants when my opponent it running low on threats!
Alexstrasza - If you get any kind of board late on, dropping Alex for 15 damage + board is devastating. She is actually one of the key win conditions against combo Shamen as we can put insane pressure on the board to keep them pulling off the combo very often.
Baku the Mooneater - The card itself is pretty meh and I haven't even played it that much. It's in the deck of course for the effect which is so powerful in the early to mid stages.
Frost Lich Jaina - Anti synergy with Baku. However, she is the late game win condition versus control if needed and provides late game heal also versus aggro.

Really nice deck. I like both the odd and even mage and the former seems to work both with more proactive decks with Mana Wyrm and secrets, whilst your deck is working really well as a midrange/late deck. I did swap Harrison for Ooze (think the deck has enough draw/value generation) and I changed geddon for Zola (don’t have geddon but Zola has proven its worth). My take can be summed up as below:
cons: warlock and taunt Druid (the lack of Polymorph is real struggle)
pros: everything else
cons again: the games take f*cking forever
i am currently 20-13 with it, 65% WR, and think I will be able to keep it up as long as Warlock and taunt Druid are not 50% of the meta.
i am not sure this is the final form of the deck. Consider cutting one kalimos for Zola which offers more flexibility. I love the deck though so good work!
Hey, man. Nice deck. I'm strugling with Dude Paladin, but the rest is winnable. I'm missing Baron Geddon. Which could be a suitable replacer?
