Returning Player Gifts - Up to 150 Packs!
Blizzard decided to do some end of year cheer and gave select players in Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Africa up to 150 packs, as a gift to entice them to come back and play Hearthstone again. Read some of the details about what went into this below!
Quote from BlizzardHello everyone,
With the 24.6 update we launched a special test campaign to welcome players that are returning to Hearthstone, in the form of 20, 80, and 150 card pack bundles. It’s been great to see the excitement from players receiving those bundles, but we’ve also seen some common questions on the details.
Regarding eligibility, this campaign is limited to particular regions and types of players. For this iteration of returning player gifts, we’ve expanded the number of countries across Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Africa.
Various additional factors went into determining gift tiers across player groups, such as when they were last active in Ranked, or the number of expansions they’ve engaged with. Those eligible received their gift on November 2, and have until December 31 to claim it.
As we continue making major updates to the game, our goal is to make it easier for players who may have missed out for a while to come back in, catch up to what’s new, and re-experience the fun of playing Hearthstone. We’ll continue monitoring data along with your feedback, and hope to make these more widely available in the future as we refine and welcome more players back to the Tavern.

Its random, not for everyone
Blizz doesnt care about active players, could hardly care about us.
same, i came back right before 24.6 after 2 years of not playing. 0 packs still. Thanks Blizzard, really fair, leaving everything to RNG. Jus like the fate of the company
You spent money on both accounts, right?
If you keep your Standard packs and wait until the launch of the next expansion, those cards can then also be found in those packs.
150 is hella of a number.
Couldn't care less, but if u are a player who plays like half an hour per day, it would be better for you if you dont play at all, which is quite hilarious
The 150 packs are clearly going to players who were at some point very invested in the game both in time and in money and have quit at some point.
For players who barely played and didn;t spend money, what's the incentive for Blizz to give them 150 packs?
So they would come back and still not spend time and money in the game?
This is not for them I would assume, but for former players who they feel might be swayed to become invested in the game again.
And they might have a point with this attempt, cause many people quit along the way for reasons that have since been adressed in some way.
We will see how this test goes and if it is continued.
I was in since closed beta, spent at least 1k on the game and was very active till right before demon hunter release. Began again sometimes last year and quit again round about 6 month ago. Got only 20 packs. They can go anf f**k themself. No clear and transparent communication. As always. Why the hell do they do it? I can't understand why the ruined the game like they did. Why the hell do they need to squeeze even more money out of their player alongside packs and sub-like features like tavern pass or battleground pass. Why the hell do they pump in so many cosmetics that, be honest, nobody needs. After Mike left blizz the philosophy shifted from "for the player" to milk the cash cow. They are a business and i get it they need to make money and/to keep it going. But how it is today? A shame what has become of Blizzard...
How long do you need to remain inactive to claim those packs?
So people are actually quiting the game..
Well, I mean I quit after they put that asinine battle pass into the game... And honestly some of this announcement almost makes it seem like they're "willing" to sell you the packs at a discount instead of a straight up gift. Could be mistaken, but the Battle.net client never really updates news to speak of so...
The battlepass gives you more gold than before
No it doesn't. I would start every expansion with around 7500-8000 gold. Now I start with around 5600. They give packs but they're not enough to make up that difference and they're not always the latest expansion making them worth less than 100 gold.
I have 7600 aprox playing only daily quest and theres still a month until the new exp m8
