Dont know when Garrosh decided that horde gonna be just plundering renegades without any "honor", I know HS is different from WoW but why do we need new pirates?
This is one HUNDRED percent wrong. The worst case scenario (your opponent guesses right) is still stronger for you because you also got a minion out of it, and will of course use the card yourself, AND can probably do more with the card you chose.
It is also more likely that they will guess wrong, and in that case, it's extremely strong. These cards are a mind game. Your opponent will always be thinking "okay, so of the 3, this one is the best, but did they choose something else because this normally would be the obvious pick?"
These types of cards will see play in a lot of archtypes. Like yeah you might not run this in control warrior, because even a 3 mana 3/4 discover a weapon is just okay there, but you are insane if you think this isn't a staple 2-of in every pirate warrior.
You're right about pirate warrior, but even in that, I'd be a little scared to play this against a Questlock, for example.
We'll see in a couple days, I will laugh at all the downvotes. Not a single deck will play these cards. You will experiment once with it, fail hard, hate the opponent for guessing right and never look at it ever again.
No it's not, stop thinking you're smarter than the opponent. It will be extremely easy to guess, assuming you go for the strongest choice, as you should be, since it would be a terrible card to play otherwise, vanilla stats to discover a bad card is not a good idea in 2022, your opponent will be happy to guess wrong if you went for the weaker card lol.
I am not insane I have a different opinion, stop being a dick. Name what card you will remove from current very refined pirate warrior decklist to include this garbage please.
Nope he is right. You spend mana on vanilla stats, and the upside is also one for your opponent. If they see play, then only right now if a deck lacks good options, but those will be the first cards to cut. They are all horrible in the mirror. Cards like this (the 3/2 murloc grifta and the spell guy eg) are all bad. They saw play in the early days of the game, but that’s years ago. They can have merit in a control deck vs aggro if you get something defensive, but why don’t play a good card to begin with?
I disagree with you, because you'll end your turn and your opponent will be able to use the weapon before you do. If it's a good weapon, that'll backfire.
Anyone knows when the card dump is? Since theorycraft is tomorrow
absolutely wrong imo. If pirate warrior plays this you dont care about receiving a weapon but the pirate warrior do.
And why exactly don't I care about receiving a free good card lol ? Especially in the case of pirate warrior, a board based deck, you give me a great card to clear the board, sure, go ahead, see if I don't care.
Name one card that gives something good to the opponent and sees/saw meta play.
You either pick a bad weapon to play the pirate on-curve, either use him as a finishing tool by discovering a weapon. Its decent i'd say, wouldn't run 2 of those in a deck however.
Card is solid I'd say. You are more likely to make good use of the weapon anf your opponent might guess wrong.
Anyone know what happened to the previous reveal?
I've got to wonder, how does timing work with these "If your opponent guesses" cards.
I would assume it actives right after your choice, but how long does you opponent have to make the choice? Can they rope you out waiting for you to pick? Or do they have until the end of your turn. Not sure how I feel about an opponent having a choice on your turn...
The choice is offered at the start of opponent's turn and will take their turn time. On your turn, your opponent never needs to act.
So that makes this card a bit worse then. With this being 3 mana, you could easily get it on turn 6 or 7, play it, get a 1 to 4 cost weapon that you might want to play to clear an enemy minion, but have the drawback of being unable to play it unless you want to give you opponent a free weapon.
I'm not that big a fan of this card unfortunately...
The 3 cards that have this effect will never see play.
If there is an obvious strong choice, either you give your opponent a strong card, or you're forced to pick a bad choice so the opponent doesn't guess it, aka you're forced to play a shit card. It's not like the game is lacking good discover cards, why play this instead of one that never gives your opponent a card for free.
good thing the cards have premium stats then
3 mana 3/4 and 1 mana 1/3 are not premium stats anymore my dude, they are average, a ton of cards have these stats without giving anything to the opponent.
I would play Spider Tank over this and that's the original 3 mana 3/4, one of the worst ones.
Unfortunately, I don't see this being useful for quest warrior unless weapon removal becomes a lot more common.
Compare to the similar card Warrior already has
Stormwind Freebooter 3 mana 3/4 that allows attack at no extra mana cost.
Sword Eater (wild) 4 mana 2/5 that equips a 3/2 weapon.
This is basically competing with all the other 3 cost pirates and falling short because it adds a drawback and the only benefit you still have to pay mana for.
I could see it being useful if it had some sort of cost reduction on the weapon (or was able to get other class weapons or the back end of the Azsharan Trident or Rokara's Unstoppable Force weapon). The current quest warrior only needs a weapon if the existing free weapon from the first stage of the quest gets used up/destroyed or the final stage hasn't been completed. Having to pay 3 mana for the pirate and then a weapon on top of that is just going to slow quest completion down.
For removal the 4 health dodges the common rogue removal (Tooth of Nefaian & Extortion - and the new Serrated Bone Spike), so takes either a hero power weapon or Wicked Stab (turn 5 or later). It's outside the Demonic Assault/Drain Soul, but still inside warlock curse card removal & quest hunter can just spell + hero power. It just doesn't get quite out of range.
It is admittedly nice if the game gets to 10 mana points since you can play it AND Remornia/Gorehowl at the same time, but that is late if using the quest. A weapon-based warrior may have use for it. Harbor Scamp -> Suspicious Pirate -> Lady Ashvane (but getting the cards to hand may still be an issue in the age of Prince Renthal)
lol? Why would you play spider tank in a pirate deck? Bit of a mistake there I think.
