I would love to make a survey to gauge the thirst of the Hearthstone's player community for a viable Totem Shaman list in 2022.
I mean, do they really think it's the direction to go for?
Well, after all, it just took a couple of miniset cards to make people play murloc shaman again, so I guess I might be wrong, right?
I am thirsty for a viable totem shaman. Why? Because we never had one.
I mean, Even Shaman was essentially the best take on a Totem Shaman archetype we’ll ever get. It was criminally underplayed for how strong it was, and there’s one simple reason for it being that strong: it fundamentally changed how fast you could summon Totems. Because, and let’s be honest, summoning Basic totems for 2 mana is abysmal.
In other words, if the developers really want Totem Shaman to be an archetype, change the cost of Shaman’s HP to 1.
Wouldn’t that be a cool card? “Start of Game: If all minions in your deck are Totems, change the cost of your Hero Power to (1).”
That's wrong. We've had multiple totem t1 decks over the history of HS.
Selective memory.
Don't get me wrong a little totem token action is a good thing.
Those weren't totem decks. Those were Tunnel Trogg decks.
I honestly feel like the infused version of this card could have been printed as is and it'd still be an "eh, maybe" card. Shaman currently has no 1 drop aside from the 1/2 deathrattle murloc which is highly unlikely to die twice by turn 3, and unless we see some serious lategame totem support, this is kinda shit past like turn 4/5. I'm not really seeing it.
As if any Shaman would not run Schooling to fit in the 1-mana slot?
Looks unplayable, unless they reveal a card that allows you to mana discount totems (similar to what Clownfish does to Murlocs).
This is also good on evolve Shaman, mind you all
Not really. Evolve Shaman wants minions that go wide on a battlecry (like Desert Hare in the past), not on an end of turn effect.
Basic totems count as 1-cost cards. Pumping out a board full of random 3-cost minions probably isn't going to cut it in the new meta.
I'm not sure if totems have any place in the game these days.
The card starts being decent only after playing The Stonewright and getting the infusion. Without those two, you will be run over by 2 minions while not getting any value early on.
I think it would still be unplayable with Stonewright. Just compare it to warlock mischievous imp, or mechs. Totems don't really do anything 🤔
Would you look at that, it's a Totem!
This being Infuse (2) makes it really easy to upgrade, and the Infused version will snowball very quickly if it isn't dealt with the turn after. Will this card make Even Shamans put the 3 cost Totem cards in their deck instead, only time will tell.
It's cool and plays well into The Stonewright, but I do really feel like this is still the wrong direction for totems. They're not murlocs.
You are so so right. Keeping the design of "0 atk that cast its effect at the end of the turn", you can imagine unique effects pretty easily ("cast last battlecry", "cast a x mana spell from your deck on an opponent", "cast a deathrattle on itself from your deck", "cast your heroc power", "equip a random weapon", ect., ect..).
