Format

Day 1

This tournament was played with the 16 eligible players divided into 2 Lobbies, A and B. On Day 1 three games were played in each Lobby, with a simple scoring system, ranging from 7 points from first place to 0 points for last place, with the rest of the rules the same as you would find in any other Lobby in Hearthstone. The first 4 players in the standings after 3 games in each Lobby make it through to the Top 8 on Day 2.

Day 2

In the Top 8 on Day 2 was played in the so called "Check Format". What this means is that the players get points for their ranks in each game, just like on Day 1. Instead of capping off after 3 games however, the point total is counted up to 20 points, which is the "Check" point.

After the moment a players gets 20 points their goal is to end as a winner in 1 Game, which secures them the victory. So getting a first place before hitting 20 points does nothing. This means several players can end up with 20 points, and that multiple games might have to be played to decide a winner and that the first player to 20 might not end up the winner, if they cannot secure a first place finish afterwards.

Results

It took 5 games for 2 players to put the Lobby on Check, and it was BeterBabbit and Alucard! But the next game saw a back and forth between a lot of players and only at the very end did 3 players emerge who not only fought for victory in Game 5, but also added their names to the list of players with the Lobby in Check, with Satellite, KidFive and MXJF. This meant that more than half the players had the Lobby in Check and only needed a win in Game 7 to win the title!

With a never before seen tension in the lobby it was the 3 players who did NOT have the Lobby in check that started off strong first. They continued going strong towards the end game, and as the players with the Lobby in check fell one by one, there was only 1 player among them who remained strong: KidFive. But in an amazing back and forth between 3 players, all 3 vying for an edge over the other with huge pirates and poison murlocs, it was Butterfly who fell, which meant things came down to KidFive and Ribapusa in the final rounds.

In a tactical back and forth rarely seen in Lobby Legends the 2 players battled back and forth with Ribapusa fighting to win and be among the players to put the Lobby in Check and KidFive fighting for the title outright. With the final fight in the final round coming down to the very last minion, it was KidFive who claimed the victory and with it, the title of Lobby Legends: Fire Festival Champion!

Final Standings

Final Thoughts

This was easily the most hard fought Lobby Legends to date, and if you have the time, be sure to watch the final few games, because they were the most poignant argument any one could make as to why you should watch these tournaments live! There will be further Lobby Legends in the months to come, so we hope to see you again for those, as of yet unnamed, Tournaments!

In the meantime, let us know your thoughts about this official Battlegrounds tournament in the comments!
