Mercenaries: Exploit Fixes - BG: Toki Disabled - Patch Notes Coming This Week
During the night several hotfixes went out and Blizzard announced Patch Notes for Patch 21.6 to be coming out this week as well as a bigger communication update for Mercenaries coming next week. Read the details below!
UPDATE: Another Hotfix was added, which is in the process of being deployed. Read more below!
Quote from Blizzard10/26 Update: We deployed a small server-side hotfix today to address an issue preventing Mercenaries MMR from properly adjusting after players lose a game at 0 MMR (such as players who lost their first-ever Fighting Pit game). The patch also prevents a hack that allowed players to cheat more than 6 Mercenaries into their Party. This is our last planned hotfix for the 21.4 patch cycle. Look out for future updates in the 21.6 Patch Notes, coming later this week, ahead of next week’s patch!
10/26 Update 2: We have temporarily disabled Toki from Battlegrounds due to a bug with some of her skins. We are preparing a fix and will reenable her once we are able to get the hotfix in to correct the bug.
10/26 Update 3: We’ve rolled out a server-side hotfix that addresses exploits in the Fighting Pit rewards system that players were abusing through wintrading. Going forward, wins will only count towards Fighting Pit daily rewards if you defeat three or more enemy Mercenaries. This change will not affect how MMR is calculated after a win, regardless of how many enemies were defeated.
Separately, we see that many players are excited about Mercenaries. We wanted to let you know that we are working on a bigger Mercenaries communication update that we have planned for next week.
Update Late Wednesday the 27th:
Quote from Blizzard10/27 Update: We are in the process of deploying a server-side hotfix that:
- Fixes a bug that prevented players from claiming Mercenaries seasonal rewards if you passed the ranking threshold for that reward from a game where your opponent conceded too quickly. Note: this fix will not retroactively grant the seasonal awards to people who were affected by this bug. The team will manually grant those awards to the affected people at a later time.
- Fixes the bug that caused some Toki Battlegrounds skins to have an Attack value. Once the hotfix has been deployed, Toki will be added back into the Battlegrounds Hero Pool.
What's worse is, win traders are still trading, it didn't solve the problem one bit it just fucked over who were pvping for legit..
Yeah, you just pass turns and if your comp beats the other just cause of colors it'll be super fast lol. Blizzard fucked non wintraders and just slowed wintraders lol.
What the hell is the win trading anyway? Most people concede after they loose their first merc if you havent lost one yet. This is not the solution.
Evidently there was an issue that high level players were win trading by using mono-colored comps. Roll all green, insta-concede to all red and get conceded to by blue.
Win trading is when two friends queue at the same time so they get matched against each other. One would immediately concede to generate a win for the other person, then they'd swap. Both players score a lot of wins in a short time, resulting in tons of coins from daily PvP reward chests for both.
Well I fcking hope they'll come up with a better solution next week. It's clear as day they f'd up with their reward/progression systems in the 1st place and are forced to use band-aids. BUT if they leave it like this, the mode will die in 3 months.
make it a few days
blizzard wants to destroy EVERY easy way of getting coins without paying
Got to admire how quick Blizzard is to push fixes for issues that actively lose them money, while client crashes that have been around for months now simple dont get any attention, at least it appears that way.
While it was rather obvious that wintrading thing would get fixed, i am absolutely amazed how they managed to find the probably least elegant solution to the problem.
Separately, we see that many players are excited about Mercenaries... sure. We are removing all the good ways to farm quests and coins so hopefully you'll spend more money on packs, but millions of players are excited about Mercs.
Do wonder if there was a silent fix to coin rates with this. Today's Diablo coin drops have been Diablo-olical on N, which brings them in line with the Uther coins from normal - others were reporting higher rates on Diablo coins than I was getting for Uthers (on the scale of double, which is similar to HC). My data was vaguely supporting that from yesterday's few runs, then today the argument for it has collapsed.
Obviously, this is all speculation, but it's one explanation for my data diverging from earlier reports - and those Diablo cion reports from others felt like they could be a bug.
this is bullshit, 3 kills is too much, not only most people concede after their main guy dies, now people can cheese you if they feel salty and can take your rewards away.
this does not solve the wintrade problem, only slows it down. On the other hand, it screws with people who play PvP normally, they get much less rewards now.
I hope they change this back and find a better solution for all
It's concerning to me as well. It's not uncommon that people concede just after losing their 2nd merc. The problem could be fixed with more players or bots for people who keep facing the same opponent.
Frustrated players that just concede after they lose the initial round, wont give xp now :(
lol I knew the wintrading thing would get instantly stopped
