Alliestrasza and Lt. Eddy Cancel Card Reveals over Blizzard Allegations and Law Suit
Content Creators Alliestrasza and Lt. Eddy, who were both scheduled to have card reveals today both decided to not do their reveals on the scheduled time due to news that broke about a law suit against ActivisionBlizzard about sexual harrassment and gender based discrimination.
Here is a link to a story on The Verge which has all the relevant information about that suit, including a statement by ActivisionBlizzard on the topic.
Below you will find the courageous video message by Alliestrasza explaining why she made her decision, as well as Lt. Eddy's tweets on the topic.
FRIDAY EDIT: Trump has announced today that he is also pulling his card reveal. Blizzard also decided to pull more reveals from their own official channels, scheduled in the next few hours. See the video in which Trump explains his reasoning below.
Hey folks, not releasing my card reveal today. https://t.co/YzFRcjwFyk pic.twitter.com/rkXEVuPM4K

Please note: This happens at other companies, if not most. Even your own workplace that you’re unaware of. Please stand up against this behavior if you see it.

Very well said and done by Alliestrasza and Lt. Eddy!
Creative way to show their respect and support to the vicitims. But what else can the community do (besides boycotting)?
Everyone in Hearthstone and the community will notice this and taking some thoughts about this is the least everyone of us can do!
To everyone who cries about the missing reveal: pls.
Hi guys! I'm here just to virtue signal and then still reveal my card tomorrow because I'd never actually put my money where my mouth is and cut ties with Blizzard. I want to just look good and then still benefit from this said evil company, k thx bye!
BTW, I don't give a shit about the card reveal being delayed and I'm sure Blizzard has bad employees, but I just hate when people virtue signal like this when shit hits the fan and then immediately suck up to them again once it's cooled down. Cut ties with Blizzard completely and I'd be impressed with your bravery/commitment to the cause. Or don't, just don't this narcissistic shite to look "empathetic". Bored of it.
So you want somebody to stop supporting something that's been the cause of their livelihood in order to "truly" support the issue? You can still play a game and/or support a part of a company while vilifying heinous acts from other individuals in said company and showing support to those affected. You don't have to completely cut all ties with them in order to make your support and more or less valid.
Why did people down vote this, he's 100% correct.
Yup, if you don't like them the only way to stop them is to stop supporting them. If you don't want to do that I understand, but don't then act like you're so high and mighty and kind when what she did solved absolutely nothing. She's literally in the top 0.1% of supporters seeming she works with them and advertises their game all day. We all know harassment is bad, and if your not naive, you know it happens at all large companies. Some people are bad people though and do it anyway, shocker! She taught me nothing, and changed nothing.
Comments Down votes are just getting abused nowadays, don't even make sense anymore. Shame a mod like xkarma isn't capable to take action,
Will stay clear from this Section from now on, and only post in Forums.
@Aegis24 Because this the age we live in now. Where people like to pretend that talking about something and taking 0 action changes things and that they deserve praise for doing so. Nothing I said is controversial in any way, I'm against what is happening at Blizzard, but I think she's part of the problem whilst trying to act like she's doing good. It's like saying gambling is bad whilst playing and promoting gambling sites, that sounds awfully familiar too...
I think you're looking too far into this.
Both of them kept their responses short.
I said this in another comment, but they're not "virtue signalling". If they wanted attention, they'd get it through doing card reveals.
I agree that there are better ways of trying to make a difference and I wouldn't be surprised if they DO try to do more in the future.
@Weavy Virtue signalling isn't just about the amount attention. It's also about trying to look like a morally superior person for egotistical reasons or to just not "look bad" whilst making no real change. She will also get the attention from this + the reveal video this way. Her actions don't match her words, how can I take what she's saying seriously if she literally the next day releases the card reveal. That doesn't sound like someone who's genuinely upset/angered, but someone trying to save face. I support her message, but I don't need her to tell me harassment is bad, I have my own views and can think for myself, and I definitely don't want to hear it from someone who has a partnership with Blizzard. It's not a big deal you're right, but it's just the fact all "influencers" do this now and it's naive at best and disingenuous at worst. And they only do it when the topic is trending, there's bad things happening around the world all the time and there are many people out there that get no praise that actually try and prevent evil in the world. But these people only talk about trending topics so everyone knows they're nice people and then they carry on about their day. It just feels like they're ticking it off the list.
"Virtue signalling"
Means that you not truly stand behind what you say. Now, tell me that those two ppl don't believe that molesting and systematically harassing females in a work environment is bad. They are spreading awareness about an issue. It is not all of blizzard, but they call out the part of activision-blizzard that is rotting. Plain and simple.
You are reading way to much into their actions. Even 'just' spreading awareness on that matter helps. I don't get why you would vilify this action. Just because in your mind this is not enough?
They should do the most extreme message and completely shoot themselves in the foot, because a part(!) of blizz came out as bad or else their action is void? That is not a healthy stand on any matter, dude.
attention seeking virtue signalling dweebs.
Look at the allegations man.
If they wanted attention, they'd get it by doing the card reveals.
NOBODY. FUCKING NOBODY should be accused of "virtue signalling" for deciding not to associate themselves with a company being accused of harassing someone to suicide.
Well there goes the hype i suppose thanks for nothing blizzard
Why not do the card reveal AND bring attention to this. Seems like a missed opportunity. Doesn't make sense to punish the fans and pass up a chance to get more eyes on the potential issue.
That wouldn't accomplish anything. You'll find out what the cards are eventually.
At this point I'm just enjoying the shitshow
It's actually amazing how many people are baby raging about this. It's just a card reveal, they'll get shown tomorrow. If blizzard actually wanted to punish the streamers/ be an absolute dick, they would just reveal the cards anyways on their website. This is a statement that if nothing is going to be done about it, the community will start to do something.
This is much more important than the reveal of some cards, this kind of activism doesn't mess with anyone not involved with these problematics, it just brings attention to them. A lot of us are checking on these news, which we wouldn't have seen otherwise. I think its a great move, it couldn't have been made in a better moment than during card reveals, in which most players are constantly checking on the news.
As much as i love hearthstone and card reveals, there are more important things happening out there. If you can't relate to these employees, think about a woman in your family getting abused physically or verbally everyday in their workplace.
Well, Fuck that. Holding the card reveals hostage is some uppity bullshit
Yea bro...it's well annoying.
