I think this is Warlock's Imprisoned Gan'arg. I don't think it'll see play this set, but the moment everything rotates, it'll be a staple.
.
Insane power creep. This is Mistress of Mixtures, but fast, only heals you, AND its a spell, which allows for possible synergies.
It is also a 1 mana activator, which warlock lacks in cheap, efficient health gain, for that 4 mana 3/3, destroy a minion if your health changed this turn.
but it's conditional
It's not power creep. Part of the draw of Mistress of Mixtures is that she comes down turn 1, so you can tap on turn 2 and possibly turn 3, trade her off and get your life back.
Oh shit you can use this to pop an egg and get health back at the same time. That's pretty cool.
Pretty immense power creep here, for a class that is not lacking in removals. Not sure I approve.
There are an unbelievable amount of comments saying “this is just okay” or “soul fragments do it better.”
This card is absolutely bananas good. With most things in hearthstone, there is a diminishing return on effects, or “too much of a good thing” if you will. These statements do not apply when it comes to healing in control lock. Especially when that healing is attached to a VERY cheap spell that also acts as removal.
I actually cannot believe how strong this is for control lock. This just adds to the anti aggro kit, which is a big reason they aren’t playable right now.
And bonus points to this for being a shadow spell, making it work with tamsen. Again, amazed at the amount of “ehh” response. This card is ridiculous.
Warlock can also have hand size issues. Where they wanna dump cards out of their hand to cycle more. This is an easy card to drop.
It's also a good hit off of Wandmaker.
Tempo + healing at great value and low cost = good.
Very nice card in general.
And that's exactly the thing I disagree with, as I don't believe that 1 mana spell: "Deal 2 damage to a minion" is even close to being playable in any deck, without being attached to something else. Yes, you can play this card ignoring its bonus effect sometimes, but you would never put it into your deck without this effect in the first place. So ye, that's "unplayable" in my book.
As a whole I love this card! As vanilla "Deal 2 to a minion" for 1 mana it's trash.
You are seriously over thinking this.
2 damage for 1 is playable the same way Sen'jin Shieldmastah is playable. Would you put it in a deck? No. Would you be happy to have a card with 3/5 taunt and a bonus effect of some kind? Yes.
But sometimes, you just want the 1 mana deal 2 to take out a 1 drop or to help get the KO on a minion for whatever reason. You almost always *are* getting the benefit from this card, though.
Every card has some situational use, so in that sense every card is somewhat playable (there's literally no dead cards in Hearthstone). Therefore, my definition of "being playable" boils down to whether or not anyone would want to include it in their deck. If it's not good enough to find place in any constructed deck, then it's unplayable in my book (of course arena is a different story). Simple as that.
I mean, no, not every card is playable. And some cards are so situational they might as well see little play or use.
But like 1 mana, deal 2 is just a decidedly average usable card that deals with 1-3 cost minions. The only reason it never really did was because it has really low card value.
Name a few.
Bestial Wrath is so low impact/situational. Radiance too was only really good if you got it off renew and really needed healing. Icicle was pretty bad (again, just too situational/low impact). Until Totem decks existed properly, Totemic Might.
Deal 2 for 1 is just way more generally useful.
As of right now, I personally believe Soul Fragments already overshadow a lot of cards that heal your hero already [Especially Soul Shear.]
While the card itself is nice, I believe it may only see play when soul fragments rotate out or if self-damage warlock becomes an archetype to the point where you need instant healing.
Boring design.
