Quote from hypoQuestion: What is Three Kingdoms??
Answer: tl;dr its an era of Chinese history that gets often represented in media!! Basically, three kingdoms at odds and the "leader" of each kingdom (plus a love interest) are the characters that we represented for hero skins!!!
The China theme seems a little concerning with recent events and all.
Can we get a male rogue skin for god's sake?
There must be more skins, this only has one of the three kingdoms (Shu) and characters from non-three kingdoms Dynasties. As Dynasty warriors is my favourite game, these are of interest to me!
Guys. I think Blizzard is actually heading in a better monetization with their cards. With the Mini-set they've released a more affordable way to get cards (allow targeted purchase, while making most of the competitive cards f2p - where people only pay if they want to theorycraft), I actually think them relying on cosmetic for monetization is better than relying on cards. So if they can make enough money off this - and then enable better f2p - I think this is the best way forward for the game.
The mini-expansion wasn't "heading in a better monetization" - it was just like Galakrond's Awakening was available with gold - but this miniset didn't come with an adventure. So you got less content and broke Wild.
They're not relying on cosmetics - they're just adding more paid cosmetics to double dip. This will not result in any other changes.
As someone who left hearthstone 3 years ago and came back last year for battleground, Blizzard has been putting out a lot more content and patches now compared to then. There is changes almost every month to all the game modes vs the drought we had previously.
Back in the Naxxaras day I couldn't play ranked until I saved enough gold to buy the entire expansion because of how some common cards were locked later in the adventure. While you can buy the entire set of miniset like most adventures, if you are on a budget you can't just craft the card you need for your deck. This miniset put most of the good card on basic/epic tier, and are obtainable through packs/crafting. Which mean if you are building a 2k dust budget deck with common/rare from this miniset you don't need to spend 25$ or 3000 gold to get cards like haunted creeper and Sludge Belcher.
We had a entire reward system revamp, a pack system that doesn't give duplicate and the miniset. Blizzard has done a good job going f2p because I've obtained 90% of the darkmoon set without paying once just enjoying myself.
They've increased the number of legendaries per expansion, removed adventures, revamped the daily rewards so you get less gold between expansions, and introduced gold sink sets BETWEEN expansions. And they're about to stop giving you dust for Hall of Fame.
As someone who has played since before Naxx, Hearthstone is the least F2P as it has EVER been.
There are truth to what you pointed out: but I think your view is skewed to ignore changes the game has made to become more f2p. Hearthstone had been worse in the past and is always terrible at f2p - they gotten significantly better but people think it is worse because content creators/whales who collect all the cards complains.
Increasing the number of legendaries doesn't make it less f2p though if the number of cards you obtain per expansion increase w/ free legendaries. Dust cost also decreased for top 10 deck in metastat as power-level of basic/rare card increased. Dust cost of Bomb Warrior/ Big Warrior on Metastat vs old Control warrior with 10-15 legendaries is huge. The no duplicate change also removed a lot of basic/rare people had to craft.
There has been some bad decisions and disappointment amongst many of us w/ daily reward revamp. But there is a significant amount of players who earned more gold + cards with this system over the previous one. But I agree with you that the maximum gold earned for players decreased.
I agree with you on Tavern pass model being terrible as a gold sink, I miss being able to get access to all heroes after opening 15 packs. But I don't buy tavern pass for BG anymore since I don't really find a reason to climb anymore, the gamemode is funner at lower rating anyway.
Also Blizzard never said they are going to stop giving dust for hall of fame cards. They just said they are not doing hall of fame anymore for cards - which I understood as classic set revamp.
The reward system was definitely an upgrade, unless you used to farm the 100 daily gold for wins with aggro decks. Mini expansion is not "gold sink", it's called "refreshing the meta" and they even let you buy it with gold (less gold than an adventure) or craft the cards without buying anything which is a great deal for f2p. Most players don't care about adventures, it was just a waste of time and energy especially in old adventures where games weren't easy wins. And for hall of fame they may bring a rotating set and give everyone the cards for free which, again, it's really good for f2p. Yeah it affects f2p economy but it may turn into something better and there is no reason to complain until we see what they are up to.
As someone who has played since before Naxx, you seem to have no idea how f2p friendly the game has become.
The problem is, blizzard will just focus on the cosmetics instead of making improvements to the game. If people keep spending money on this then it shows that you are fine with what blizzard is doing while the game is a mess.
there are 2 diferent appartments, one thing doens't change or block the other
If you keep feeding blizzard money for a shit product, it will continue to be shit.
yeah, you didn't read what i said before at all, if the skin is terrible, people wont buy it, same for expansions.
If an apartment does a bad job and the other a pretty remarkable one, as far as blizzard doens't attach both into the same bundle (which i would bypass it and critizice the move) ill be happy to buy the good stuff and let alone the bad stuff,
Idiots will continue to spend a fortune on skins that add nothing to the game.
Blizzard will rake in the cash while the game will stay stale.
if the cosmetic is good enough i don't see a problem with its existance, mostly because people asked for it, and as far as i remember, bad skins were bypassed by most of the comunity, and critiziced for its poor quality. So, if you don't like them ,don0t buy them, but i calling others idiots for spending their money in whatever they want with no harm is questionable
I wonder how much will cost the bundle with all of them. Must be at least $30
prefer a new mode to new skins
Because absolutely nobody have ever stated that new skins have resulted in new game modes being delayed? Could it be that the 100 devs aren't all drawing hero portraits together, but maybe simultaneously work on different aspects of the game like in any other work place?
They are btw working on two new game modes, in case you got tired of the one they released two months ago...
Sorry, bad count, it's all FOUR.
That's pretty pedantic. Heroes, skins, it's all the same thing really - a different portrait for the same class. They used to be rare and now they are not.
