Hearthstone Dev Iksar Seeks Ideas For An Upcoming Expansion Theme
Hearthstone developer Iksar announced on his Twitter that he seeks ideas for an upcoming expansion theme, also confirms that the Thursday stream will feature an upcoming expansion announcement.
Happy to see the teaser for the next expansion out! We're going to start brainstorming another future expansion in the next couple weeks. If you could choose any Warcraft setting or expansion theme you wanted, what would you pick?

pandaria expansion featuring monks
Ulduar confirmed - not 2021, but later.
For me It's something similar to Ungoro (the best expansion ever for me) + an underwater expansion with Neptulon, something like Atlantida, Nagas, etc.
like vash'jir?
When Boomsday released I had wished for an real Outland expansion featuring Kael'thas. It did happen, so happy about it
Darkmoon Faire
I got good news for you mate lol
I want a pirate themed expansion. Originally Darkmoon Faire was my dream expansion but now that it’s been realized my new one is a big pirate adventure in the South Seas. Everyone gets pirates just like Outlands gave everyone demons, as well as new weapons for everyone. Pirates as well will get a rework to be less aggro, with a new tribe specific keyword: Board. Like with the theme of pirates, boarding is your pirate Minion will go onto your opponent’s board for a turn with zero attack while they’re over there. At the start of your next turn they will return to your side of the board (or instantly die if it’s full.)
Now you might be wondering why on earth you would want minions that swap over to your opponents board. Simple: Sabotage. Boarded minions usually have an effect that sabotage your opponent or an ability that activates when it gets back. For example, a 4 mana 2/2 pirate with a bomb strapped to itself that boards, but has the Deathrattle “Deal 4 damage to all friendly minions.” So while it’s boarded you’ll want to kill it to set off the deathrattle on your opponents side. Or a pirate that boards and when it gets back to your side of the field net you a coin, draw a card, or during the turn it boarded it decreases the attack of enemy minions. Or go crazy and have a pirate that boards and autoattacks enemy minions next to it, as a semiway to evade taunt to kill key minions
For the Solo Adventure its all about treasure hunting. You’re adrift at sea after a battle with a sea monster and rescued by Cap’n Kreag and his merry band of pirates, and embark on a quest across the South Seas looking for treasure, fighting monsters and rival pirates (like the return of Patches) with the goal of finding the treasure. The adventure will be like dungeon runs however you choose where you go across the map, exploring locations looking for clues to the treasure. The adventure is randomized fully, so each run is unique
this
How about a Expansion themed around the Warcraft (pre wow) era? Bronze Dragonflight and their time-travel could allow for some fun stuff. Alternatively a expansion where the factions and their leaders have been twisted by some dark mysterious power. Dark hero cards of the faction leaders sound fun.
I'd really like an expansion that utilizes WoWs profession, basically having each class go with a profession (Enchanting - Mages, Leatherworking - Hunters, etc.) as one of the major themes. They can wrap it into another overall idea since professions alone could be a bit dull but it could add some cool ideas.
As always. Ulduar!!
How about Shadowlands?
An appropriately timed tie-in with the current state of WoW seems reasonable. And I'm sure there is plenty of content to make use of.
We can get a new neutral legendary Sylvanas Windrunner!
Elemental Planes!!
Rebirth of Nature's Grandeur. With only RNG cards.
My bad, already released.
Starcraft expansion. This game has gone so far off the rails already, why not have a Raynor warrior, taisigur shaman and queen of blades warlock? The game is Warcraft in Space, let’s do hearthstone in space.
I'd fucking love if they did AT LEAST a one month special event with cards from Starcraft. Banelings would do damage to all the board. Ultralisks'd do cleave, Mutalisks will have bounce effect. Lurkers could attack while being "dormant".
Dear god DO IT.
I would have to say The Sunwell/Magister's Terrance, for me personally in my opinion that was when WoW was at it's height in power and fun. So many good memories during that time when it had that perfect balance before the game got ruined with to many casual implements. Would be great to have that scenery back and with cards like Undead Kael'thas. DYING WAS MERELY A SETBACK!
Could be made a bit broader being the whole ''Isle of Quel'Danas''.
Pandaria seems a very obvious area of the game that has not been touched upon, but I'm going to assume they want to keep that until they can introduce the Monk class.
Other than that I would love a return of the Scourge and the Undead. Maybe do Duskwood?
Another area that's not been done, but IS a game board is Stranglethorn Vale, with it's Pirate city of Booty Bay. I recently played through those zones again and it was great fun. LOADS of memorable characters and diversity. Hemet Nesingwary has ties to the zone, there's a troll city and I mentioned Pirates already. I think you could definitely do something with it. Even just doing a Pirate expansion might be great fun, with Booty Bay and the feud between the Bloodsail Buccaneers and the Blackwater Raiders as a central theme could be great.
Related to that, you could also do a expansion based on the Goblins, and their trade cartels (instead of concentrating on their proclivity to make things go BOOM!). That's not a topic that's seen all that much coverage in WoW either, so it would be something where the Hearthstone team could stretch it;s creative muscles. :D
I would love to see something themed around the different Holiday events, with the idea of an all out brawl between the Holidays to see which one reins supreme.
Midsummer Fire Fest, Hallows End, Brew Fest, the Christmas event, Pirates Day, Noble garden, Lunar Fest, Valentine Day, Day of the Dead, and Pilgrims Bounty is most I believe, and the variety of cards you could get are immense. Beasts, Pirates, Elementals, always do with a murloc , etc. Might even have enough holidays so that each class could be a champion... Rouge and Pirates Day, Hunters w/ noblegarden, Druids getting Lunar Fest, and of course the Demon Hunters getting Valentines.
