because a beatdown deck wants cycle on a body not just cycle
Not actually that strong. Running a vanilla 2/1 isn't worth the highroll potential of topdecking it and getting to draw a card or having to wait until it's on the far side of your hand to play it. Demon hunter has better 1 drops and better ways to draw cards, so there's no real reason to run this unless it's in some drooler zoo deck that'd be worse than normal aggro anyway.
Crimson Sigil Runner > Kobold Librarian
So DH gets a Kobold Librarian without a drawback, and has already a Flame Imp without drawback: Battlefiend.
Yes, looks very balanced to me.
Battlefiend is actually 2 mana if you take it as a 3/2, so, that's balanced :)
And as it was previously said, having to get this in the right order, or just top deck it is a MUCH bigger drawback than just 2 health. Also, warlock actually benefited with that 2 damage with MANY potential combos, so, that wasn't a drawback at all for the class.
75% chance this doesn't draw you a card as a 1-drop... No drawback??
It has a serious drawback of being useless for some turns. Librarian does not.
This card seems stronger than it actually is, if it's in your opening hand theres a 1 in 3 chance its on the left, if it's not you toss it back, I'd imagine this is the case in most senarios. It is weaker than Kobold Librarian because it is not as consistent, In card game consistency is everything
Maybe. Whenever you draw him he's cycle. If he's in your opening hand it usually won't take long to get him to the left.
Agreed. Being forced to play your cards in a certain order to play out Crimson Sigil Runner is a far greater drawback than taking just 2 dmg - especially when you consider that warlock actually sometimes benefitted from taking damage in the case of cards like Amethyst Spellstone and Hooked Reaver.
you have no idea how fast he really is
Not OP card but still good. I wonder how many bad cards did they give to DH. Any at all?
DH basic set has to have relatively high card quality compared to every other basic and classic set collection because DH enters the game with a far lower cardpool then every other class in the game, certainly much less for wild and even in Standard they are lacking cards from 3 whole expansions. If Blizzard didn't do any of this then DH would probably be playing mostly neutral cards which would be a pretty poor statement considering they are the newest addition to the class roster.
This is an expansion card.
Is that relevant though if the question was whether DH had received any bad cards at all? That's a question that encompasses all that were revealed for DH this spoiler season regardless of base set or expansion set.
Art and effect would fit rogue tbh. DH seems really like Rogue + Hunter + Warlock. Demons, cheap spells and cycle, and aggressive face attacks.
1 mana draw a card with 2/1 body for a class that will have good aggro already? at this point the problem will be which op 1 drops to choose when building DH lists.
Many of his cards will be nerfed. They surely have plans to nerf some in the first 2-3 weeks. Don't worry ppl.
BTW Paladin and Warrior will compete with aggro DH.
Handlock with 2×sacrificial pacts will also compete

Kobold Librarian was good, but not OP.
