Tombs of Terror September 17th Launch Details
Today Blizzard announced the details of the Tombs of Terror Adventure in a video, as well as announced the Deluxe Adventure Bundle on the Store.
Summary of the announcement video:
- Launches September 17th.
- 4 Chapters and a Finale, which will remain a "delightful mystery".
- Chapters 1 and 2 unlock on launch, September 17th, chapter 3 unlocks September 24th and chapter 4 & Finale unlock on Oct 1st
- 4 Heroes to play with, all dual class: Reno, Mage/Rogue. Elise, Druid/Priest. Brann, Hunter/Warrior and Sir Finley, Paladin/Shaman.
- You will be able to build your deck using BOTH classes.

- Each Plague Lord has a huge health pool (as much as 300 health in the video) and they switch phases and hero powers to become even more deadly as you bring their health down.

- 24 new Signature Treasures, 6 per Hero, that you unlock as you play, with powerful deck defining abilities.

2100 gold - 21 packs and a great smile
2100 gold - kid's adventure, boring plays, stupid rng, 12 packs.
Okay.
should be free.
Any of the 5 Dungeon Run adventures have the same issue: they are extremely inconsistent. Now this may seem stupid to you, but please just hear me out.
These adventures are really fun when you get to draft that perfect deck with the best passive treasures. I remember how I was able to get a deck full of 0 mana Witchy Lackeys and I drew 3 cards a turn because I got some really good treasures. However, you only get one of these really fun runs once every several attempts. For every time you get to draft a full on C'Thun deck with double battlecries and 3 C'Thuns, there's six other attempts where you're offered crappy treasures and good cards or great treasures and crappy cards.
Another issue is the fact that they didn't really change the formula that much with the new solo adventure. What's new? Well, now you have to play the solo adventures multiple times just to kill the last boss. If the boss doesn't kill you, fatigue sure will. The large healthpool doesn't add anything to gameplay, it only makes it so that you have to replay the adventure to progress to the next chapter. You don't get to choose to replay it because it's fun, you have to replay it because it blocks your progress otherwise.
This is only the first change they made. Dual classes is a good idea, and I think everyone likes this idea except for Gul'Dan. However, I don't think dual classes will be good in a Dungeon Run format. This is because it makes the pools of cards you can choose from even more inconsistent and even harder to get a good and reliable deck. Think about Elise. With her, you'll get offered Deathrattle Synergies, Zoo, Ramp, Heal, Hand Size, Treants, Ressurection, etc. That's a lot of different options now.
Quite honestly, I think that such inconsistency is discouraging. Like, I don't want to replay Rise of Shadows because I know that I won't be able to replicate the same crazy combos I got before without a LOT of grinding.
That's why I think that the hero treasures are a step in the right direction, but having to grind for them sucks. I would love if they just let you make a 10 card deck. It would at least help you set up a strategy that you wanted to go with, but that's just what I think. If you like these adventures, that's perfectly fine, but I think we all can agree that after 4 other incarnations of the same thing, they haven't really changed much and there are still the same underlying issues with the format.
I get how the idea of Dungeon Runs is that you have to play with random cards, but I think that at some point, the RNG crosses the line from fun to frustrating. I would love if Blizzard would release an original solo adventure in the next expansion, or at least a massively altered version of Dungeon Run that addresses a few of the underlying issues.
to response to this, Blizzard don't give a luck about it, Blizzard h.s encourage rng and gambling after all. They don't care about consistenty because thats more work for the same money:)
Blizzard wants to less work and earn more money.
What kind of company is it, most everyone here denies it, but the truth be told pretty crappy right
Not only is there a duck ton of RNG, the so called solo play is even more full of them.
The story is also very un-consistent and random as hell.
Think about it, out of no where reno and these come back, wtf?
That's why Blizzard is a joke. That's also why Shadow verse became the most popular digi-card game in japan, and H.S fail and will never climb back up. Also all cards players who are interested in Jpop stuff will never come back.
Why am i here talking trash about a trashy crappy company?
Maybe deep deep down , a little part of me(naive as it is) is hoping for them to change.
15 card packs, for 2800 gold? Looks like I'll never play this adventure either.
edit: Oh, 12 packs for 2100 gold I mean. Anyway, same ratio, same overprice.
The first chapter is free, right ?
And each completed chapter gives you 3 packs, don't they ?
So if I understand it right, 3 packs are free and the 20 bucks are for the 12+1 golden packs, not the 15+1 as mentionned.
shame i bought,explorers bundle,this is better deal :P
I had hope that Dalaran would be one time shot with paid adventures being with expac. I guess they just left their promise of free adventure with expac since KotFT in the dust.
Eh? They've been pretty upfront about this since before Dalaran. They said this year all three expansions will have separate single-player content.
God damn HS is becoming expensive.
How? The adventure is cheaper than before.
Cheaper? You just forgot that you no longer get new cards...?
U can just buy packs...or play arena, coliseum, whatever...it's a way big deal than this adventure.
Considering how much value I got out of Rise of Shadow's content (I finally beat the last heroic just this past week), I'm very excited for this. The formula works for me!
Looks like we have a different background in Tombs of Terror
Will there be a giveaway?
My problem with this kind of paid content, released this way is that I don't need the packs now any more! At this point i have all commons and rares, all the meta playable epics and legends. I don't want 15 packs of dust! If i could get this deal at the start of the expansion i would be happy to pay the 20 euro. Let us open the packs on release and unlock the adventure 2 moths later or better just make 3 pre orders:
50 pack standard new ex-pac goodie bundle
15 pack adventure bundle where you get the card packs on release and unlock adventure when it's out
65 combo pack with all the stuff from both
You're paying for the content not the packs. The packs are just a bonus so that you buy the content.
The problem is that if we're looking only at content, $20 can get you a full game like slay the spire, owlboy or undertale. Sure the hearthstone bosses can be an interesting diversion, but a lot of them are kind of gimmicky and usually the adventure doesn't take more than maybe 2-3 hours to beat.
