Dean Ayala Asks: What Would Get You Back Into Hearthstone?
Hearthstone's Dean "Iksar" Ayala had a question for those that used to main Hearthstone as a game but no longer do.
What do they need to do to get you back?
We're actually quite interested in knowing too. With many old Hearthstone players still frequenting our site to see what the game is up to or to chat with old friends, there has to be something the Hearthstone team could do to reel you back in?
Quote from Dean AyalaIf Hearthstone used to be your main game but isn't anymore, what would get you back?
Less deathrattle cards, nerf warlock
-Replays
-WAY more achievements and ways to showcase my dedication to HS to other players. Golden hero, platinum hero, diamond hero. Avatars/emotes/entrance animations (such as particles)/voicelines as an achievement or even premium payable option. So easy to implement, and I think people would love an additional goal.
-spectating arena draft
-stop pushing epics as core cards that much
-stop killing classic set
-let me choose a board like I choose a card back
-don't ditch keywords after one expansion. Why can't like 5-10 cards in every expansion have previous keywords? Oh no, that would make Wild more fun.
-no epic duplicates
-WAY more customization
-I hate the board shake at the end of a match.
-ability to listen to the card sounds from my collection
-arcade mode like in overwatch so you can choose from a few brawls each week (I don't care about waiting time, it would just jump from ~30s to a minute or two in these modes, so what)
-stop taking the tavern brawl from us (it's the most stupid thing in the world, which makes sense for you because you want us to play other modes, but in players' eyes it's like "hey you are NOT going to have fun for half of a week! I'm a consumer. This is stupid and sadistic.)
-ability to give your opponent 1~5g for a GG
-two types of arena: wild and standard
-rotating format including some sets from the past
-cheaper wild packs
-stop creating archetypes and let the players do the job
You know what you should do. You have all the stats. You just either can't or don't want to.
I could use my shudderwock dust, by the way. Oh, and the game is still freezing when a match is found after all these years.
More cards ,more interesting cards , more archetypes,mmmoooooaaarrrr......
I played hearthstone heavily during naxx and GvG and imo undo every nerf since beta. The game would be nutty/fun. In one of the tavern brawls where you got to play with world championship decks, some of the older cards that have been nerfed into Oblivion felt less powerful compared to the newer cards that have been power crept. I clearly know this isn't the answer but imagine the fun omg lol.
On a serious note when the game felt more like the wow TCG it was more fun. Now it feels like it's own game which is good, but power creep is insane. Oil rogue was great, force roar was fun, things like this have vanished. And compared to something like spreading plague or UI or Kingsbane rogue pre nerf, are those combos and cards, like ancient of lore, really that powerful compared to things today.
Fire team 5 and hire a new team that designs real interactive decks.
Give their job back to those 800 former employees, and stop being freaking greedy
I want the adventures back. The true adventures, not the pathetic dungeon runs. I want two expansions and one adventure per year. I loved to fight to get the heroic back, I loved to look for the best card combination in each combat, I loved to be able to actually get all the cards I like (the expansions are too high cost)...
Just bring back the adventures.
2v2 mode
I can just imagine how someone could troll their teammate with Equality Pyromancer.
People have been asking for 2v2 for a long long time.
It would help bring people back, develop friendships, and open up another new tournament format which would be far more exciting to mic up the players and hear their strats.
WotC cancelling MTG Arena. Other than that, good luck Blizzard.
Pity Timer for Legendary to 20. Epic to 5.
This way it's possible to have more competitive decks without spend an ocean of cash.
But of course this will never happen.
What about to temporary buff at another time unplayed classic cards ? Like on a week basis ?
1. At lower ranks it would bring more fun and creativity.
2. At higher ranks it would prove the real player’ skill, cause the drill of playing against copy-pasted tier 1 decks makes the legend climbing incredibly boring. One week would be too short for any ‘cancer’ called deck to spread.
3. Once opened via packs, more than a half of the classic set cards wouldn’t be considered the free dust.
This is the week of the Bronze Dragonflight ! I’m sure Nozdormu is waiting for that.
Just leave hs alone, you, whalen, kosak... it's painful to watch as you fail all the time. Give the game some fresh ideas and a new hope
Look at Gwent, and take notes. CD Projekt Red is probably a lot smaller than Blizzard yet Gwent put way more content in their game of half a year than Blizzard did in 4 years, they released a FULL GAME adventure for the card game at the same price of the likes of Karazhan, it's not 6 hours and done it's a FULL game(around 40 hours of gameplay) in the same price of any adventure, so far I have seen weekly event (there is currently a nemesis draft in arena for example)
They introduced some progression in the game, a way to main classes if you want, a choice in packs, achievements., they took notes of what the fans were asking for a WHILE and delivered it really well.
he game needs to be more flexible with it's content if the game is cheaper balance changes aren't such a big deal you need to refund the cards you changed.. The biggest flaw of HS is that cause the game is so expensive it's very hard to balance.. what made it worse is that NO DECK CURRENTLY doesn't contain any legendary, which would be fine if they weren't so hard to get.
HS is starting to lose many people who played HS for a years! Kibler,Trump,Amaz they are all leaving.
''Look at Gwent and take notes!'' yep, take notes from the ''HS killer'' that didn't even survive until its launch day
When i spend my money, i want it to go WAY FARTHER. HistoricalIy I have spent about $250 a year on this game (pre-order + promotions in Canadian Dollars) which is way more than i've ever spent on any game before. I really don't feel like I should have to may more than this to get access to the grand majority of the content.
Last expansion I opened 115 packs and opened only FOUR legendaries. I was so disheartened (very feels bad) that I've played maybe 25 games this whole expansion. I'm honestly not sure if i'm going to continue at the rotation.
Specifically, all or some combination of the following would keep me in the game:
1. DOUBLE the number of packs i get when I BUY packs
2. Reduce the average legendary drop to 10 packs, and the pity timer to 20 packs
3. Don't give duplicate Epic cards.
There is a 0% chance that they will ever make cards/ expansions cheaper. They want to make MORE MONEY. That is priority #1.
Well, that's how they would get more money from me, by making my money go farther.
Get back to what HS was at the beginning. It was a simple but fun strategy game, where every decision counted. Now it has devolved to stalling tactics to draw a win condition. All strategy is gone, games are predictable and non-interactive.
Also, make Arena, the one mode that still requires some strategy, free to play. Stop being so damn greedy.
Stop printing broken, OP, cards each expansion. Go back to basics.
