Hearthstone Live Q&A Recap - Nine New Arena Cards, Player Stats, Random Card Backs, Dungeon Runs
The BlizzCon 2017 Live Q&A has now concluded. Below you will find our recap which includes summarized answers from the Q&A portion of the panel and the nine new cards being added to the arena for a limited time. Present during this panel were Hearthstone's Ben Brode, Mike Donais, Peter Whalen ,and Yong Woo.

- The Dev Team has 27 cards for us to look at and vote on for inclusion in the arena.
- There are 3 cards per class with 1 card per class being added to the arena.
- The arena event will be a temporary thing, not permanent.
- The cards are not collectible.
Player Stats
- Doing player stats is something they want to do and recently they've been building infrastructure for it.
Druids
- They definitely want to add another Druid hero to the game.
- Finding the right hero to contrast with Malfurion is important. They liked how Nemsy was very different than Gul'dan.
- Druid and Ultimate Infestation are being watched. Statistically speaking though it's not a huge swing card, it just feels that way emotionally.
Random Card Backs
- They've been talking about card back randomization.
- The card back has been painted for the option, they just need to write the code.
Dungeon Runs
- Dungeon Runs should be fun for a long time due to all the different permutations available.
- They should learn a lot from Dungeon runs in how players consume that type of content.
- They've considered releasing more bosses to runs mid-expansion, but nothing concrete yet.
- They don't want to force people to play Dungeon Runs so there aren't any rewards.
- The only reward for Dungeon Runs is the card back for defeating the run with all 9 classes.
Fireside Gatherings
- Fireside Gatherings could be used to build a different type of drafting for arena.
- The Lich King event at Gamescom and Fireside Gatherings was really popular. They will definitely do similar stuff in the future.
Misc
- Morgl may be 10001 years old.
- They may rotate more cards to the Hall of Fame during the next Standard year. No announcements yet.
- Titan's Grip is Mike's favourite card that wasn't added to the game. He won't tell us what it does.
- In World of Warcraft, Titan's Grip allows a Warrior to dual-wield weapons.
- Peter keeps successfully denying the card in each set.
- Destroy a 4 attack minion is Ben's favourite Priest fantasy.
- They would like to add a replay feature at some point.
Winning Arena Cards

We're not asking for loot, we're asking for incentives; just allowing us to do daily quests in a dungeon run would be perfect.
well, just like in practice mode, you will be able to do 100 gold quest
We're not asking for free stuff. People earn gold, packs, and dust in Hearthstone through Arenas, Ranked, Casual, and Brawls... We are just asking for the same time invested in Dungeons to EARN us gold/dust to make it worthwhile. Not free, earned.
I would be more inclined to play the Dungeon mode if they just simply reward you with one pack a week for completing it or a select number of completed dungeon wins. Once people get the card back, less people would spend time playing it.
There no answer about. Why you start doing Gnomeferatu, Dirty Rat and other cards like this.
Answer was - because we want change our ideal and want something new doing more and more cards like that and now you can destroy all enemiy's deck.
I think, that's mean one day OTK again will be ok strategy if they changed their decision about interruptin enemy turn..
Oh, yes, and about replay, not exactly what they answered. They said: someday it ll, but not soon, it's not a priority.
Why so negative? Anyhow. I love all the new ideas. About the Dungeon Run: Maybe give a weekly reward for finishing it with one class? Like raid lockout? 100 dust and 100 gold would be nice. And new players will have an equal chance in this mode as older players (Except for experience ofcourse).
After frozen throne i thought we were done with this card back reward BS.
I don't know what you are talking about , card back has been a thing in adventures since naxx was released and back then it was "defeat every boss on heroic" tho you cant forget you had WAY LESS cards back then so there weren't as many possible decks that you could make as of today. If you dislike the grind for the card back just dont do it, i personaly like the challenge to get it.

I really disagree with this, they can easily reward plays with arcane dust/gold as a small incentive to play. Even a card pack for playing would be slight incentive to go and try this mode, while not ‘forcing’ players to play by having cards exclusively available to this method of gameplay.
Problems usually start when they "think" what we want. Then 2 years later when the shitstorm is about to hit everything they do what they should have done to begin with and we should be gracefull for it.
Game is out for 4 rs now, it's about time they do things the right way from the get go.
Yup, that's huge mistake for a mode that is supposed to have replay value. We don't need any extra reward, but we could just get gold, like in regular duels - all 8 bosses killed? Grab those 30g. The limitation to 100g per day would still be in place, so it would only make the gold cap more easy to acquire.
I didn't get the random cardback thing?
Anyway, that Crackling Doom of Shaman feels absolutely EPIC. Deathwing being overvalued by Thrall.
And Smoke Bomb is incredibly cool, totally in a Rogue style of doing more things at once.
I wish those cards could be adapted for permanent inclusion in the game.
Initially Blizz wanted a pack for a brawl as a temporary reward and we see how it ended ;) So we could have both free modes that give us nothing.
