Your Questions for Hearthstone Game Designer Dean Ayala!
Blizzard has generously invited Hearthpwn to fly to the Bahamas this weekend for the upcoming Hearthstone Winter Championship! While at the event, we'll have a chance to sit down with Hearthstone Game Designer Dean "Iksar" Ayala to ask him some questions about Hearthstone's upcoming expansion, Journey to Un'Goro!
Do you have a great question on your mind? Write it down in the comments below and we might include it when we compile the best ones later this week!
Dean is a Game Designer on the final design team, focusing on testing and balancing new cards, making sure they're fun, trying to predict what decks they will go in and what the meta will look like. He also plays a lot of Arena! He's also very active on Twitter and Reddit, often responding to questions from the community.
How do you feel about an un-interactive deck such a pirate warrior be too overpowered? Hearthstone is suppose to be an interactive game from both sides...
With sets being designed months in advanced, how do you go about designing, balancing and releasing hard counter tech cards (such as Eater of Secrets, Golakka Crawler, etc.) Is an anti-elemental card already in the works?
Is counter ever going to be used again?
What is your main focus on this expansion besides obviously adding new cards? Is it to have more fun playing hearthstone with more entertaining cards, or to integrate archetypes to certain classes where the class only has one strong deck or the class is overall underpowered compared to the others?
Would we see more tribes in the future of hearthstone? Will we see more tribes in the next two expansions?
why isn't am'gam rager an elemental?
why isn't djinne of zephyrs an elemental?
why isn't mana geode an elemental? and so many others
your question can be answered in a 30 second google search...
ow that site says something diferent http://wow.gamepedia.com/Elemental
So why are Magma Rager and Ice Rager being given Elemental tribe then?
Because fire and water are elements. shades, genies and mana are not.
in a google search http://wow.gamepedia.com/Elemental
You're right, blizzard forgot to google search.
"in a google search" doesn't sound like a question to me. Would you care to explain when sarcasm became toxic?
You do understand that anyone can be sarcastic whenever they feel like. He's a moderator. He used sarcasm once. Stop making it a big deal. And frankly, no one cares that he's "toxic" besides you.
That's pretty subjective. There are not global rules by which moderators must abide; not sure what you are thinking of. There's nothing wrong with sarcasm, and i am not prohibited from being sarcastic or being otherwise engaged just because i am a mod. Quite humorous for you to suggest that. I would love to read more about this "job description" you are referencing.
I'm also wondering why Hallazeal won't get the elemental tag. On the wow wiki, it says that Hallazeal is an "ascended elemental". Or am I missing something?
Elementals seems like an interesting choice for a new tribe, given that there's already potential tribes out there to be made, like the Undead for a lot of Classic and Naxxramas. Why did you choose Elementals over the other potential new tribals, and what other tribals were you considering?
What are future plans to deal with Jade if it proves to be oppressive to the meta after Un'Goro is released?
Have you thought about other formats to bring to HS? Also what are your thoughts on a potential "ban a card/ban a class" system? Good idea, bad idea?
