Threads is really cool, it's basically a stronger version of Defile since it works with two minions at the same health, but with the downside that it has to be activated and is slightly worse at killing deathrattles.
The reborn stuffy will be a new version which not only has rush but can get reborn again if you cast another frost spell.
With a handful of frost spells this can board clear and let you send your frost damage to face.
Ghoul + Threads for a quick board clear, but at that point, you'll have much better Blood stuff, so kinda pointless.
So we have three card reveals left for DK to make frost DK do anything with stuffy. Every expansion the rune system just becomes more and more of a meme. If they really want to make the rune system less horribly constricting on expansion releases, they should just dedicate entire expansions to one rune and actually print some double/triple rune cards, which also creates its own set of variety issues.
Threads are similar to Defile, except you need another card to trigger and in return you do more damage with multiple minions killed per wave.
Stuffy seems like a decent card stat wise, as long as you have a frost spell. Feels kinda weird in rainbow deck tho.
It's not for a Rainbow deck tho. Like having 1-Rune dosn't mean that goes automatically in a Rainbow Deck.
In a Frost deck is pretty strong, each of your spells deal 4 damage to a minion and give you a Corpse on top of their other effects. Which also means that you can use your Burst damage as removal.
Deathknight's Hero Power will mean you always have a way to trigger Threads of Despair.
Just mentioning it feels weird if used in rainbow. It will most likely stay exclusively played in frost, cause it needs consistent spells.
Okay, I think it's way past time for blizz to acknowledge that the rune system was a bad idea (at least for blizz's design and release philosophy). They're just making everything rainbow now, and the triple runes didn't get new win conditions.
If they want to keep the shitty rune requirement i kinda wish they would then print a legendary that has a strong effect and can just change runes ; well in a different flavor of a said effect.
If they want to keep the shitty rune requirement, they need to print a bunch of rune specific cards at rotation and increase the amount of cards DK gets in each expansion and sprinkle a few more with the each release. But they reached the point that everyone knew they were gonna reach of "We don't feel like balancing dozens of different archetypes, so just make it rainbow."
Anything they're sticking 2 of the same runes on anymore is just discover fodder.
I think is a pretty neat idea. But they handle it pretty poorly. (Which is kinda the usual modus operandi of Blizzard to be fair)
But it kinda feels that they are giving the class a limitation without an actual payoff, for most of the cards. And some of the designs are pretty lame. Like Lady Deathwhisper is a F/F/F card, and well, yeah. Where else i'm going to play the card if works with specifically Frost spells and all Frost spells are Frost Rune cards?
They should push the 2-Rune cards more, and give you actual reasons to convine Runes. I think that remove the Runes to buff some cards was a mistake. They should buff the effects to make you want to play that Rune Combo,
Need more full commitment cards that are really powerful and fun.
I think, ideally, death knight archetypes should be two runes and triple rune payoffs should be rare and perhaps kind of gimmicky. The decks should get to choose their third rune, basically, and blizz could design cards that deliberately have interplay with the different things they could grab with the final slot, of which there'd be a couple options. I think this could be done pretty elegantly by just stacking the coreset with powerful double rune cards that could "decide the third rune" for whatever archetypes they intend to push over the next year. And that wouldn't increase the number of cards they have to print.
To their credit, Soulstealer being made double blood in the upcoming coreset is a good example of this. You could legitimately ask yourself whether you want this + Corpse Explosion in your headless horseman deck vs CNE/Vreska.
I don't think they need to write a public apology or anything. The runes don't actively make the game worse. DK's just in the same spot as other classes, where we know what each archetype is roughly supposed to look like before it releases. I'd like them to keep trying.
