IDK, it could work.
Azerite Giant are the main driving force of the deck probably.
Well theorycrafted a bit for this guy... maybe this works
yayyy....elemental shaman for the 219th time again, lets goooooo...
For sure extremely powerful if you can make it work. Reminds me a lot of Mordresh, weaker but still a solid finisher.
It's weird that Azerite Giant has the same condition to mind as Skarr. Unless Mage gets a similar card as well (possible though), they might as well have made it another Shaman card. It all depends on how good Elemental battlecries and effects are in the end, and if you can get away with playing very few spells and tech cards. I am currently not too optimistic.
You want to talk about boring?!!
I am SICK of people who build their deck by typing "Renethal", "Astalor" and "discover", and maybe "random", into the search bar, then force three obscure tech cards into the ETC band, and call it a day, regardless of class.
You might not see them all that often when you are in that chronically depressed D5-Legend demographic, but believe me, a massive part of the lower MMR playerbase plays nothing but that. "boring" is really a matter of perspective, and I certainly am more bored of seeing the same bunch of neutral cards in every single class, and every other opponent making discoverino-saves-my-ass a core part of their strategy.
At this point, I am grateful for cards that force your deck to commit to some actual plan, even more when that plan involves actual minions, and preferably minions that are not called Asstalor.
But who am I kidding, Elemental Shaman will also feature fricking Assstalor.
Dude, I'm main shaman and love elemental, but I have afraid that elemental deck will be so linear, like 90% of the totens and murlocs decks. We already a totem shaman with good WR, I hope more than elementals, Magatha and bloodlust like alternative.
I get your point. Though elementals with their mechanic of requiring an elemental played on the previous turn were more or less doomed from the start to end in that spot that you needed to play them as a tempo-driven midrange deck - keep playing more elementals to keep their effects active. So, that "linearity" is kind of baked into the mechanic.
It's not like murlocs and totems though, which require a wide board and a buff for a finishing move, since murlocs and totems tend to be fragile. Magatha or Bloodlust are no elemental cards.
Since Un'goro, elementals were designed as a tribe that can go the distance with a higher curve and more heavy hitters, and that's kind of what you got throughout Year of the Gryphon, just missing a proper power spike, which Skarr at least provides.
If that's also not to your liking... I mean, never say never, but it doesn't look like Badlands will completely redefine elementals for you. They are not dragons.
I agree about the distance with murlocs and totens and how elementals are more heavy. I agree too they have more potential to diferent effects like discover a elemental from the past, but I'm still worried with some deck with 80% or more with just minions and without space to some cool spell, weapon or location.
Finally, I don't know, but cards like Frostfin Chomper maybe make viable a more agressive elemental deck with Bloodlust....
If I play an elemental and it gets blocked by Objection!, does it count as playing an elemental in a row?
I don't believe so, no, as the Counter prevents the card from being recognized as having been played (no Battlecry, etc.). If Objection! was "After your opponent..." instead of "When", then I think it'd function the way you are expecting.
I don't like this whole "in a row" thing. It makes non-elemental cards unplayable unless they're very cheap, and I think the deck that results from that will be very boring. You're just going to type "elemental" into the search bar and click on every card. You're not going to have much versatility, you're just going to play elementals on curve.
I hope we get cards that generate 0 mana 1/1 eles in hand to ease the restriction a bit. If we get many of those or something equivalent, we'd be fine. If the deck can get a 7 or 8 damage skarr while running and playing several non-elemental cards, there's room for interesting.
Think there have been significant buffs to eles that will make the archetype viable finally.
The 4/5 rush is great.
The 5 drop that summons the two 3/3 rushers is insanely good.
The 3 drop that discovers from the past is good.
The legendary is wildly good as long as you adhere to curve (I assume best lists will be 22-24+ ele's, so shouldn't be hard).
The Legendary is basically the old mage legendary that you needed to deal 10 damage with your hero power or whatever to pyroblast all enemies, which was INSANE when it went off.
All in all, it looks strong.
This is giving me Ungoro elemental Shaman vibes, an old favourite of mine. I actually don't care if it's good or not, the nostalgia vibes has made this a most anticipated card for me. And I mean, if you play it on curve with an unbroken chain of elementals, it's basically a board clear that also goes face, seems pretty good to me.
I always though that this is how my boy, Ozruk had to be.
Looks very strong in an elemental deck. If you don't take any controvertial deckbuilding decision in curve should deal 6 or 7 damage to all enemies, and I mean Star Aligner has an entire mini-quest to do that, cause is a very powerful effect, with this one you just need to play your deck.
I don't know how is the Elemental situation on Standard, but at least in Wild you can do a solid deck of only Elementals. The trap of this card if try to be greedy enough to make an OTK with this minion. But if you pay 7-Mana for a 7/7 that deals 5 damage to every enemy it's already massive.
Prismatic Elemental
Whirlweaver
Synthesize
Aqua Archivist
Unchained Gladiator
Tainted Remnant
For the last 3 expansions blizz was building up elemental mage archetype that didn't have a win con yet, and now they're giving this to shaman??
SMHing my head...
so this resets every time you miss an elemental in your chain?
completely unplayable lol
It's not unthinkable that a deck will be playable that consists of pure Elementals. Or one that runs cards that give you a load of (1)-cost Elemental tokens. In that case it might even be possible to chain them all the way to turn 7. Don't be too quick to judge while we're still revealing new cards.
Why in miniset?
we are getting outlaws and bloodrock "employees" and shaman is having outlaw so it will be some kind of tauren or other playable race from wow. If you look at main art on hearthstone page you will see frog shooter and i bet thats our shaman legendary
Put Primal Dungeoneer in core set blizzard!
