An update on the ongoing fight against unauthorized bots in Hearthstone after their post in August about the issue.
Quote from BlizzardBack in August , we gave you an update on our increased actions against bots this year. As promised, we’ve kept up that fight, and we wanted to give you a quick update on how it’s going.
In August and September, we banned 66,945 more bot accounts. That number is just the accounts banned for bot activity, not including other actions like inappropriate names or in-game language violations. We continue to evolve our methods and act against these types of unauthorized bots, and will continue taking regular action against them.
Why care about bots? It is easy wins.
never understood why you would bot in this game, there is no internal economy. what you got a bot to legend so you can have more cards so you can bot again next month? It doesn't make sense
It doesn't have to be a legend. You can just play with 51% winrate on ladder to get 340+ XP per hour. You can bot for a year, get 400 levels each expansion, then sell the account with 60000 gold to someone for cash. This way that someone will not pay money to Blizzard for packs.
ill never understand it I guess
It's also interesting, that the botting seems to occur only on the American server. I don't know much about Asia, but thre are definitely very few bots on Europe. I don't want to sound racist or whatever, but maybe those bots are products of something like those Indian scam call centers? I can definitely imagine a bunch of people working together and sustaining thousands of bots just to make them level up and sell the accounts later on eBay.
Europe is also infested with bots. But it depends on what time you play. I just played 3 games in my lunch break, and they were all against bots. I guess that around this time 75% of the games are against bots. And since some of them don’t show up on the player list, you can not report them. Early in the evening I get more games against real players.
Imagine the state of the game when they have removed 67k bots, just for a week. Imagine how many hundreds of thousands more there are... Bli$$ard should be brought down for scamming people and manipulating financial data regarding active users, which is a huge financial fraud, given that this is a main statistic investors look at.
Absolutely pathetic.
The bots its literally beneficial for the health of the game.
why blizzard?
If you watch Wild streamers they still struggle to find 1-2 human players every hour. The rest are pirate rogue/even shaman/secret mage bots. I think the wild bot situation is so out of hand that I wouldn't even care about a captcha popping up every 3 matches to confirm you're a human - it's that bad.
That's absolutely not true. I've only played ranked wild for the last 2 years at diamond5-legend mmr and I've faced no bots while climbing.
Last month I played a few games after reaching legend and I noticed some weird playing pirate rogues but that's still a stretch to call it bots. They weren't playing their cards instantly before they even draw it every turn like bots do
I've been playing the Wild format for a long time, every month I take the Legend rank and for the last six months almost all the players between 5 diamond and Legend are bots. I even have a special deck for this zone that counters endless bots.
Mind sharing a deck?
Sure. Just heal with clears.

It depends on how much you are playing. The streamer Roffle explained it very good. As the bots playing around the clock and if you are playing several hours per day you got matched with more bots, cause of the matchmaking system. This could happens at the beginning of the new season very often.
I once played against a pirate warrior bot which only hp every turn. If I played against others, I didn‘t recognized. But I‘m playing very less compared to others.
Meanwhile every arena run is still 80% games against auto-generated names, people who bought gold accounts to get the perfect deck (they just throw away any other draft).
67k sounds like a fun number, but it has done nothing whatsoever for the arena problem.
Noooo, the bots were fun, they played fast, now I have to wait a full turn for someone to decide to play a single card.
Yeah, out of all the things, botting seems the least worthwhile use of the report feature
67k bots?! goddamn
The funniest thing about updates like this is that if you brought that kind of stuff up on this site a few weeks before the announcement, everyone would shit in you and say how the game is fine and you're just whining but as soon as the update comes out everyone starts patting Blizzard on the back. Very peculiar behaviour from certain folks on this site
Well at least you have an accurate name, because not a single word you said was accurate. Bots are something the entire community has been well aware of, there's even some streamers (shout out to Dane) who specifically try to make decks that break bots they play against.
