The old cards are well known, but here's the new Wild-Only cards coming with Caverns of Time!
Quote from BlizzardThe Infinite Dragonflight is trying to change the timeline so that the Old God C’Thun wins the Battle of Ahn’Qiraj. The fate of the world—and all time—will soon be in your hands!
Caverns of Time includes 147 total cards: 34 brand new cards and 113 buffed reprints. There are also 15 Signature versions of iconic cards from the past that can be found in Caverns of Time packs! Caverns of Time is a set unlike any we’ve ever done before, and we’re excited to delve deep into its mysteries here.
Caverns of Time Available August 31, Just in Time for Twist!
Caverns of Time is launching on August 31, the day before the official launch of Twist! It’s important to note that Caverns of Time will not be legal in Standard when it launches. Instead, it’s Hearthstone’s first ever direct-to-Wild expansion, designed with Wild and Twist in mind.
When Twist launches on September 1, it will feature the Wonders format: a throwback to the early years of Hearthstone, including all expansions from Legacy (not Core) through Mean Streets of Gadgetzan, plus Caverns of Time.
34 New Cards!
Caverns of Time includes 34 all-new cards: 9 Common cards, 10 Rare cards, 8 Epic cards, and 7 Legendary cards. We were able to bend time and space to get you a sneak peek of these new cards before Caverns of Time arrives! Don’t be alarmed if things look a little different in this timeline; Caverns of Time travels back to before Death Knight and Demon Hunter were added to Hearthstone, so they’re sitting this set (and this first official Twist format) out.

All 147 Caverns of Time cards, and their tokens and related cards, will be viewable in the Official Card Library once Patch 27.2 is live.
113 Buffed Reprints!
The other 113 cards in Caverns of Time are cards from the past, strengthened by the shifts in the timeline. Two of these cards had more extreme transformations than the rest. They were reshaped by the sands of time... or, as some might say, reworked.
See the 27.2 Patch Notes for a list of the other 111 reprinted cards and the buffs they’re getting. If you already have them, older versions of these reprints will update in your collection automatically with Patch 27.2, before the launch of Caverns of Time. You can use those buffed versions in Wild right away! Otherwise, you can pick them up in Caverns of Time packs, alongside the new cards.
Duplicate protection applies to both the original version and the Caverns of Time version of all 113 reprinted cards. That means that if you already have these cards from the original set that they appeared in, you won’t open them again in Caverns of Time packs until you have all cards of a given rarity from the Caverns of Time set – meaning that players who already have the reprinted cards will be able to get all the new cards even faster!
New Signature Art
3 Caverns of Time Signature Cards
Three cards in Caverns of Time will have new Signature Art: Aya Blackpaw, Don Han’Cho, and C’Thun!
These can be obtained from Caverns of Time packs, Wild Packs, and any products that grant cards that can be obtained in Caverns of Time packs. Aya Blackpaw and Don Han’Cho can also be obtained from Mean Streets of Gadgetzan packs, and C’Thun can be obtained from Whispers of the Old Gods packs.
12 More Signature Cards from the Past
The are also 12 additional Signature cards from the past that can appear in Caverns of Time packs!
Just like the other three Signature cards, these 12 Signature cards have also been added to their original sets’ packs, where applicable.* Although these Signature cards can be found in Caverns of Time packs, these cards are not part of Caverns of Time for purposes like Twist format legality. That also means they won’t appear in Caverns of Time packs in Regular or Golden versions, only in their Signature versions.
* For example, the new Signature Patches the Pirate can be found in Caverns of Time packs or in Mean Streets of Gadgetzan packs. But Sir Finley, Brann, and Reno are from an Adventure, so there is no old pack for them to be added to and they can only be found in Caverns of Time packs or in products that grant cards that can be found in Caverns of Time packs. Normal duplicate protection rules also apply to all Caverns of Time Signature cards, both in their original packs and in Caverns of Time packs.
Get Ready for Battle!
With the launch of Caverns of Time also comes a suite of Battle-Ready Decks for you to take into Twist or Wild, featuring returning cards and new Caverns of Time cards. There are individual complete Battle-Ready Decks (offered for in-game Gold or money); new Battle-Ready Bundles, offering three complete Battle-Ready Decks for a reduced price (Runestones or money); and new Lite Battle-Ready Decks that are just as competitive, but at a lower dust value and price (Gold or money). With all these options, there’s a weapon for everyone to jump right into battle!
That’s all for this time. Make sure you check out the Born to Be Wild podcast on August 22 for an exclusive developer interview with Matt London and Chadd Nervig to discuss Caverns of Time, Twist, and more. We look forward to seeing you in the Caverns!
What would be the point?
Uhm, did anyone else get the, "You forgot an award" popup after the card changes, and felt confused? What does that even mean?
Battlegrounds battlepass
Ah okay. That's fine then. Don't really care for Battlegrounds.
I hate when they give signature cards to cards that already have a diamond version (Loatheb, reno)
Okay. I was doubting if buying packs for this set or not, but I like all this a lot. So I'll probably buy 10 packs to get most of the commons and rares, get a random Legendary and with luck a Signature.
My opinion is kinda the same that with the buffs, I don't see the big majority of this cards affecting Wild meta, so I would try to play my new wacky fun decks to be absolutly crushed for everyone, which is kinda lame, but I don't care much about ranking anyway.
I honestly think that they said "Wild buffs" for marketing, but this is actually a "Twist buffs", but you know what, maybe I would rank in Twist this month. Last Twist Rotation was pretty bad cause it was Standard 2.0. But this rotation is pure RETRO Hearthstone, so is probably going to be the more fair and slow HS experience that you are going to have in a while.
My only worry is that Skulking Geist is not in the rotation, and if two days after, Twist turn into be the Jade Idol meta all over again, is going to be a real downer. But the good side is that they always can freely ban cards from Twist is that's the case. So for the first time i have a bit of hype for Twist.
Jade Druid was tier 3 in the MSG. It became dominant only after it got UI
Jade Druid was tier 1 right before Un'Goro launched according to Tempo Storm, though it was mainly used in high rank to queue-snipe control players.
Hm, my memory is faulty then, I remember constant pirate warrior + shamanstone + aggro\miracle rogue + occasional renolocks and jade druids. Or maybe my local meta was different.
I mean, the company has to sell stuff to work. You need to pay the programmers, the designers, the artists, the voice actors, even for the servers. So yeah, they kinda want to make money of it to keep being able to make the game. That's how economy works.
It's true that the market is meticulously studied by psychoanalysts to get into your mind and try to abuse all the consumer's weaknesses. But that's how the industry works, it's not a Blizzard thing. If you have a gambling addiction you have to treat it like any other addiction.
But I don't think too many people would buy hundreds of packs to have all the Signatures.
To be honest, I think this set is going to sell pretty poorly, which is pretty bad for the future, because if it doesn't work out, they're not going to do events like this anymore because it's not profitable.
You saw it recently with Mercenaries, the mode didn't work and they had to stop giving it support. For many people the signatures are going to be the only reason to buy the packs, because they already have most of the cards, and the ones that not, can be crafted, if they are necessary, which honestly are not especially necessary.
So I play this game for almost a decade, and I've been wanting them to do something like this for Wild for quite some time, so the least I can do is support them by buying a couple of packs, instead of using that money to buy cigarettes. It's a win-win scenario in my opinion.
Does someone know when the balance patch goes live?
Do the balance changes also go live on august 31
They're live now.
Runi, Time Explorer has 7 unique locations it can Discover. All of them cost 3 and have 2 uses:
Chromie, Timehopper has 4 different Epochs. All have Cast when Drawn:
Finally, the Scarab Lord's Gong has the text "After this takes damage, fill your opponent's board with 1/1 Scarabs." Keep in mind the Gong is summoned for your opponent, so you get the Scarabs.
Runi has to be a hint to all future HS expansion right? I don't know why they would say "From the FUTURE" otherwise.
When I read the card I though it was going to be a pool of collectable Locations from future sets that would leave the pool as they began to enter the sets, and replaced by other Locations from future sets. And that was like, the crazy effect I saw in my life. But looks like they are just predefined tokens.
It could be just for flavor, but it would be kinda dope that "from the Future" means something. Having in mind that "from the past" is already a mechanic.
It wouldn't be the first time they've alluded to future expansions with a set's cards (see Death Beetle and the flavor text for Druid of the Reef and Shadow Waltz), so I wouldn't put it past them. Maybe one or two of these might re-emerge in the future like Xenedar, Korhune, or Earth, but then there's the Nighthold which seems very unlikely with Paladins losing Secrets as a component of their identity.
Thanks for the clarification! That was eating me up inside.
Any chance you know what is the fifth basic shaman totem, from the card Totally Totems?
Thanks again!
The fifth totem is the Spell Damage +1 Totem. It was originally part of Shaman's totems but was removed for the Strength Totem.
Of course, now that I reread the card makes Totally Sense. Thanks!
Most legendaries look rather meh for wild... I will buy enough packs to get all new rares and that's all. Then think about what is worth crafting.
