the hammer is garbadge
the drake will see play and might get nerf
conductor is a solid card , but then again overload
Mark the date and time (I will).
This drake will be in absolutely nothing competitive, ever.
I can dump truckloads of minions that are "insane" if they live 1 turn.
It has rush my guy. It doesn't need to survive one turn.
Not sure where the drake fits in current shaman decks but it's pretty damn strong. 6/6 rush that usually isn't going to take damage from whatever it's attacking into and can threaten 12 face damage next turn (and summoning 2 3/1s).
Just feels weird that none of the released cards have synergy with it, nor is dragon shaman currently a thing. Seems to be a recurring theme this expansion, a lot of "huh?" cards.
Here's essentially what the drake is, and when viewed in this context, highlights how weak it is.
So let's compare this to fire elemental (hasn't seen play in forever).
The turn this is played, it's prettttty much Battlecry: Deal 6 damage to an enemy minion. (There are nuance situations where yes, this could kill a 12 Health minion, or leave behind a 3/1 or two, but in most cases, that's just what this is, and IF this is taking out a 12 Health minion in exchange for its own life, that's a 7 mana assassinate which is awful, so again, usually just 7 mana Battlecry 6 to a minion).
Fire elemental is 1 mana cheaper, deals 2 less damage, but can also target face. So, in most situations you will run into, you are left with a 6/5 for fire ele, or a 6/6 for the dragon.
If your opponent is aggro, you're probably at a game winning point if this was playable and saved you from dying anyways. If they're control, they might not even have a minion in play to Rush into, or they do, and they just Death strike/Asphyxiate/Shield slam/Light that burns you/etc it away on their turn.
So then there's the main argument people around here are throwing around "yes but it's 12 mana face next turn." I can list 20 minions in 2 minutes that are more threatening than this if left alive a turn (actually, probably 40, because every single titan is on that list). Hell, the Torghast Custodian or whatever (Shaman 6/10 minion that gained rush, divine shield, or windfury for each enemy minion) also threatened 12 face next turn, could take more minions off the enemy board, and probably had around 6 Health left after the divine shield double bonk as well). Never saw play, even for a second, and never would.
My whole argument is. People on here seem to be latching onto the "yeah, but if this lives" aspect of this card, which applies to so, so many minions.
The only decks running this, during all of it's existence (buffs, if any, excluded of course) are decks doing it for fun, and arena decks.
Drake seems like an arena card.
Tempest Hammer is really good, but the control decks that might want it probably can't run it since they need the overload weapon.
Disciple is pretty average.
So, if you get the 5 mana legendary effect off which reduces all overload cards by 1 AND get 1 discount on ever the ragnaros-spell or the „summon 3 copies“ spell, you COULD have the 10 mana combo to summon 4 ragnaros in your field (ofc you need to have 1 minion on board). With the discount from the instrument weapon it makes it even easier
Shaman trying not to get the worst cards imaginable challenge **IMPOSSIBLE**
Sooo... Tempest hammer is just a 4 mana 4/3 weapon except way worse ?
What am I missing ?
Sure this can clear a 1 health minion and a 3 health minion in the perfect scenario, or deal 4 to face, but is that even good for 4 mana ?
Well you don't have to attack into it and take the face damage. You can also clear a 1 health target then do damage to the next biggest thing.
It's an awkward card for sure, but a 4/3 weapon on its own would be very powerful.
Maybe it's worse that standard 4/3 weapon, but havent's you noticed that every 4 mana weapon has 2 durability ? Plus this can go thru Silverback Patriarch and kill Stag Spirit Wildseed so... This weapon is kinda decent.
I mean, there is no other 4/3 weapon in the game, those are premium stats, and the drawback is not actually a drawback, cause you could use it on your favor.
you can kill a 2/1 and a 4/3 with just one attack, you can remove a Divine Shield and then kill the Divine Shield minion. you can hit face to kill a 12/3 minion on the board without taking any damage. and the damage goes faces if there is no minions or if your opponent is at low health. Is just not a good aggro Weapon, but looks pretty solid to me.
Why these cards feel like they have been designed several expansions ago? They seem bad
The Drake seems awful. Like just a much worse Neptulon, which while granted was 3 more mana, was also neutral and a legendary that left the 4/2's on your board.
Hammer is a 4 mana "4/3," which has some interesting applications. Might see play but I doubt it.
The 2/3 is great.
Neptulon was as you said legendary so only 1 per deck, 10 mana and notably the hands attacked "instead" and were only summoned once. Neptulon is probably better yes but it's 10 mana.. this is 7 and can do 12 damage to face(or just the targeted minion instantly) if it survives the turn because the summoned drakes attack FIRST, not INSTEAD.
I'd rather pay 7 mana for 12 damage than 10 for 16. I'd also rather have a minion that can replenish my board endlessly than lose one hand and have the wackest 10-drop. Maybe just a preference :)
What a garbage opinion lol. This drake is insane board control and does 12 when attacking face
The two minions, specially the last one, have some potential. The weapon seems pretty weak.
the weapons a 4 mana deal 12
In a vacuum, but the turn it’s coming down, it’s not great against quite a few board shapes. It’s not great at going face either, since the damage targets the lowest* health enemy. So, the 3 dmg is often going to hit undesirable targets.
