Azure Drake was so good that if you had any plans at all to put a 5 mana minion in your deck and cared about literally any other text or number on the card for any reason, it went in, frequently as a 2-of.

Sure it didn't just win games the moment you played it, but it was in almost every non-aggro deck ever made.

If Hearthstone was balanced it would be the most boring game in the history of mankind.

Well, Chess is balanced. And it's bigger than hearthstone ever will be, and not boring at all.
Note quite, actually. In fact, Chess and its lack of balance has been a well known thing, with a documented effect on winrate so high the average gamer these days would call it wildly imbalanced: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First-move_advantage_in_chess

posted a message on Let's refine my Control Nzoth Rogue together!

If you're really looking to cut Swashburglar+Patches, I would look to add Razorpetal Lasher. I think swapping Sap for Mimic Pod might be a good idea as well, and if you add in the Razorpetal Lashers I believe the value of Sherazin goes up. Having no turn 1 play is a pretty nasty downside though so I'm not sure you really want to nix the Swashburglar.

I feel like this deck really needs something to protect its face, if anything. I don't know what would really fill that niche, but despite all the healing there's nothing that is going to protect you from someone really determined to go face.

The requirement is pretty painful to make, but on the other hand the reward basically ends the game.

Yeah I don't know, maybe if control paladin makes a return with good enough draw and a new removal tool or two, this might go somewhere.

posted a message on Senior Hearthstone Designer Spoiler regarding the underwhelming Rogue Quest

Honestly the issues with the card, as I see them, are 1: finding the time to play a 5 cost card that does nothing for the current board state and 2: balancing out the card/tempo disadvantage you put yourself in playing all these minions repeatedly.

While these are pretty damning issues, a water package helps balance it out somewhat, and Rogue's gimmick-heavy card list means the quest might be surprisingly dangerous. It opens up a lot of theoretical OTK combos at a bare minimum, and makes gimmick cards (Shadowcaster, anyone?) much scarier. If Water Rogue and Shaku taught us anything its that Rogue value is excruciatingly difficult to predict in advance, and sometimes even cards that look unplayably bad on paper will fill a valuable niche.

Well, that's one nasty rogue card.
