Welos posted a message on Rogue is gonna b so busted again on so many levels...Posted in: General DiscussionI would argue the secrets are close to tempo neutral. The effects are worth roughly 2.5 - 3 mana and are conditional.
Ghastly Gravedigger is a tempo loss on its face as a 4/3 for 3 mana. Its effect can give you a virtual tempo advantage, but I'd argue you already need a tempo lead on board to snowball this advantage. This may be difficult to do on curve if your turn 2 is playing a secret. Maybe this is more of a midrange deck then a tempo deck, and Ghastly Gravedigger is supposed to be played after generating tempo with Private Eye and other synergies/payoffs.
Private Eye is definitely a busted card on its face. Roughly 8 mana of effect for 4 mana is what could make this deck work, as the rest of the secret package does not seem very tempo positive compared to what tier decks are doing in the Standard format.

PetiteMouche posted a message on Rogue is gonna b so busted again on so many levels...Posted in: General DiscussionSerrated bone spikes looks crazy at first glance but when you really think about it it's just a glorified, less conditional backstab that does a bit more damage.. I mean yeah ok this looks strong even at second glance lol, but I'm more terrified by the secret package.
However I gladly welcome Ghastly gravedigger to the Wild format, wish it was a neutral card even. 3 mana mutanus that can CHOOSE the card to neutralize ? Yes please, fear my wrath degenerate mages and druids.
I'm assuming "choose" means "discover 3 cards", it's unclear but I doubt it'll let me see the entire hand of the opponent, this would be ridiculous even for 2022 HS devs.

FortyDust posted a message on Y'Shaarj finally says his own namePosted in: General DiscussionQuote from Trinity809 >>I'm pretty sure nobody told the audio-guy the now a decade old way of saying that name and ofc narrow minded people will take this as a victory.
It is Ya-Sha-Raj, it has been like that for 10 years in warcraft canon and anybody who sais it otherwise is wrong. Not stupid, just unknowing, and wrong.
Are you sure it's not narrow minded of you to stick blindly to tradition even in the face of new evidence? Maybe the development team has simply seen the light and finally understands how English spelling and pronunciation work. As mentioned above, retconning happens all the time.

goguletuestiba posted a message on No it's not bias, key cards are sniped immediately after taunt dies.Posted in: BattlegroundsI always had my doubts about the "enemies will randomly hit" in Battlegrounds, because i observed that certain minions like Baron Rivendare, Soul Juggler or Mechano-Tank are either the very first target after taunt is killed, either they are avoided as hell until they boosted enough to stand a chance/win the game.
I also tried to avoid the bias and put everything on pure luck, but i also see a lot of other people complaining about the same behaviour. Since i'm not a guy that takes such obvious patterns as lucky coincidences, i started using my skills to create a simple bot that reads, parses and analyses HS logs. The idea was simple: how many rounds my key minions are killed as a primary target when there is no taunt on the table, and how many times the key minions luckily survive.
The results are pretty interesting and either i am the unluckiest man alive, either this game is scripted as fuck.
Out of almost 600 games, which generated 7745 rounds, i had Rivendere in 278 games and 1946 rounds. 76% (!!) of these rounds, my Rivendere was the very first minion to be sniped when the taunt was gone (or not at all on the table).
Soul Juggler. I played 167 games against Soul Juggler, more precisely 948 rounds. Here are the % of my hits on it:
7 cards on table - 1% direct hit
6 cards on the table - 1% direct hit
5 cards on the table - 2% direct hit
4 cards on the table - 9% direct hit (!)
3 cards on the table - 27% direct hit
2 cards on the table - 60% direct hitHow it is possible that Rivendare is sniped at a rate of 76% with 7/6 cards on the table, while the Soul Juggler is avoided 81% of the time with just 4 cards on the table? The very very similar stats we get with Mechano-Tank.
Yes, i know, it's a bias. I also know "Why would Blizzard script the game? What is the point?" rhetoric. However, keep in mind that Battlegrounds is nothing more than a slot machine mode, where the chances of hitting one of the 3-4 meta builds are actually very low in a game of 8 players, especially if you apply the same math that it's used to explain the visible patterns of key minions sniping. Therefore, the game engine compensates by providing very rare hits/sequences, generating spectacular lucky moments almost every game if not every round in some situations.
Behind "is a luck game" you can easily hide scripted behaviour. It's too easy and the benefits for Blizzard are way too huge to avoid this. Battlegrounds is literally a dopamine machine that survives only because you can achieve super mambo jambo combos, but if you'll step back and analyse the ods of this happening so often, you'll understand that's not random at all.

People complaining about Rogue in standard.
Why?
It's currently at the top of the bottom, where it's been since last expansion.
But druid and hunter staying in the top two is fine?

Guff
Topior
Anacondra
Brann
Renathal
Kaelthas Sinstrider
Prestor
Raid Boss Onyxia
Denathrius
Seriously, Blizzard.
Stop designing neutral legendaries that are only good in druid.
Effectively exceeding the 2 (3 including mini-set) legendary limit each class gets each expansion...
I know I'm not the only one who's sick of it.

We're all sick of druid... right?

Trump better be that Mystery Participant...
The effort he put into those videos of his earns him the spot.

Damn. Didn't even use the actual good cards Rogue is getting for this expansion to make your point.
None of the secrets are particularly impactful up front.
Rogue only has 3 secrets in rotation right now, so it'll easy to read which is which and play around them.
Overall, the rogue cards this expansion look to value, stabilizing cards.
The archetype we all know Rogue is most known for.
With cards like Spirit Poacher, Bibliomite, and Elitist Snob you think ROGUE will be the problem?
Damn.

Immolate is a bad card.
I know it's not in any good decks, but it is a stupid design.

i cannot wait for the Dane video with Shattershambler

Yea and Tickatus was never touched.
I called for that fucking card to get deleted every single time it got played, so I'm not defending it.
But blizzard doesn't take player feel into account unless they're nerfing a rogue deck.
If they did, Hunter wouldn't be at the top end of nearly every meta in every expansion.

Glad we're getting those hunter buffs that everyone was asking for.
Because Hunter has been struggling this expansion. /s
