You can just afk, it's interesting to see how blizzard promotes afking as a method of quest completion. They don't want you to play a game and concede when a game is lost, they want you there, spending more time and increasing player engagement statistics for their investors.

As someone already wrote, this happens because of marketing. Why buy a new and shiny portrait if you can't abuse your opponent. The game must be in a dire financial situation for them to take such extreme measures.
