posted a message on IOS not working

I have been an iOS Hearthstone player for a few years now, and I've never encountered this sort of circular bug before.

I open the app (fresh), and it says "Let's go to the store to start the download."  I click the "Open" button under this message in Hearthstone, and it takes me to the app store, and more specifically to the Hearthstone app within the app store.  I have already downloaded the app/update ... so the iOS app store has a button that says "OPEN".  When I tap on that, it takes me back to the Hearthstone app... which loads up the same message box as before ("Let's go to the store to start the download.")

I have force quit both Hearthstone and the App Store.  No avail.

I even force quit all my apps and hard booted my iPhone 11... still no dice.

Essentially, the app seemed to be completely dead and unusable...   :(

    ... ... ... ...

...or so I thought!  I ended up deleting the app entirely from my iPhone.  Then I re-installed it from the app store.  It's working again.

It's a pain, but hey... at least it's a fix.  (can't go more than 12 hours without playing a match... it's my time-waster, my outlet)

In re-reading my post, it does come across as a little "flamey" and in reading you response, your temperance and patience have inspired me to give this another crack.  I'm going to try it again... and give it another good honest chance with more logging (for everyone's benefit) and with more adherence to your suggestions about the problematic matchups.

Thank you for your feedback... really.  I feel ALIVE again.  ;)

    A thoughtful review:

I really wanted this deck to work. It seemed so fun on the surface. However, this deck really hurts... it's so painful.

I kept a 10-game log starting from rank 5.0 (meaning rank 5, no stars). I had played this deck about 20 times previous to this (to get a feel for it), and I generally tried to follow the strategy and counsel of the OP.

It's fun when you win, cuz you usually OTK. But when you lose, it's super frustrating... cuz you can't get anything going. Seems like against aggro decks, this one struggles. Also, against high armor decks, this one loses nearly every time. Even when you win, it's so stressful and it's just not as fun to me as some other (creative) decks I've played.

    Here's my history/thoughts:

    Game #1: Priest, W (1-0) - yay
Game #2: Druid (taunt), L (1-1) - opponent gained over 40 armor throughout the course of the game; Hardonox > Naturalize > Witching Hour > Carnivorous Cube = game over
Game #3: Paladin (odd-aggro), L (1-2) - even with double Holy Nova on turn 5 and 6, he still overwhelmed me and finished off with Leeroy
Game #4: Shaman (Shudderwock OTK), W (2-2) - hexed my Maly on turn 9 (after I put it out on turn 8 with coin), was still able to survive and win (but I think I may have gotten lucky with opponent's poor draw)
Game #5: Warlock, (cube control), L (2-3) - opponent copied my Maly with Faceless Manipulator, then copied that one with another FM, and Hellfired us all to death (except his hero)
Game #6: Mage (Shudderwock... I know, right?), L (2-4) - he drew double polymorph from two Raven Familiars which screwed the whole strategy up; an interesting meta-breaking strategy he used with Shudderwock mage (have never seen this one before)
Game #7: Rogue (Kingsbane), W (3-4) - was easier to survive this matchup... Shadowreaper Anduin saved me; ended up doing HP+MB+HP+MB+HP for 16 dmg to finish him off (reminiscent of the Mind Blast priest, which I love playing, btw)
Game #8: Warlock, L (3-5) - no discernable archetype because he steamrolled me with giant and infernal (lost on turn 6)
Game #9: Mage (control, Forst Lich Jaina), L (3-6) - could not get the draws I needed; getting the feeling that this deck is dependent on good draws and a little luck.
Game #10: Hunter, W (4-6) - was able to pull off a Mind Blast combo for 20 dmg, and then (again) Shadowreaper Anduin saved the day.

    ---

In short, I really hate this deck... it feels so bad when you lose. It makes you want to quit Hearthstone forever. You want so desperately to pull off the magical combos, but more times than not... they just don't happen.

It's extremely frustrating. Not to mention, this deck takes a while to play a game. So you've invested more time into a potentially (and probably) losing effort. As opposed to Pirate Warrior (back when that was a thing), you're in - you're out... when you lose, it's quick and obvious. This deck is a slow, painful, frustrating death.

Further, it become obvious to your opponent what your strategy is, and with this foreknowledge, it seems easy to navigate around it and/or squash it.

This deck is about surviving and hoping to pull off one of the various combos. I've decided that (for me), it's not fun to take damage to the face and try to recover and/or pull a rabbit out of the hat.

Granted, 10 games is hardly the sample size, but again, I've played this deck many times before ... just kept a 10-game log after I reached rank 5. My goal is to reach Legend rank (which I've never done), and this is not the deck to accomplish that goal.

I tried... I failed, and I am abandoning this deck (for now).

I have not found this deck to be effective at all.  One thing to remember is that when putting out the Mana Wraith, it will increase the cost of a second one that you attempt to put out.  Part of my problem is that I'm not getting my Wild Growth.

Of course, against non-Priests, this deck is total trash.  MB Priest, if they hit it right (which seems to be often), will destroy you on turn 5 or 6.

Not hating... just relaying my experience.  (Have not won yet with this deck against any class, including priests.)

Not sure what all the hate is about... I was challenged to a Tavern Brawl duel by an online friend (for 80-gold challenge); he played warlock, I played priest (just for the hey of it... I had already played druid, hunter, and warrior).

It was an epic battle that took us both several turns into fatigue.  It was super fun.  (I lost, but it was a great match... dare I say it was one of the "wildest" brawls I can recall having ever participated in.)

Isn't that the point of the game?  To have fun.  If you're a hater and you don't like it anymore, go do something else... or don't.  I'm still having fun.  Sure, it's never fun to get steamrolled, but there is back-and-forth here... sometimes you steam roll, sometimes you get pwned.

I don't see the reason for all the hate spew.

A very affordable deck.  Watching you play it is nice and all, but any strategy tips?  Should this be played aggro?  When playing Zombie Chow, do you hold off on buffing until you can get it done in 1 turn where he can attack big?  Mulligan guide?

    Thanks.

The spells are in there to act as filler cards.  LK removes them on turn 1 and makes the other stuff more likely to get.  :)

Nope, nope, nope.  This deck does NOT have a high win rate.  (I call 5% or less not very high.)  I've tried this deck 20 times and not a single win.

    Attempt 1 lost to Nazra
Attempt 2 beat Nazra, lost turn 2 to Malchezaar
Attempt 3 lost to Nazra turn 5
Attempt 4 lost to Nazra turn 9 (could have killed her with 16/16 inner fire, but chose to try to heal up; didn't work obviously)
Attempt 5 lost to Nazra turn 5
Attempt 6 lost to Nazra turn 4
Attempt 7 lost to Nazra turn 7
Attempt 8 beat Nazra, went into Malchezaar with 29 health and no C'Thun buff at all, lost turn 3 to Malchezaar

... and the story goes on and on like this.  Honestly, none of these were even close.

Seems like unless you get the perfect combination (Tar Creeper + Power Word: Shield + Divine Spirit... in other words VERY RNG), you lose.

Sorry, but I do not recommend this deck. It's an exercise in frustration. Look up the Kel'Thuzad Shaman deck... it still took me a few tries with that one, but MUCH better chance for success (and it eventually worked, unlike this deck).

Went from 14 to 9 with this, going 12-2 in the process... but then lost about 5 in a row.  Hovering around the high 10s / low 9s with this.

That being said, the games I won climbing the ladder were ridiculous... was crushing my opponent usually around turn 6.

    Thanks for sharing.

    Trash.

Played 5 times, got the loot 2 out of those 5 times.  It's fun to try to just get the loot out, but it's too RNG to win with.  OTK?  I fail to see how.

Ok, been playing this deck for a few days now, and YES it is super fun, but AARRGGHH it can be super-frustrating.

You have a 50/50 chance of Y'Shaarj coming before Barnes, which automatically puts a damper on the biggest win condition.

The deck certain can survive without this condition, but ending up with a 10-cost minion in your hand early that you can't use it taking up a valuable spot in your hand.  I cannot rank up past 12 with this.

Again, though... super fun.  When you get Barnes on turn 4 (or 3), it's an auto-win. :)

Ok, dusted Anomalus to get Y'Shaarj.

One the one games that I actually got the Barnes combo to work, I won.

Two other games, I did not get the combo to work, but still won. Lost another one w/o combo.

    Will keep at it.

So far, having fun!  (and isn't that the point, really?)

I don't have Y'Shaarj so I substituted Deathwing which is a 12/12... theoretically better than 10/10?  (what am I missing here?)

I'm 0-2 (which is not much of a sample size, I know) but on the first match, I drew Deathwing (bummer)... and STILL won!  See what fun I'm having?  :)

2nd match, I tracked into Deathwing, fought the good fight, but lost.  However, I took the quest Warrior DEEP into end game... this deck is really powerful, and seems to be quite flexible.  Have not seen Barnes yet.

Going to keep trying and report back once I have more data to share... but like I said, it's a fun deck (which is rare these days, sadly... with all the super-jacked-up-legendary-net-decks).

Thanks for posting, but I do not understand how you are winning with this.  I've played it ten straight times, and I'm only counting the ones where I got Doomsayer on turn 7 (cuz otherwise, it's pointless... and that's okay).  Not once out of those 10 tries did I get Medivh and Call of the Wild.

    Seems too RNG to me.

Edit: Ok, I played a few more times, and I got Doomsayer on turn 7, Medivh on turn 8, and Call of the Wild on turn 9, plus Explosive Shot and Animal Companion after that... so three great spells to work with in concert with Medivh.  And I STILL only BARELY won.  Only because I got so lucky with the minions that were generated.

Way WAY too RNG to be reliable.
