I've noticed that several cards are using odd/even turn numbers to trigger or determine their card's effect, and it made me wonder: Is there anything in the game that indicates what number turn you're on? Perhaps there's something in the scrolling game history (not sure about that), but as far as I know the game only tells you when it's your turn or your opponent's.
I've gotta say that in all the card contests I've been a part of, this is the first time that I've been stumped on what kind of card to base around this week's theme. I've had several ideas, but none of which I felt fully committed to submitting. I'll give it some more thought, I just hope it won't be too late by then!
Seriously? It's very boring and probably the least creative card out of the finalists. Every week someone tries to push something like that through. Not to mention it's broken as hell
I don't disagree. In most of these contests I usually take a couple days to really think out a card concept. This week, I decided to do the opposite: I rushed out the first idea that came to mind. Not that I thought being one of the first submissions would give me an advantage, I just wanted to give it a try. A Shaman type 'giant' that worked off of Overload was what first came to me.
I also agree that the stats are pretty high. If I could go back, I'd tune it down to a 9/9 with Taunt, don't think I'd tweak the mana cost. I made a couple edits to the stats on the day I posted my entry, considered making more but by then it was a couple days in and by then I didn't think it'd be fair.
That being said, of all the contests I've entered, of all the times I've been in the finals, Son of Therazane scored me the most votes by a long shot, so I don't think he's all that bad. :)
Voted for Giantslayer, Inspiration, and Desperate Prayer. While I like the effect of Downgrade, the card name and art just really turns me off (and yes, I know that Upgrade! is a card but the name is more fitting in that context.)
Looking good so far and I'm looking forwards to the rest! I really like the WotlK theme going on in many of the cards. Charging Wendigo is my favorite.
Here's my entry this week, the Rogue spell Garrote. I figured that if a class was going to have one Secret and one Secret only, it would have to be one that's difficult to play around for any opposing class, at any stage of the game. The Battlecry negation makes it difficult to set plays around (I'm looking at you, Mysterious Challenger) and purposely sending a low-cost minion to trigger the secret will kill most of them outright. Works pretty well for anti-aggro decks too which are full of low-cost Battlecry and Deathrattle minions.
And yes, I'm aware that the card's picture/art style is pretty creepy compared to most Hearthstone cards, but it is the card art used for the Garrote spell in the WoW TCG. It's also the only art I can find that depicts the spell as well, so while it's not my first choice, it'll have to do...
A few days ago, I literally thought the next competition would be about creating a Secret card for a class that wasn't Hunter/Mage/Paladin. Pretty spooky, but I'll get right to work.

Edit: The watermark has been changed.

Voted for Head of the Snake and Double Barrel Sniper. For me, this was the toughest theme to play with by far.

Great set, one of the most solid ones I've ever seen. Especially when it comes to the class cards.

Just trying to find more ways to make Overload a positive thing for Shaman.
Edit: Very minor change to the card text.

Since more card draw is something all classes could benefit from, with a neutral yet beneficial added effect.

Edit: Wow, that was added to the list really fast lol

Edit: Decided to rebalance the card a bit.

A 'girl' minion refers to any non-legendary female minion of human, gnome, night elf, blood elf, and goblin variety.
