Yeah, if you don't have the legendaries at first (which I probably won't), Taking out the Carrion Grub and adding Forlorn Stalker is pretty good upside.
Also, never forget about adding Harrison Jones for that mid game to swing tempo back and to refill your hand. If I were building this (and I might give it a shot) a slightly cheaper version would remove and add the following:
- 1 Don Han Cho (your hand will most likely be empty and not have a target)
- 1 carrion grub
- 1 animal companion (why would you want a spell that creates a minion when the deck is meant to target minions in your hand)
+ 1 Forlorn Stalker
+ 2 Fiery Bat
I would might even get greedy and try to add Barnes somewhere.
Dreadsteed, Usher of Souls, C'Thun, Ironbeak Owl, Siphon Soul, Knife Juggler, Renounce Darkness, Sir Finley, Flesheating Ghoul (volcanic drake could work as well), Sense Demons
Well in my testing so far, the original version wasn't working so well. Also it was getting beat up by super aggro decks and mid-range hunter.
I made a few changes that helped out and after 15+ games I was at a win rate of the mid 60% range.
In my initial playtesting before changes I never found the Arcanist to be able to do anything so I took it out. If it's as good as you say I'll put one in.
Just at first glance, I can see a couple of issues. The biggest of which is that there is no card draw in the deck. In any combo deck, you want to be able to draw the necessary combo pieces.
First, I'd take out Spellbender. Spellbender is one of those cards that looks great and you only have two minions but Counterspell is just more effective. Arcane intellect is not a bad replacement either.
I am giving this deck a try for fun. I made a couple of changes for personal reasons and one big one because I assume you didn't have the card. I'll post my results.
So, I play tested it with the Leeroy and it was hit or miss. I went 7-7 against a random assortment of stuff at level 19.
So, based on what I was seeing at the lowest tiers, which was a lot of control decks and bigger minions, I made some changes that helped improve my win rate a bit.
I took out Leeroy. Added a Harrison Jones. It is good against other paladins.
I also took out the Healbot and added a Eadric the Pure. Eadric is just stupid good against some big minions. i purely put it in there for fun as well.

Yeah, I just made a deck with Sense Demons and Dreadsteed as the only demon.

I put this deck together and decided to give it a shot.

Since I had the cards, I made a couple of personal changes. I'll try to get back with my results.

Okay, so for something really crazy and insane I made one change.
I don't have a VanCleef, so I replaced it with a Brann.
I'll let you know how it goes.
