posted a message on Patch 15.0 - New SoU Cards Added, Fixes, Improvements, Cardbacks & More!

Except it's barely nerfed, but rather updated for the new way the game works, which also makes any interactions with it easier to understand.

    Calm down.

posted a message on Top 2 - Tavern Brawl #153

I don't know if anyone else has done this cause i never saw it mentioned the first time this brawl happened. A couple of people here have used Upgrade, but i always went.

    Upgrade! + Dread Corsair

It can be pretty inconsistent if you dont draw enough of each card, but it's fun. Ideally you wanna have drawn half of each by turn 3.

I haven't played against it, but this should beat most mill decks since everything you draw costs either 1 or 0 mana and just gives you more threats.

posted a message on America has gone too far (screenshot name syntax)

So i am looking through my Hearthstone screenshots to find something that happened recently, and i notice that at some point the screenshot name template was changed. So i look at the last ones with the new format, but then i realize that the ones listed last are not necessarily the most recent ones because the dates are formatted mm-dd-yy!

What the hell is that about? You'd think that if you include a timestamp in the file name that it's for the purpose of indexing. Your dumb, everyday conventions have no place here. This is the real world! And by real world i mean a folder on my computer with image files that i want in order. Oldest first and newest last, and that means the time elements must be in size order. There's a reason we list people by their last names, even if we don't usually say names like that.

Get on it. Expecting results by next patch.

posted a message on Starving Buzzard Syndrome: Blizzard's Long History of Being God-Awful at Nerfing

A couple of comments. 1, The Undertaker nerf didn't really kill any decks. Aggressive hunter is still around. Zoo is still around. Kind of. The playstyle of those decks weren't built around the Undertaker. That just helped shape the decks to make them better. It is impossible to play miracle rogue without Auctioneer, but not impossible to flood the board with cheap minions as warlock without Undertaker.

2, The Leeroy nerf, as you point out yourself, only killed the card and no decks, so that shouldn't really be a big deal. And i am ok with killing that card. It gave handlock, one of the most controlling decks around, one of the biggest bursts around. Didn't people even start putting that in control warrior? 'Card was nuts.

3, Warsong nerf can only have killed one deck. Unless you count potential future decks, which probably would never have happened since Patron was so fucking good. Why just build a worse warrior deck?

But you have a good point that they sometimes overnerf things. Especially the Buzzard and Warsong. But there's already been rationalizations in this thread for Warsong. They would have to take a very hard look at that for any small minions released in the future. It's just a nightmare for design, and would probably soak up an unreasonable amount of playtesting. Having a single card be that important for the design of the entire game is probably not that smart. On the other hand they should have realized that from the start and never have printed the card in this form at all. Remember when it gave all minions charge and there was a Molten Giant otk deck? That sure was interactive.

When it comes to Buzzard... While that was a combo with Unleash the Hounds, it has advantages over Cult Master beyond that. When you're running out of cards you could play Buzzard and some small beast and just keep drawing more beasts, which is terrifying when it comes to an aggressive deck. It just combos with so many cards, and will also be a big limit on future design.

It's comparable to what priest can do with Northshire Cleric, but way easier. It's not enough to combo Norhtshire with a Circle. You first need to either set up the board so that many creatures are damaged (which is difficult), or you need a Pyromancer and some other spell. And there's not that many cards beyond Circle and Holy Nova that really does anything with Cleric, while almost all cards in a hunter deck would go with Buzzard. Also priest has no aggressive deck so it's not nearly as scary when they do it.

Some of these nerfs i still find reasonable, and the others may be Blizzard A: making their job easier, and B: opening up more possibilities for future releases. Maybe there would have been really cool cards that could have never been printed because they'd bee too crazy with Warsong Commander, and that would have been sad. On the other hand, if the don't have a Warsong Commander to work with, what exactly will make them cool? Patron itself is a gimmick card, and it will never see play unless the effect can be abused. It's like Blizzard wants to have their cake and eat it too. They want to print very cool cards, but they also want to game to stay at a certain balance/play style. Exactly how interesting can the game get?

[oops, not done rambling] See, big combos are really cool and really fun, and they require a lot of ingenuity to figure out, and possibly a lot of skill to execute. But since you can't put fewer than 30 cards in your deck, a big combo can only be so reliable. It has to be super powerful if it's going to see play. If it's not super powerful it won't be worth building a deck around. How interesting can the game get with a "Play minion. Attack minion."-playstyle and no worthwhile combos around? I don't know. It'll be balanced i guess...

posted a message on Can't you earn both Feugen and Stalagg?

I've seen some people claim that you get both from completing the construct quarter, but mine only shows Feugen as a reward.

    http://puu.sh/anTvc.jpg

What's up with that? Is it showing only Feugen for everyone else, or is it different for every user? Is it displaying wrong, or will all of us just get one and have to rely on our opponent playing the other one (or crafting it golden) to get use of the deathrattle? That seems weird.

posted a message on Curse of Naxxramas - Mage Card Revealed - Duplicate

I feel the opposite, that this will be the best in a rush deck where you have more cheap minions. Cause really, what minion would you not want more of in a rush deck? More Leper Gnomes, more Mana Wyrms, more Water Elementals. More of all minions is pretty cool for the mage.

But i guess the issue then is whether you even have time to play the secret. It's kinda slow. Though... i guess it's kinda like playing an arcane intellect, but you only get two of a minion on your board. Fascinating.

posted a message on The Weird Contradiction Between the Warrior Hero Power and Its Minions and Spells

The more i've played rogue, the more i've started to appreciate the warrior hero power. Because using weapons to control the board is amazing, but if you do it without any life gain you may just die faster than you gain control. Armor up! allows the warrior to be much more aggressive in controlling (?), And if you have the gorehowl equipped. which lasts a long time so you can attack and armor up every turn, you might say that that adds up to the best hero ability in the game. For controlling.

I would say the hunter hero power is much more restrictive and boring. Maybe they both only complement one style of play, but armor up! can still be used in much more different ways than steady shot. As has been mentioned, there is shield slam, or you can go very low on health and afterwords gain armor to work with things like molten giant. Armor up may be at the lower end of interesting/useful, but it's not the worst.

posted a message on Molten Giant is the current victim?
    Quote from seedy »

From what I've seen it actually is a very strong deck if built and played properly. The #1 ranked Legend player (StrifeCro) was talking about this today in the Turn2 podcast (http://ihearthu.com/turn2-episode-12/) - that the #2 ranked player has beaten him many times using a version of the warrior OTK deck. The fact that it is very effective, incredibly annoying to play against, and probably abuses the charge mechanic in an unintended way could definitely result in a nerf. I like the idea of raising the mana cost of Molten Giant slightly, to 23 or 25.

This was interesting, and it sounds to me like the problem with warriors lie more with with warsong commander, especially when coupled with panda. Of course having giants that cost zero or close to zero helps too.

Makes me think of the summoning portal and the pint sized summoner. The summoning portal also gives you a big advantage if you can play it and keep it alive, but it's high cost for a crap minion otherwise. The effect can also be countered by board clear. The warsong commander costs 1 more than your standard 2/3 and still has a huge potential for crazy combos. The charge is also much harder to counter than a big board. Would it be completely unreasonable to make the warsong commander more like pint sized? "The first minion you play each round gets charge." That would put an end to silly panda combos, but would it make people stop using that card? Would that make it a bad card?
