I wish I had much to contribute and I wish this post got more attention... It seems that Duels is a very niche game mode: it's not as popular as others, but its fan base is extremely passionate!!

All I can say about the buckets is: it seems like there're a lot of patterns of tying bucket choices to what's in your deck already, but the probability of getting a given deck-related bucket is not as high as you would think. I've played... about 250 runs, and I would say that with any given synergy, there's still about 25-35% chance for any of the buckets to be seemingly random (old C'Thun decks are a notable exception). 

You can see this best in Humble Paladin decks. (whoever reads this and hates me for playing pally, I'm sorry for hurting you)

Even when all you have is minions unrelated to spells, you see buckets with spells or holy spells fairly regularly. This was the case even before its popularity and win rate exploded. The rate of these buckets did not (from what I can remember) meaningfully change from my initial deck changing or from going in very different directions in terms of the cards I picked up along the way; although depending on what I pick up, certain synergy buckets did appear more often. 

P.S. None of this seems to apply or be related to the passives one picks. 

Created an account just to reply to this. I was googling to see if the two interact. TBH it's debatable whether or not it should be patched out because Cannibalism on Demon Hunter exists (and exists in general)... Either way, I'm sorry but... I want them packs, I'm broke.

Could've gone for the disks, since I have 6 Legs, but nahh.
