I miss the times when an untimely announcement of a Diablo mobile game was the worst thing Blizzard could pull off. This is a whole new level of low.

thetrailofthedead posted a message on Blitzchung kicked out of grandmasters and banned from competitive playPosted in: General DiscussionThrough their ups and downs, I've always considered Blizzard to be the company that sets the bar for all other game developers. I've regarded them as a company who delivers high quality products on principle, a standard that you wish was more common of any business.
I'm dumbfounded and feel betrayed by their decision to become pawns to an authoritarian bully. While I can only admire the spirit and common humanity of the Hong Kong protestors from across the entire world, the one thing I can do for them is uninstall Hearthstone and every other Blizzard game and never give them another cent.
I urge others, do not take your freedom for granted. Shame on Blizzard, shame on the NBA and may their cowardly attempts to protect their bottom line ironically lead to their undoing.

Kwakdizzle posted a message on Blitzchung kicked out of grandmasters and banned from competitive playPosted in: General DiscussionQuote from Kaiser_Choulio >>So you ppl are mad cuz he decided to call for revolution on their stream about a (childrens')card game and they didnt like it? You rly think what he did was right by any shape or form seriously? And not to mention he did state what he state while knowing the tours rules and what would happen if he did so. Im not sure why you are mad at blizzard for doing what they say they would do if that happened, its their tour, their stream and politics have no place in such events anyway
You're technically right. The rule, for those who don't know:
2019 HEARTHSTONE® GRANDMASTERS OFFICIAL COMPETITION RULES v1.4 p.12, Section 6.1 (o)
Engaging in any act that, in Blizzard’s sole discretion, brings you into public disrepute, offends a portion or group of the public, or otherwise damages Blizzard image will result in removal from Grandmasters and reduction of the player’s prize total to $0 USD, in addition to other remedies which may be provided for under the Handbook and Blizzard’s Website Terms.
BUT I say screw the rules. This is so much bigger than Hearthstone. He knows the atrocities happening in HK and he knew he had a platform at that moment, and he used it to call out against what is unequivocally a humanitarian and political disaster in Hong Kong. Resorting to technicalities and rules to say "hey look, he broke the rules, it's written right there" is ignoring the nature of the situation. It's like saying you can't criticize Hitler because you might "offend a portion of group of the public", namely, neo-nazis. Obviously an exaggeration, but the point is, this is worth using your platform for, and punishing someone for doing something so important to protect an autocracy and keep their business is something very few people can support.
I get it from a business sense. But certain things call for taking the high ground and suspending business as normal. This is the Tianamen Square of today.

ThisWasTheOnlyUsernameAvailable posted a message on Blitzchung kicked out of grandmasters and banned from competitive playPosted in: General DiscussionThis is a really poor decision for Blizzard. People forget that the Chinese government today is still the very same political party of Mao Zedong. His reign single handedly destroyed the country, eradicated most of the beautiful Chinese culture, and killed between 60 to 80 million people. While the progress of the Chinese economy has been nothing short of phenomenal over the last 20 years it doesn't change the fact the Chinese Communist Party runs the country unopposed. Criticism of the government is still illegal today - just one of the myriad ways they continue to oppress the Chisese people. Those who think they have it tough in the US under Trump are living in Lala Land and have no idea what oppression actually is.
In China they have implemented a social credit score along with mass surveillance of the population using hundreds of thousands of facial recognition cameras to monitor and control the people. Not a fan of the ruling party? Oh well, you get a low social credit score. What happens when you have a low score? Can't buy train or plane tickets. Can't have a bank account.
This is a truly stupid move from Blizzard and it shows once again the power of money. Trump gets a lot of flack for a number of things, some it truly deserved but his trade war with China is needed. They are slowly taking over the world in a financial sense - owning foreign companies, subsidizing local business to allow them to destroy global competition in order to 'win' on the global markets, and have little regard for things like intellectual property law.
People have little to no idea just how evil the CCP is. I absolutely love classical Chinese culture that gave us martial arts, chi gung, and Chinese philosophy like the tao de ching and the i ching. But the CCP is very very far from that.
Of all the things Blizzard have done in the past, this has upset me the most by some distance. To ban a player and essentially confiscate his earnings for criticizing an oppressive regime is one example of how effed up things are in the world today.
Bad move Blizzard. This shows without doubt that no value is placed on anything other than money. What about valuing diversity? Morals? A sense of democracy and fairness? Different points of view? Nope, we'll just take the money thank you.
I think this may be the first time I've actually been triggered by something. Disgusting. No other words for it.

Jonesy978 posted a message on Why are Hearthstone players so frustrated?Posted in: General DiscussionI love and hate this game. It can result in powerful emotions. I know I'm not alone.
When you lose a "fair fight" you can deal with it. But many aspects of the game feel unfair. I appreciate this is very subjective. But those feelings of being screwed over by something ridiculous or just plain "wrong" drives people to rage.
Of course, we should all control ourselves. But every once in a while we all need to vent. :)

Nope, not until they apologize for censoring speech over Hong Kong.

No one can do everything. But everyone can do something.

Shadowverse is pretty cool and interesting, and playable on mobile. Kind of hard to get a sense of the lore though

its up to Blizzards discretion. apparently, they would rather let the Bully win in this case.

I’m sorry but you can call it whatever you want. Using blizzards platform to advocate political violence (you might see it as harmless, but I assure it pissed off a lot people, in a country where this speech would call for violent action) is grounds to demonetize regardless of how PC blizzards actually is. Even if he felt the need to liberalize his country, why leak it on someone else’s platform?
one country, two systems. i'm sure if China kept their part of the deal, none of this would be happening. also, btw, don't forget about Xianjiang, and the Uyghers there. or Tianamen square.

its annoying when you want to play your fun deck, but have to deal with cancer trash like otk priest, normal card shaman (aka quest Shaman), or quest druid, or just get queueued into whatever deck counters your deck 10 times in a row. Its annoying when you put the effort into building a really cool deck, and just play against assholes that just want play whatever deck is hot and wins. It would be great if there was a key forge rule, where every deck had to be unique, even if it is only 1 card difference.

sounds doable

this is great. I think Blizzard should add an altermeta play mode with special restrictions for a month. that would be really great and give people another option playing 'whatever nonsense power deck is hot' standard, and 'big priest' wild. Do it for the best brawls for a month. it would be great
1
why the hell nerf extra arms? It makes minion based priest decks semi-viable. There is nothing you can do with priest besides that lame otk combo... i think they are trying to get rid of Priest, by making it such trash that only degenerates in wild play it. What good is healing if you can't get things to stick around on the board?
2
it should be nerfed so that revived minions have the stats they died with
