If they remove the card automatically, they should refund the gold/money automatically. It has been paid for. Instead they want paying customers to go through the hassle of calling service and waste their time on getting a refund... Sure...
Why go through the hassle of getting a refund when they will buy it again the next day? What's the logic I'm missing here?
I think he's trying to say that he didn't encounter Reno today, therefore his subjective experience dictates that he has been completely removed from the ladder and thus face decks rule supreme once more.
I'm an EU player living in Japan. I made a US account yesterday as every Hearthstone player I know out here is American.
Rushed through the tutorial, unlocked all classes, rushed to level 10. Enter the Arena.
Having a good start, until I DC on the turn I have lethal. Game fails to log in twice. I give up and return to my working EU account.
Today - Arena Run #2: Playing against a Rogue, pretty even towards the end. He makes a mistake, giving me lethal. Phone battery dies. I started the game on 62% battery.

I can think of a few;
Stretch content to make it the time between new content seem shorter.
Allow players to keep up, in terms of card acquisition and understanding of new card texts.
Give players time to acquire gold to buy each wing, making it seem less daunting to the many who were caught unaware due to not reading forums.
