Worked on Android. FYI on android you open the game and change it in the options menu. The game restarts in German and with the quest (in my experience anyway)
I think the New Player Experience and the F2P experience are linked.
There are, at the moment 4 Expansions available. Exclude the Adventure and you have 3 Expansions and Classic. Lets assume 300 packs would get you 99% of the cards in an expansion and 500 for classic. (these are rough numbers, i know someone will probably correct them, but for the sake of argument lets use these numbers).
In Euro, it costs between €1.05 - €1.35 per pack depending on the numbers you get at a time. So lets say €1.10 on average. Hearthstone and the 3 card expansions costs €1,540 to Complete.
Now lets look at this year alone. 3 Expansion: - 900 Packs to complete - €990 this year alone.
Hearthstone isn't cheap. Now lets look at what they give you for free.
Quests: Lets say you can average a 60g quest a day and complete them all. That's 21,900g or 219 Packs. 1 Pack per week in Tavern Brawl (i wont count heroic TB), That's 52 Packs (though only classic packs) So you get about 271 packs out of 2,000 (5 expansion + classic) for free if you play every single day for the whole year.
Its not that much... when you factor that you playing a game every day for a year is giving a lot to the life and health of a game.
I do think blizzard need to do a few things with Hearthstone. 1. Give new players a boosted start. 5 Packs a day for the first month or something... 2. They need to stop new players from being ranked against veteran players. Perhaps a segregated beginner ladder based on card numbers. 3. They need to increase the daily rewards for all players (especially now that there are 3 full expansions this year). This could be daily login bonuses and login streak bonuses. If someone plays for a months straight, give them a random legendary! 4. Decrease the dust cost of wild cards, cause wild can be fun :D
In the end if someone is playing every day for a whole year, they should be getting at least 500 packs worth of content. A big community of small sales is better than a small community of big sales.
Now this has a cost, and i don't think blizzard should be focusing on just what they can give for free. To counter this i would add lots more cosmetic items for sale in the shop. Maiev could have been sold in the shop for €10 - €20 Euro and instead give every Ungoro player 10-20 Packs and i don't think many would have complained. Add custom boards, Heroes, Hero Powers, even custom skins and animations for cards (Card included in purchase ofc!).
Making the game cheaper to play but more expensive to customize would be a great way to reduce the cost to enter and still maintain revenue streams.
Mana Cost: Unicorn - 5 Mana (-1 Emperor) = 4 Mana Kobold Geomancer - 2 Mana (-1 Emperor) = 1 Mana Bloodmage Thalnos - 2 Mana (-1 Emperor) = 1 Mana Mind Blast - 2 Mana (-1 Emperor) = 1 Mana Mind Blast - 2 Mana (-1 Emperor) = 1 Mana Holy Smite - 1 Mana (-1 Emperor) = 0 Mana Holy Smite - 1 Mana (-1 Emperor) = 0 Mana
Mana Surge is a mage spell that is kind of a cross between Bolvar Fordragon and Forbidden Flame, in that it improves in your hand as the game goes on depending on conditions on the board and it deals damage per mana.
Because Bolvar has an attack that can increase and is visible so you know how strong he now is in your hand, i have included a "Crystals" counter on the card to show how many crystals it absorbed. For example, this is the card after absorbing 7 Crystals.
I believe this card is balanced, because it is so slow and it only targets minions. It probably becomes more efficient in the late game when un-used mana crystals are more common and less critical. it also has a wierd Anti-synergy with your hero power, in that ping face while this card is in your hand basically = 1 damage to minion or character now instead of 2 to a minion later.
When top-decking at turn 10, this Basically removes any big threat (except those over 10 health) but it costs you 1 turn of damage which is bad and could potentially cost you the game.
If you are top-decking with this already in your hand, then, because its top decking and the game really becomes who gets the better/stickier minion, this becomes a small safety net to protect against a situation where you top deck and 1 drop after he top decked and played a 7 drop.
I also envisage this card having an animation of the mana crystals transferring to the card at the end of the turn. This would only be visible to your opponent if there were other "drain" cards in the game. If this was the only one, it would be too obvious to let your opponent see it.
ALGALON THE OBSERVER Here to re-originate the world in the event of systemic corruption.
Description (from Wowwiki.com) Algalon is a constellar sent by the titans after Watcher Loken's death activated a planetary fail-safe protection, indicating possible distress on Azeroth. Algalon's task is to analyze any systemic corruption on the planet. If it's deemed beyond saving, the Titans will "re-originate" the planet to cleanse it of corruption, killing all currently living organisms in the process. After his defeat in Ulduar, he chose to monitor the activities of the mortal races of Azeroth. His outlook on life and the Titans' plans has been called into question, so he seeks to understand what makes Azeroth so different from the countless worlds he has observed before
Flavour Text: A thorn in the side of those with nervous bladders!
Summon (Old God Exists): Systemic Corruption detected! Planetary Re-origination initiated! Summon (No Old God): Corruption levels within acceptable parameters. Beginning secondary Observation.
Attack:Behold the tools of creation! Death:Your planet will be spared....
United we stand, a Paladin spell that allows any spell or effect that targets a minion to target your hero. This spell has a lot of benefits but comes with a lot of risks...
Benefits: Buff spells and effects (like Kings or Shattered sun Cleric's Battle Cry) can buff your hero with HP and Attack. Attack is like equipping a weapon but Permanent (Mostly)
You can give your hero divine Shield and other buffs such as Windfury and on attack effects.
Risks You can be killed in many MANY more ways...
For example: You can be Polymorphed into a 1attack, 1HP Sheep hero and pinged down. You can be Executed, Mind Control is an instant win for your opponent and an offensive Keeper of Ulduman makes you a 3-3...
Notes:
The Start of your turn counts as an action, therefore you cannot be permanently Stealthed.
You can be silenced, removing all effects including the effect of "United we stand"
"Destroy and re-summon" effects lose you the game. You were destroyed and it just re-summons a minion copy.
You cannot be returned to your Hand, but entomb does win the game for your opponent.
Effects Must be targeted to the hero. Things like Flamestrike or Deadly Shot wont hit you.
Overall is it worth the risk...? Probably not for long but what is life without risk! :)
