If the buzzard is destroyed for possible OP-ness, I insist that inner-fire, the most dreaded card in the game...for me!, must be 5 Mana too!
I know, a buffed 30 30 is no deal for top players and they will troll this thread for sure, but for low-noobs like me, this card is hell and with my beloved hunter gone come 22nd, I demand a nerf for inner-fire as well!
Just on a side-note, the word noob itself is degrading
To your reply:
Competition can be fun, if the environment is forgiving and there is a win / win situation as you described (You learn / I learn). But, modern game mechanics incorporate certain elements that are meant to incite the vanquished.
Here are a few examples:
BF3 : Knife stabbing: Killing somebody with a knife is very personal and is regarded a shame: Reaction: Hatred through shaming:
But, why ? Is competition the purpose in life? Is besting somebody else the only "winning" feeling? Can you please elaborate on your answer so I can phrase mine?
How so ? Can you please elaborate on this thought that without competition games would be boring? This is by no means a troll attack or baiting for doing so, I want to know your opinion so I can phrase mine.
Or, implement another learning system. I remember playing Dark Age of Camelot, one of the earliest MMORPG's that had PvP as its core value, in which there was a help channel where high-ranking players gave advice on the fly because they had opted in voluntarily to do so.
A help channel for low-ranking players in this game and maybe a streaming system to determine certain fallacies would do the trick?
Darling: I will make it easy for you: lookee here what papa said
So, this high level of competition in this game - and in other games that reward "skill" and punish "noobs" - takes away the fun for me. Still, as this is a problem of a very subjective nature, it is upon me to either change my mind-set or stop playing this game; I have not yet made up my mind.
This nails it for me and I have experienced this effect in so many games since Quake Arena and CS 1.4 [sic!]. So, what can be done to improve the fun in multiplayer games? Improve the AI tremendously and implement strongly supported co-op modes? This would be my idea, what do you think?
I strongly doubt that games without competition will spoil the fun for the player: but, again, this was not my question.
Well, I can derive from your answer, that you do not mind competition and that possible downfalls are to be blamed on lack of skill and imbecility? Does this wrap up your thoughts?
As any discussion starts, the one who asks the question must merge at least two different opinions into one or has to decide in favour of his own subjective assertion. This card game has given me very hard times in terms of frustration and entailing declining fun-curve. Consequently, I have to say that HS is too competitive for me: Why?
Hearthpwn (nomen est omen) forum offers a lot of information that could be utilized to "climb the ladder" to become "legendary" to excel in "mid-game / trading & facing". For me, all this information has led to utter confusion and tribulations.
Society itself has got rare moments of accomplishments and accolade! The different thread-mills - job, University, family, friends, relationship - have become akin to tournaments and the only prize one can take away for his / her excitement is to learn that others are "much better", or so it seems. For me, being a narcissist of the book, but very content in my adult environment, I frantically search for accomplishment and accolade in games...and fail..every day...in every game and this is why:
Usually my day starts like that:
I enter the arena, got beaten up, got frustrated, read on a new OP deck, build it, fret, because I lack legendary X, test the deck, lose two times, garner even more frustration, read on another "legendary deck", realise, people climbing with it, try it again, lose again, garner even more frustration, start paying no attention at all, lose again, switch to casual, start putting together decks, of which I think could be OP, lose two times, garner even more frustration, read on a new OP deck....
Usually my day ends like that:
RAGE-QUIT tm!

Feel free to share your 2 cents on this topic if you like, I am curious about your notion towards competition in HS and in other computer games alike.

Hearthstone: "Well played" after a humiliating, crushing defeat is rage inducing:

My question is: Why do games need content like that?

Yes, I do believe that too.
What is your opinion on competition in games in general? Does it motivate you or de-motivate you?
