Aerel00 posted a message on Forged in the Barrens - ArtworkPosted in: General DiscussionIt seems this expansion had a very deep dip in the quality of the cards artworks. One of the most important aspects (imo) of any ccg for me is the art and this expa it is abysmal. The legendaries are almost all closeups of a "averagely" drawn characters in very boring poses and a blurry background.
Barrens is such a rich area with cool views and it sucks they are not taking advantage of that. It feels as if blizzard being the small indie company they are saved some bucks by butchering the art.
What do you think? Am i being a bit too harsh? Or spot on?

Finalstan posted a message on Why are Mages so irritating to play againstPosted in: General DiscussionMage is only powerful through chance. Paladin is consistently borderline broken, as your examples actually show and only luck can let you counter that. There should be legit counters to Paladins' multiple broken mechanics. I play a mage and my stats against Paladin are not that great and I like to think I know how to play. I have zero sympathy.

TheHiddenNinja7 posted a message on why the problem was not Edwin VanCleefPosted in: General DiscussionThese have been fine for a while.
Foxy Fraud made it so much worse. It should only reduce cost by 1 imo

Omnislash_7777 posted a message on 19.2.1 Patch Notes - Edwin & Boggspine Nerfs - Battleground ChangePosted in: NewsAh yes a major nerf and hall of fame send off to yet another long-time staple because Blizzard is too lazy to balance new expansions around the base set.
I wonder if it's even worth having the classic set in standard anymore at this point. Most of the cards have either been power creeped into irrelevance or taken out back to the hall of fame woodshed and put down like Old Yeller. -

enoX_36 posted a message on Should Edwin VanCleef be nerfed or changed?Posted in: Card DiscussionQuote from AlbertEinstein >>I think it should not be nerfed, I recently played against someone who got the perfect hand and in turn 2 he did bring an Edwin 10/10 so I obviously lost because I had neither silence or removal. It may tilt some players when this happens because they didn't had a chance to even play the match but fortunately this does not happen very often in my opinion. And as we know this game it's also luck based when many times you start with the right hand and the opponent don't, especially for decks with early win condition cards or decks which snowball quickly.
I would agree if it wasn't for the fact that this has been a problem since classic. What you're describing is perfectly fine for a very strong and dominant card that is in a set rotation, it is less fine for a card that never goes away. It has been consistently not fun to play against for what, six years now? At some point you have to hall of fame the thing because it's stupid that every rogue has had it in their deck since the dawn of the game.
It's simply not true. There were several rogue archetypes that were not running edwin at all or he was too weak and people cut him off at some point. Quest rogue, kingsbane rogue, odd rogue, maly rogue, mill rogue, apothecary rogue, weapon rogue and stealth rogue are decks that never needed edwin. With so many archetypes that excluded vancleef from their list I don't see blizzard hall of faming him unless they decide to change rogue's class identity.

UltraJeeves posted a message on Demon Hunter was a failure.Posted in: General DiscussionBig fan of DH. Don't main it, but think it's been a great addition to the game. Limited RNG, interesting flavour and good for new or returning players.
Starting HS now is a time-intensive and/or expensive endeavour. It took me the better part of two years to get a halfway decent standard collection. DH allows newbies to play competitive decks without too much difficulty.

So for everyone complaining about Edwin, watch the alliance themed expansion being Westfall, the mini set being Deadmines and Edwin coming back.

People on hearthpwn: most classes lack identity, the classic set must be changed.
Also people on hearthpwn: nerf the only classic set class legendary that sees play.

Does anyone else think that aside from the fact that skull is probably the most powerful standalone card in the game, at least in standard, it should have been a legendary spell as far as warcraft lore is concerned?
Some will say doomhammer or gorehowl should also have been legendaries but I would rather attribute that to blizzard not having envisaged legendary weapons or minions at the time (the only one that comes to my mind is ashbringer via tirion).
Also as far as the powerlevel of the card is concerned, does anyone else think that releasing a busted card as a legendary so that it is only playable as a one-off without it necessarily having a very unique effect is desirable as opposed to making sure that all legendaries are somewhat unique even though most are unplayable?

Not going past Silver 10 has nothing to do with you being f2p. A person of average intelligence can go past that with river crocolisks and oasis snapjaws.

I agree that discover is fine as a mechanic and that there is skill involved if it is a decision out of 3 cards and not just a random card. I also think that mages boxing is fine because you can think of it it as your opponent’s turnaround card and to some extent play around it accordingly by not over extending.
What is problematic imo is when half of your opponent’s hand is cards that didn’t start in their deck and that’s the case with gala rogue or gala priest. If blizz wants to give some classes late game value, something like jarraxus hero power would be much more certain in terms of playing around.
Lackeys and gala priest’s hero power is the problem imo not the discover mechanic.

Could be an Arena feature. You pick a class and at the end of the run you get a pack from that class.
Edit: It could be the same for Tavern Brawl I suppose. Although on second thought, assuming the pack would give only standard cards, I don’t know how wild players would find that. I guess people playing wild already have most of the classic set anyway.

Agreed. Also at the start of the expansion people were hyped about spell mage and pure paladin. No one plays those anymore.
