I know you want to focus on the RNG aspect of the game, but what I'm actually seeing here is an intense fear of losing. Until you get over that, you will not find much joy in any competitive interaction. Without winners and losers, there is no competition.

Once you accept that playing the game means losing the game about half the time, you might not worry so much about why you lose a game, be it RNG, misplays, or simply a bad match-up. Next time you lose a game of Hearthstone, don't allow yourself to dwell on the negative feeling of defeat, and do not analyze why you lost. Instead, try to think about the positive aspects of the game you just played. Feel happy for your opponent if something really lucky happened for them. Appreciate a skillful play they made. Just think about some of the interesting card interactions you just saw, which are the reason we all play these games.

It will be healthy if you learn to release your grip. You can't control every aspect of the cards any more than you can control every aspect of the real world. In both cases, it makes more sense just to do your best and try to enjoy the ride. In the end, would you rather look back at all the fun you had, or all the control you had?

I guess that's it. It's just a terrible fear of losing and not being able to do anything about it. I think it's just time to come back to MMORPGs. I think I've played too many card games last few years.

posted a message on Burnt out from card games

I've started playing Hearthstone on GvG launch. After enjoying almost every aspect of the game for like 2 years it started to annoy me more than it made me smile. Tried going away for few months, then coming back etc. Switched to Elders SCrolls Legends and got pretty good rank there. Tried magic the arena. Eternal card game. Legends of runeterra for like a year starting from beta.

No matter what, at some point, all I'm starting to see is that I lost/won due to rng impact. Yes, I'm talking here about drawing badly, poorly, facing counter decks. No matter I lost or won in such situations, It would have always left me with feeling of injustice and that neither I nor my opponent couldn't have done anything to prevent it.

Deep down inside Id love to don't give a shit about matchups like this and focus on skill testing games and so on. But even then I remind myself about pro players on twitch who 90% of the time excuse their losses or wins with stuff like "better hand, didn't draw, counter decks etc".

I feel like when I started my journey with ccgs, there was a ton of things to learn and there was no place for focusing on stuff like bad draws etc. I would just accept it as it is, just focusing on my misplays, animations, interactions. But once I get to know it pretty well all I'm starting to feel is a terrible fear of RNG. In my mind, it's just not acceptable to let things get out of my hands. I love to have control over things and when I feel there is nothing I can make to work it out I just leave it cause it slows me down. Here in card games I just feel like too much depend on RNG and despite great moments, there are too many that make me feel bad.

It just shows how people's minds differ from each other. I mean some people just accept shitty matchups and only focus on what's nice. Maybe somebody had been in such phase before and managed to overcome it?

I always go discover first, go to tavern 3, and then choose to tier up in 5 turns. Goes very well with gold especially if you roll token on turn 1. Also if you manage to get 3 minions from tavern 3 at turn 4, it gives you a huge advantage at the start without sacrificing much HP. What's more, is on tier 3 you can find more minions that will stay with you for the whole game so it's nice to increase your chance of finding those minions.

But I've seen pro players stick with discovers only or tier up in 5 turns at turn 1. Tho usually its as I said.

Control shouldn't have a place in HS unless they stop printing stupid bitch ass randomly generated cards. Control vs control matchups are too often about who created better cards.

    Dont come back

It always amazes me when you see such toxic responses. Like, do players just want the game they play to die by instantly throwing anyone with interest/aspiration into the fire?

Ignore all the toxic morons that inhabit this game OP. If you’ve ever browsed any hearthstone forum before, hopefully you can recognize that this game, and every one for that matter, is inhabited by some sludge.

The meta is very fast right now, and basically consists of two types of decks. Aggro and combo. There are a lot of good resources on YouTube on what’s going on/what to play/etc. right now. You can get a good idea of what questlines are and what not. Currently, warlock is the big boy as far as the questline decks go, but you can beat it with fast hunter decks/faster combo decks such as miracle rogue.

As far as the reward track goes, it is far and away better than what you are used to. You can go in game and look at it by clicking the little scroll button towards the bottom left.

Every opinion can come in handy. Often when I see such posts about any game I wonder where such a negative attitude even came from. The thing is, there are some games that you play for a year and unfortunately, after this period, you're starting to see its flaws. And sometimes they're unbearably huge. If anybody ever asked me whether to grab a hold on to HS I'd have said to try it, but once it starts to get annoying leave it immediately. There are many players that hate this game, yet they've become so addicted, that despite not even playing much they buy packs for the sake of it. Just not to stay behind if by some miracle this game transforms into some form of HS2.

In my opinion, HS skill level is irritatingly low, and games are way too often decided by pure luck. Matchups leave you with feelings of frustration and dissatisfaction. No matter you win or lose. Given the cost of the game and whatnot, I wouldn't have recommended this game to any1 who enjoys longer games that aren't decided by mechanics like discover.

To put it simply, after a year or so, you're starting to see that this game is just a slot machine with lovely animations.

Rewards are better but games are super easy and not satisfying, no matter you win or lose. You basically feel like on autopilot.

Since they are unwilling to cap the damage on each turn, or progressively, or double the hero hitpoints, nothing's gonna change. Mounting a comeback in BGs is mostly impossible, especially against the highrollers (since they usually get the best minions out of the pool just to lower your chances of a comeback, and there's nothing you can do about it).

So BGs = frustration, normal HS = frustration, arena = costly frustration. So just f_k this game and its designers.

Cards like: Battlemaster, Spore, Toxfin etc. Are designed for comebacks. Comebacks are very much possible in BG.

Exactly. There are many games where you come back even with few HP left. You can easily get to the top 3 if you know what you're doing and how to stabilize.

I'm almost 10k and I can tell without hesitation that there are games where I lose because I can say without a doubt that I misplayed. And I can tell the exact moment where I could have made a game-changing move but didn't.

Sometimes when you top 8 you just didn't get anything. But at least the game ends fast for you and tbh it doesn't feel very bad. The same goes for high rolling lobbies. Usually game is fun and you have to put a lot of focus into winning or at least being in the top 4. I remember you could have said the same about normal HS. But now it's just pure lottery.

Lmao. Normal HS is the trashiest of trash compared to BG.

Idd from time to time there will be this lobby with high rollers but usually, you deserve your loss or win.

Normal HS on the other hand? 90% of the time: his hand was better than mine, he had better randomly created stuff, his deck was a counter to mine, my deck has no tool to handle my opponent strategy, he won despite misplays.

    NORMAL HS IN A NUTSHELL.

why are you so mad dude? If you are frustrated feel free to go in the Salt threat.

This thread is criticism toward BG if you haven't noticed.  Just replaying accordingly to the thread tone. Why would you think I'm mad? Because of large letters at the end? KEKW
