So as it turns out this board is my favorite, I absolutely love all the fan creations being posted everyday.
However some of the submissions although great are just absurdly Over powered (Some of my own) which brings me to the point of this post.
COUNTER PLAY
What is counter play ? Well on a basic level, its the idea that in a multi-player game when designing an ability or mechanic you cant only be thinking about how that ability or mechanic is interesting for the player that gets to use it, you also have to think about how its interesting for the player its getting used on - I sourced this from this video-
I propose we tie every person who wants to design a card ( Blizzard Devs included) to a chair, and force them to watch this. When they're done, we ask them some questions about what they've learned from the video and how it applies to Hearthstone. If ( / when) they fail to understand this, they watch it again and again. Until they understand why their card is broken, and what they need to do to fix it.
I know for a fact the R&D folks at Magic: the Gathering picked up on the idea that things that tend to only be fun for one person can negatively influence the game. That is one of the main reasons land destruction as a viable strategy was phased out, and why counter magic has been drastically weakened. It's no fun when one player is literally locked out of the game because they don't have any lands to play spells with, or any spell they do manage to play gets countered.
I am in no way saying this is a new concept, more that it is VERY often over looked.
Thank you for your time, and I would love for you to share your thoughts on this and how it could affect the future of hearthstone.
tl;dr Hearthstone cards abilities and mechanics should be interesting for both players.
These are absolutely fantastic, I can see you have put time and effort into these cards. Some of which require small adjustments but other than that + rep for you sir
I watched Day9 play all weekend, that deck was extremely fun to watch been played. I also have to add that day9 is the least salty hearthstone player I have ever seen Mah Respects
