Great ideas! I switched out the Corruptions and Succubus for Voodoo Doctors and Earthen Ring Farseers. I probably win around 80% versus mage now. Thanks!
Warm Salutations my fellow Warlock friends! If you've been playing ranked, I'm sure you've ran into the fairly popular Spell Damage Mage decks swarming the beta. All of them featuring the bane of my existence: Pyroblast.
I know Warlocks kind of rely on the gimmick of rushing the opponent down and having the whole "Power Hungry" thing, and maybe I shouldn't be playing Warlock in ranked but come on! I love this class! So much fun. I feel like you should at least be able to have SOME sort of counter to a mage.
At least in the current metagame you don't really need epics/legendaries to win games. They can definitely help in certain situations, but commons are just as potent (if not more). I mean, look at Spell Damage Mage decks. Pretty solid even without epics. Sure a Malygos would definitely help, but you will still win a lot of your games.
and honestly cards like the Succubus and Soulfire just take up space in my hand. If I have Jaraxxus in my hand I almost have a heart attack when I'm forced to play one of those two cards because I know the RNG could kill me right then and there.
It's not that bad. My last Arena run I didn't pull any legendaries and I had four wins. But I'm intrigued by that idea of pseudo RNG. Like a fixed number of Rares, Epics, and Legendaries players get. That would at least make it "Fair".
Third game, my mage opponent plays a turn 2 Bloodmage Thalnos and uses the spellpower to keep my board cleared for a while. On turn 5 she plays a Sylvanas Windrunner. Ouch. I manage to dance around her and wind up giving her an Ironfur Grizzly. Not too bad. Then she plays an Archmage Antonidas and Fireballs me to death.
Now that's RNG... That's a brutal bunch of legendaries to try to out play. Bad luck, man. (I would've been ecstatic if I pulled cards like that in Arena, though.)

Besides using the Neutral healing Minions Voodoo Doctor,Earthen Ring Farseer, Darkscale Healer etc, or relying on the very situation specific Sacrificial Pact and the very mana intensive Siphon Soul I feel like there aren't really any easy ways around that much firepower.
I mean, I even have Jaraxxus (Which is essentially an extra 10-15 health if you play him late game) and I still have trouble.
This is my current Warlock deck:
I was thinking to replace the Soulfires and Succubuss with neutral healing minions, but if you have any other ideas, Let me know.
Cheers.
