The small detail you left out about tyrion being a "dead card" in hand is that in any other game you top deck a tyrion and play it and its a huge play.   You top deck this piece of trash and you probably just lost.   ..thats sorta of a small caveat wouldnt you say?  for not choosing to run this in any control deck.

You are 1-300 in this thread alone that has referred to this card as "good".   Do you also believe global warming is a hoax?

That is true. I am not saying this card is as good as Tirion by any means. But a card can still have potential if its a bad top deck. And saying it is an autoloss if you draw this is- that very much depends on the board state you have. If you are in line for making some good trades then it can be nice to drop for five. Especially if you have a good amount of tokens out.

Others are defending this card as well. Just because its popular to hate a card means the majority are right. For an example I'll point you to everyone saying Hunter was dead after the Buzzard nerf.

I do believe in global warming as if that had anything to do in what we are talking about. I also believe that you are a very sad person for getting so upset over someone trying to be optimistic over a card in video game.

You should just make the correct plays and trades early on and if Bolvar is benefitial to drop on turn 5 you do. If not, there is nothing wrong with saving him.

Except for the fact that you have had this dead card sitting in your hand doing nothing and you are lose tempo because of it.

Explain to me how a handlock(over 70%) of the time can drop a 8-8 turn 5 and yet this crap card just sits in your hand waiting to become a silencable boulderfist???   explain to me how this is even a legendary??

Do you play control Paladin? Do you know how many dead cards you have in your hand all the time anyway? Tirion is often dead because you have to wait for your opponent to use silence and removal before you play him unless of course you need to take the risk to survive. Tirion is still a great card. Bolvar isn't great. But he is good in my opinion. I could be wrong of course.

As far as the handlock question. I just explained it. It is at the sacrifice of early board control. You sit and tap until turn 3 or 2 if you have the coin where you play a Farseer. A Paladin with this card can play some cards and make trades early especially with the Coghammer and Muster for battle now. And the scarlet purifier as well.

This could just be my intense optimism that I always have but I think it can be a decent card if used right. Only time will tell though. The meta will be all shook up when GvG drops.

How does this work with Redemption?  Does it come back as a 1/1?

I'm 99% sure he does but I doubt anyone will be running redemption much anyway.

A lot of people seem to be under the impression that you should just blindly trade minions even if it wouldn't typically be the right play just to make Bolvar better. That will not be the case if you are playing right. You should just make the correct plays and trades early on and if Bolvar is benefitial to drop on turn 5 you do. If not, there is nothing wrong with saving him.

Even if he gets silenced, your opponent just used a silence on a five drop when you might be running Tirion, Ysera, Sylvanas, Carine, Sneed's Old Shredder, or other things. So is that really a loss? I say no.

Sure he is a bad card to draw at the end of the game but lots of other cards are too but are still played. Undertaker being the most obvious. And even then its possible to get some value out from your Pally tokens.

And as for the handlock comparison. Yes a Handlock can get a Giant out for 4 or less mana but that is at the expense of early game board control usually. Bolvar rewards you for making trades early to maintain board control while still giving you a solid minion.

This card could be better than a lot of people are thinking

Don't get me wrong, Its no Tirion. He is the best class legendary in the game still. That being said I forsee him having some use as a solid five drop. Even just a 5/7 for 5 is a great stat-line to have

This is a solid five drop that almost requires a silence. If they silence this they wont be able to also silence the various other cards that control Paladin will be running that also require silence. I think people really are overreacting to this. Lets give it a chance.

Plenty of cards are susceptible to silence. I don't think you can call a card bad because of that. Also, a lot of the game play of control Paladin is baiting out silences are removal for Tiron. So if this gets silenced or removed its done a decent job. If it doesn't its gonna get some good value.

The deck looks fine for the most part however I would consider crafting another Flame Imp. A 3/2 for 1 is just so valuable. Perhaps you could take out one Defender of Argus or maybe Loatheb. Other than that just keep playing and you'll get better!

I typically play control Paladin and I find Priest to be one of my favorite match-ups around rank 5. Its fairly even to me and its a nice breath of fresh air from all the Zoo and Hunter we see nowadays.
