Just as you guys started this topic I went 12-2(lost to 2 paladins spamming murlock knights) with this mage deck.
Arena score of 62.6, no board clears except for a cone of cold... also no fireballs or frostbolts. Had 2 polys and all 4 mana drops were high quality minions which was pretty much what carried me to the wins. Only a few games were easy.
OP is talking about those guys that intentionally rope (on turn 1 lol). Sure there are many times when you actually have a lot to think through before you make your move, but everyone knows that there are some guys that rope just to annoy the other player...
I used to get annoyed by that. Not anymore.
When I see that I just switch windows and look at something on internet, or watch a stream, or whatever. It doesnt even bother me...
Today my oponent play a Sneed's Old Shredder, when i kill it, another Sneed's Old Shredder pop out. When i finally kill the second sneed's, another pop out... and then i lose the game... That was my first game of my 1-3 arena :)
2 sneeds out of the first one? what are the chances of that happening...
Also, argent protector isnt really a 2 drop because you rarely play it on turn 2, because it gives you way more value/tempo on later turns. You essencially only have 1x 2 drop (ships cannon). Its chow, no questions asked.
I think 2 zombie chows are good for the early game, as well as 2 muster for battle. Those cards will help you get value out of your murlocs, otherwise they will die as soon as they hit the board... also 6 secrets might be a bit much, maybe keep like 3 of them...
2x muster for battle(with 2 avenges), argent lance, aldor, 2x murloc knight, 2x bomb lobber, minibot, consecration... it wouldnt be too difficult to get 12 wins in any server with that deck.
Still amazing, 12 wins, congratulations mate, the feeling is pretty good.
If you are going first, and have a 1 drop in hand (or maybe that flamecannon) then I would keep the 3 drop and toss the rest (imo).
But if you are going first and a 3 drop is the lowest cost minion you have in hand, then I would easily toss it all back...and you might still get a worse starting hand, its part of the rng...sometimes you just have to gamble...

have you considered running wild pyromancers?

I think they should be 3/3 instead of 3/4...

some decks have a low score, but it doesnt mean they are bad, curve and good quality minions can take you far...

what is your deck list?

5- 6+ wins imo.

Paladin is better, and its not even close.... mages now dont get as many board clears as they used to....
Also, rogue is better than mage...
When I say those classes are better, its obviously not always, but they are on average better.

hmm, the deck rating doesnt mean all that much. My last 12 win deck run had a 62 score...
Also, while the heartharena advice is most of the times the best option, I never agree with all 30 picks...
There are always at least 2-3 choices that I pick differently...

Lol that rogue deck ^
Insane...4 backstabs with 2 undercity valiants and an SI7, I bet you didnt have any problems controling the board...
fine card draw in burgle and cult master.
and then some nice finishers...
Very impressive deck overall....
