You are comparing uncomparable. In MTG you are getting physical value with every card. You can resell cards at any given time to get some of your money back, or you can actually get more money back that what you invested.
Nothing of sort is the case in Hearthstone. Cards don't have any real money value in Hearthstone. But on the other hand, you get many free cards and you can play the game without putting any money into it. Becouse of that, we will never get real card trading like in MTG. Becouse people would just create infinite accounts and trade cards between them.
How about selling HS account with a solid collection? No doubt its a common thing and u can take your money back.
I'm sure it happens, but that is still comparing apples or oranges. It's illegal to sell accounts which reduces the amount of people that do it and the % of people who would buy accounts is significantly less than people that would buy cards. Isn't your hearthstone account linked to your "battle.net" account also? In fact, I don't think this is a common thing at all with all the factors going against it.
Edit: I haven't played MTG in a decade so I can't exactly comment, but I have dabbled in Yugioh on and off the majority of my life. There are a lot of staple cards used in most decks and even when decks leave the tier 1-2 format, cards are still worth quite a bit. You'll still lose money after selling your deck, but not a lot. Can't say the same about Hearthstone.
I'm not a big fan of this question though. They're similar genres, but completely different games. You can't really compare the two in terms of pricing, but I will say that I've sunk a lot of money into this game that I regret.
There was a thread on reddit a few days ago about this and I was too afraid to check out how much I've spent on packs and arena runs. Some people were claiming over $500+ and I feel like I could have easily spent that much over the last 3 years. I can't exactly check easily either since I used both android and ios to get them. I wouldn't be surprised if I averaged around the same as OP. This is the first expac I won't be pre-ordering or purchasing packs. I don't play as much due to work and $49.99 for 40 packs was so easy to impulse buy via $50 gift cards. Now, not so easy.
With the price increase in Canada mobile, 0. It just isn't worth it for me anymore and I was one of those who spent $100-150 an expansion. What a cool card back though.
Wild can certainly be more diverse and opens up more deck building possibilities, but it's beyond broken, and I'm seeing way more Standard decks lately. If Blizzard cared about the format, they'd fix some of the oppressive cards that will forever remain in the game.
I had some quests to complete today so I played a few games on ladder. At Rank 19 it was Jade Druid, Pirate Warrior, N'zoth Priest, and a Mill Rogue.
I really shouldn't be commenting since I don't know what the meta looks like, but that sounds about right. In fact you answered one of your own issues. At rank 19, you're facing people that are coming out of the ladder floor. These are people who are in rank 10-5 in standard that don't want to lose that position and Casual is standard 2.0. So what do they do? Play those same Standard decks in low rank Wild since everyone there is either doing the same or playing absolute trash f2p day 1 decks. Sprinkle in some legit wild decks in there, but who cares about 1 or 2 losses compared to dropping a whole rank in standard.
Now, if you are talking about higher ranks, then isn't that a problem with Standard power level? But I do agree that at certain points of the meta in wild, there were some extremely powerful decks that everyone and their mom played. I still had a blast trying to beat them with some cool wild deck, netdeck or not.
I haven't been playing much but Wild was great since it was introduced. I always had much more fun there than standard. You saw a more diverse pool of decks and even if not, you get to play some pretty insane decks with ridiculous combos that occur frequently. As someone has mentioned in this thread, it blows my mind some people disenchanted their wild collection. I'm sure they had their reasons (Tournament play?), but it seems for an average player, you would have loads more fun in wild than standard.
This was definitely worth it for me. The first 56 packs gave me only 3 Legendaries, but I evened out with 74 more packs purchased with gold. Out of 130 packs, I got 7 Legendaries and 1 golden Sindragosa for a total of 8 legendaries. Got some pretty nice ones too that I wanted to play with like Jaina and Rotface. Didn't have enough dust to get a golden Lilian which I wanted and ended up pulling her. Have another 1k gold left but at this point, I'm not sure if I need to buy anymore.
EDIT: Just got Garrosh as the free DK. Should have done the adventure first.
- You need to have both Radiant Elementals and 1 Shadow Visions in your hand before playing Raza.
- You need to have 1 Shadow Visions in your deck.
If you can pull off that combo... great! But it's highly unlikely.
I don't know about this. I play Dreadsteed renolock in wild with 2 copies. I can hit the Dreadsteed umbra combo most games and also reno afterwards. This might be really strong in wild. You also only need 1 copy on Radiant Elemental in your hand, not both which makes this combo easier. The biggest problem with it in Standard is to be able to survive that long.
only really excited for opening 53 packs really also cant wait for frost lich jaina
Pretty much this. I haven't had time or the interest lately to really analyse the cards but I do have 7800 gold saved up so far. Hopefully I'll be able to open up 100 packs and that'll be the biggest enjoyment out of the expansion.
Save, no question. A friend opened a duplicate Ysera from his Brawl pack and felt dumb for not waiting. Wait for new rules.
Ugh, this just happened with yesterday's pack. Opened a dup Thalanos. Part of me totally forgot about this and part of me thought it was already implemented. Some cool classic legendaries I don't have yet either that aren't worth the dust.
Well, decided to open 10 more packs because it feels like a legendary is on the way. 2 saved from arena runs and 3 from the free packs. 500 gold towards the rest. Nope. According to my excel, I'm 110 packs in with only 4 legendaries @ 27.5 rate. Looks like I'm saving for the next expansion.

On a side note, this card is really ugly. That art looks atrocious.
